The search hasn't moved to Austin, someone is just engaging in harrassment of BD. It is probably the main reason she felt compelled to move away, to escape that sort of thing.

Respectfully, what makes you disbelieve the authenticity of the flyers placed in Austin? Hailey is still missing. It seems to me that having flyers up in major (and minor) cities all across TX- and several other states as well, for that matter- can only be a positive thing.

I do think it remains a possibility. Unlikely IMO, but a possibility. But then again I think that in many cases where a child, teen, or young adult goes 'poof', with no evidence of foul play. The proximity to Mexico doesn't help me either.

No matter what we all think about SA or BD, or the lifestyle they live... there has really been nothing of any value released besides SA being a POI. The search efforts from the very start were hampered from many different directions. An entire (very small) community cannot hide knowledge of this type of 'poof' disappearance of one of their children forever.

Compare to the Lindsay Baum case, who is listed on Interpol. Why?

I wish Hailey had someone to advocate for her, but I'm not sure she does.

You're right Oriah, Lindsey was put on Interpol because of WA State's close proximity to Canada. I don't recall how much time had passed before that happened. There was no tip in Lindsey's case that pointed to Canada, it was strictly to cover-all-the-possibilities. Why hasn't that happened for Hailey?

As I think about the contrast in the two cases, this comes to mind. In Lindsey's case, the FBI was heavily involved along with GHCSO. I remember being very excited when the CARD Team (http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/investigate/vc_majorthefts/cac/card) entered the investigation. Sadly though, today is the 2 year anniversary of Lindsey's disappearance.

I hope we are not here discussing Hailey in this way eighteen months from now. IMO, Hailey did not get all the resources Lindsey did. Melissa and the search center team which was comprised of members from Websleuths (JenO, Breanna, JVK and others) were strong and very vocal advocates for Lindsey. Sweet Hailey well, I don't think I need to spell out what the adults in her life did after she went missing ... Sad, just very sad.

This is untrue. The search has been in Austin since the days Hailey was considered a runaway. My husband and I have placed hundreds of fliers, the orange HFH fliers, not the ugly Statement Analysis flier, and never as harassment toward BD. NEVER. We had no idea anyone related to Hailey would be coming to Austin to live. We started posting those fliers in the hope that Hailey was here, lots of young runaways live on the Drag and hang out downtown. As it became clear Hailey did not run we kept up to keep her face out there. We also place fliers for other missing. We've just done far more for Hailey as her case has hit us so hard and we have to DO something for her between trips to CCity.

Thank you for doing that, KTOTR.

Hailey is still missing; let's help keep her face out there.

According the cbs7 this morning, search efforts for Hailey Dunn ended 7/13/11.

I believe that was one particular group that was scaling back on ground searches due to the heat.

and the fact that volunteer searchers is dwindling, forcing the issue.

So much more could be accomplished if BD and SA would talk. A pipe dream on my part.

Why on earth would she consider posters of her missing daughter harassment? Isn't it in her interests to have Hailey found?

:boohoo::boohoo::boohoo:

Too bad she hasn't been compelled to search for her missing daughter.

IMO, if anyone should be hanging up flyers in Austin, it's BD! After all, she has always claimed this was a case of stranger abduction.

Quite odd that the Mother of a missing child considers the Child's Missing Poster a form of harassment...Freakin' unbelievable!

It would certainly be helpful if someone were to come forward with information about Hailey's whereabouts.

Fortunately, I don't think ALL searches are dwindling!

Hailey, it's hot outside; but that doesn't prevent searching for you. And it most certainly doesn't prevent finding out what may have happened to you- and whether or not you are safe.

Still searching for you, Hailey.

I still have to catch up on this case (been wrapped up in CA trial since I was raised in Orlando), but just have to add that the ranch my ex and I owned was up in the area of Abilene, and there are parts of the area near CC that are vast stretches of arid cattle ranches. It could take almost forever to find someone, assuming the worst, in those areas. Sad. Very sad. I'll catch up.

The group announcing the article that was made public on 7-13-11, I have to say, another part of this has to do with emotional drain. Most of them have been out there every weekend for
months. The 7-10-11 search was a tough day knowing what was coming. When the coordinator
who was interviewed spoke at the end of the day everyone was racked with sobs. Believe me, this was not a decision taken lightly or easily made. NO, WE HAVE NOT GIVEN UP ON HAILEY. There is so much love for Hailey in this group I can't even begin to try and put it into words. My husband is asleep and I am itching to out fliering. Probably not the best idea to go out walking alone after 1am lol! But I feel very :banghead:

Not to mention most of the landowners won't give permission to search their land.

annnnnd while I'm at it... HI THERE Jackalyn

That's so horrible. We had a 700 acre ranch (the "small ranch down the road" to the locals), but if someone wanted to conduct a search on it for a MP, I'd have given permission in a nanosecond!! So would my ex! What is wrong with people?

How very sad.

that is one of the saddest parts of this...or any search for a missing child or person...when landowners will not give responsible/organized, etc. searchers specific permissions...just very sad
