All Sauvie Island Searches

thanks for the new thread. I have been questioning this search all week, spinning it over and over, and I can't help wondering why - if this area is so important, why take 5 days off before returning to the same site you already searched? Thats 5 days of weather...5 days of animal traffic...5 day lead for the perp to retrieve the goods and get outta dodge...

There's been several months of weather, animal traffic and chances for the perp to go there and pick up something already. I think they can arrange the searches better in the weekends because volunteers can't take time off their regular jobs.

Lindstrand said searchers are likely to comb the same areas of the island as last weekend when dozens of people on foot, ATVs, horseback and with dogs tromped through fields and hacked through blackberry bushes.

I think it is because whatever they are searching for "THEY" think has been there for 4 months, so... 5 days doesn't make a difference in their minds now.

Logistics probably make it easier for more searches to help on the weekends also. Searchers probably have time off from their regular everyday jobs.

I hope something is found this weekend that will help this case. I wait everyday to hear that Kyron comes home.
my point was that if I had put something out there thinking it wasn't going to be found and then searches resumed, I might be back out there monday after the coast was clear to dislodge any evidence from its home.

I'm curious why 6 days can go past until the next search. Is something magical supposed to happen on the weekend? If whatever they're looking for so earnestly is worth finding, why is the search not continuous?

And just as I typed that I figured that probably a part of it is that the volunteers might not be able to do it during the week.

(My day is filled with d'oh today)

bbm. on many cases I have followed follow up searches happen on weekends when more manpower is available.

I am sure searches would be continuous if humanly possible.

If they really think he may be out there and do not find him this weekend, I hope they consider contacting Tim Miller. This is the kind of search he and his group seem to made for.

Hah hah, you gotta be kidding! We're Gore-tex-clad Oregonians! Rain doesn't keep us indoors! I was just thinking of looking into volunteering for the PD so I might get involved.
Well isn't part of the reason for the return that the water table is lowest right now?
Oh and welcome and remind me to use great care when typing your name! LOL -- You won't believe what my over 40 eyes first thought it said!

How long do the SAR dogs have to rest? between searches?
and the main officer was hit by a drunk driver, could this be the delay also.

All the twists are getting harder and harder for me to keep straight. But regarding your observations, 32, maybe they ARE waiting to see who will come out to make sure everything is still as it should be. As we all now know, SI only has one access road, and it would be easy to monitor every vehicle and pedestrian who comes onto the island. Especially for the one week between searches. If Terri or anyone in LE's sites goes out there, they could track that person's every move. In fact, they could just have a guy parked at the island side of the bridge - there are always trucks, busses and a few municipal vehicles in the lot right by the bridge. I assume it's a peaceful place to take a lunch break, but it'd also be a great place to sit & monitor the traffic. Or set up a camera in a vehicle.

It seems a little strange they would search for a couple of days for "evidence" and let the media have its way with it, only to take a few days off before resuming the search on the coming weekend. That gives any guilty parties a 5 day window to assess the situation and alter any crime scene or displace any evidence that may have been discovered otherwise. It's like saying "come out, come out, wherever you are....!" and expecting that person to step out from behind the tree and submit gracefully. I don't think so. seems as though they threw some time on it to quiet the angry hoards and now they're giving the perp time to collect his thoughts. hope they know what they're doing...

Sociopaths can stay calm because it's all data to them and a 'win' versus an emotional response. In her mind, if she is guilty and that's a big IF, I imagine she thought of this as a transaction that had to be made due to the circumstances the that _A()*$##$ KH put her in. She would blame KH for this. If he wasn't such a womanizer/jerk/control freak/lazybutt (whatever justification she'll surely come up with), then she wouldn't have HAD to do what she did.

So when she gets back, she just thinks well, that was a shame, but...who's on FB?! Who's ready for the gym?!

Also, as for the posts about lugging the baby in and out of the truck. IMO she left the baby in the truck, whether she was screaming or sleeping it didn't matter to TH, no one was around to hear or see or we'd have alot more answers.

ITA with everything you said...you are point on...

Imo, in part due to availability of search teams. Obviously whatever they are searching for hasn't been recovered yet. Nature also has its own timing in when it releases something dumped onto or into it. Ex: Lacy Peterson. Her body did eventually resurface, but it took some time. With all the weather changes going on since Kyron disappeared, I'm sure they are keeping these changes in mind and that repeating searches can be beneficial.

Or, they could be trying to sucker the perp into going back out there to destroy evidence/check things..... Wonder if they set up any cameras last weekend? :fish:

Hidden cameras in frogs and birds are the big thing. Both cover a lot of ground - one by air, the other by land/water.

would be a great idea. With all my heart I wish LE find whatever is necessary to bring justice to Kyron and his loved ones. Evidence to make an arrest and put the predator behind bars, whomever it may be. moo

We are a couple days into the 5th month with no substantial facts that we know of. Something must be bringing LE to SI, I highly doubt they had no other place to search. So I say loud and clear...justice for Kyron...let this weekend be the one. moo mho

As much as I feel for Desiree and want her to be able to hang onto her hope...I think it is time for Kyron to be found. Desiree is still a young woman and she has a lot of years ahead of her, and if she is to receive the worst possible shock, she needs to be able to begin the long path of grieving.

I talked to a Columbia Co Deputy last weekend, and yes the water levels are lower than they were earlier in the summer.

I drove around today in the areas I saw them searching LAST weekend and shot a few pics..
I did NOT see any searchers today, but yet that place is SO big I would have NEVER seen a team of searchers without great luck.
During the big searches it's easier as you can spot the shuttle vans and other SAR vehicles.

I DO want to say that DURING the searches I stay out of their way and when I do take pictures I ASK (unless they are far away) as I never ever want to get in their way. =)

explanations of the areas are below the photos in description in the photobucket.

Again, I saw NO searchers today.. they could or could not have been there, I have no clue...

Thank you freefallzzzz for all that you do for us sleuthers. Locals are truly a blessing.

Picture #5 is truly disturbing and sad. I pray they find you soon Kyron, so you may RIP. You truly deserve it, little one. :(
