Directors Guild pulls backing of 'Rust' producer's new movie over safety concerns

"The Directors Guild of America (DGA) has informed its members to stop working on a new film backed by one of the producers of “Rust,” citing safety concerns, the Los Angeles Times reports.

DGA's decision reportedly affects the directors, assistant directors and unit production managers working on the Georgia production of the movie “Oak.”

“Representatives of the DGA informed the producers of specific safety requirements that needed to be satisfied for the film to be covered under a DGA agreement. The producers failed to meet those conditions,” the guild said in a statement on Thursday."

She is still young in regards to parenting but he may not be around for some of the typical family milestones.

From what I was told Halyna was honored at the Oscars for those in the industry that have passed. So sad.

But if this ^ is vid village's main(?) purpose, I'm puzzled about vid village also providing "secure cloud storage." Why?

I have no idea where she got the idea that the video village setup used for that production would have cloud storage. It seems unlikely. I don't think there would be fiber to the location and I don't see anything that looks like a Starlink transceiver in any of the overheads of the set.

"Hilaria Baldwin has revealed she is pregnant with her seventh child with husband Alec Baldwin, just months after the actor became embroiled in a devastating tragedy when he accidentally shot dead a crew member on the set of his movie Rust.

The 38-year-old shared the news on her Instagram on Tuesday, posting a video of herself and Alec, 63, playing with their six children after sharing their happy news with their brood.

The announcement comes just five months after Alec's fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the Rust set, something that Hilaria alluded to in her Instagram caption, which referred to their unborn child as a 'bright spot in their lives'.

'After many ups and downs over the past few years, we have an exciting up and a huge surprise: another Baldwinito is coming this fall,' Hilaria wrote."

Sounds like an Elizabeth Holmes sympathy baby ploy.

Very sad. She seemed to be genuinely humble and opposite of the ‘Hollywood Elite’.

To me, it seems that Haylna Hutchins was an artist, creating art to share with us.

As to what we as watched at the Oscars, less about art & sharing IMHO and more about entitlement....imho and all.

Entitlement seems to apply to the Baldwins, imho, as well. Although plainly I do not have direct information.

jmho ymmv lrr

Alec Baldwin's Match Game game show has been canceled by ABC | Daily Mail Online

"ABC has canceled the game show Match Game, hosted by Alec Baldwin.

The cancellation of the show was not linked to the 64-year-old actor's involvement in the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during the filming of Rust in New Mexico last October, Variety reported.

The show had not been in production since 2020, ahead of the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown, and only two new episodes were aired last year."

SNL brings back Donald Trump one year after Alec Baldwin ‘loses’ job

"Coincidentally" another actor was chosen to play Donald Trump, starting in November 2021.

Surely, this was just because AB had "retired" his award winning portrayal. Of course.

Yet, members of the crew say they were using it. The camera crew (most of whom walked out that morning) was in charge of it. It's virtually an essential in today's world - there are no negatives from which to spin dailies. Instead, people upload to services like Video Village (often from a camera that has its own satellite link - the way some alarm systems do). The crew had the ability to watch the filming from anywhere on set, additionally (via cellular data - for which no one needs an uplink). Starlink is hardly the only method for establishing an internet hotspot though, especially not in North America.

So, other crew members (for example, HGR) were watching the filming as it transpired and that helped them know when they might be needed for wardrobe - or when guns were being used. But that particular day, with the camera crew gone, there was no Video Village. And they were down one camera (due to actions taken by Halyna).

Video Village does have cloud storage, and that enables the director and other interested parties to review what they shot and if necessary, reshoot the same footage the next day. It takes the place of dailies and also aids a lot in making a first reel of the film for the editor (directors love it).

Cloud Storage Function of Video Village (or Equivalent)?

@10ofRods sbm for focus. Thx for your post re VV.

Back to my initial question--- if Rust's VV use* recorded all the voice communications of crew & others on/around set, then seems the cloud could have some revealing convo's re gun transfers & handling. Like who did what, when. And who did not do what, when.

Second, if someone or entity affiliated w Rust asked VV to erase/delete those ^ voice recordings, the requester's identity alone could be, well, illuminating for the plaintiff.

Thanks for your explanation. my2ct

Websites for VV (or similar service co's) describe --
^¶1 the crew-& others ability to live-monitor the set action & to communicate, as the Complaint described.

But websites did not clarify (for all of us here), whether ^ ¶2 cloud storage function was available as part of the service package that the Complaint said that Rust had.

Do you have a URL for the vendor? I'd like to learn more.

Grrr. IMO it is astounding to me that AB gets away with any of his behavior and especially this alleged movie set incident. I can't say exactly what he did but any time he is involved there seems to be a stink storm. If it had been me, I would be in jail because I could not afford bail. Correct me if I am wrong. Isn't there a civil case in play??
