All Sauvie Island Searches

The sun just came out!!!! Forecast still says more rain later today but looking at the dopplar, it seems to have cleared out. Yay! It's a tiny bit chillier than yesterday but not overly cold. Still a few more hours of searching (I think)

YAAAYYYYYYY!!!

Cooler but above freezing is better for SAR dogs. It's a lot easier to scent when your body isn't also demanding you pant to cool it down.

I was just looking the places they're searching. It seems like they are searching "everywhere". If the info came from someone who physically saw TH or the truck, then I don't think they'd be searching such a wide area, would they? IDK I think it's either cell pings, or an IP on her laptop told them she was somewhere near a wifi area. Lord, I hope they have more then just cell pings, cuz if I understand correctly how they work, they could be searching forever. :(

I hope they're searching everywhere in certain locations. It needs to be done, and especially after they have used so many resources to find Kyron through other individuals and contacts, so far without success. Hoping every inch around the home, neighborhood, and school is next.

From Freefallzzz: Sounds like they are wrapping up for the day.

I guess we have two threads regarding Sauvie...maybe should be merged??

Freefallzzzz says they are starting to come back in now.

Another report from Free:
She saw teams on NW Rentanaar Road today. They seem to be covering every area/path on both sides of the road. Also saw horses/searchers by the sunflower field by the county line and along Reeder Road again.

I'll be watching the 5:00 news to see if they say anything more about additional searches planned.

Good idea to merge them. :)

Has this article been posted here already, if so I apologize.

http://www.koinlocal6.com/content/n...ekend-Kaine-Terri/TK8a5e4l6kamcz-eOG46Fw.cspx

One source told KOIN Local 6 that searchers were in the area following up on cell phone pings from the area.

That source said those pings were linked to Terri Horman's cell phone back on June 4th, the day Kyron was last seen.

Billy, I hadn't seen that. Of course it's the usual "source" but hey, it's something. Thanks for finding that!

Yes, I think one of the most mysterious things about this case is the constant unamed sources here. It's like trying to figure out who Deep Throat was.

Mary Lindstand on KATU's 5:00 news.

"Well I don't want to give the details but we are following up on what we were doing out here last week" :waitasec:

Reporter :" MCSO said too early to tell whether they will be out again next weekend."

Yes, I do it all the time (use other people's WiFi when traveling with my laptop). As for why the Island Cafe didn't trace her IP, the cafe probably aren't tech people and they just offer free WiFi to anyone as a convenience. She easily could have sat in their parking lot and used it and they wouldn't know.

So, can all the IP addresses that went through that Island Cafe be logged? Absolutely. Then the LE would have the task of tracing who used the WiFi during what period of time, and as far as I know that can only be done by getting the MAC address (uniquely identifies every computer and cell phone) assuming again she had a laptop or smartphone.

Technology FYI:
An IP address is 'leased' to your computer/smartphone depending on where you are and can change.
A MAC address is a unique identifier to computers/smartphones - think of it like your home address - it doesn't change.

Would this all be time consuming for LE to trace? No, but search warrants I'm sure were involved and then if TH used a smartphone/device that LE couldn't get possession of (think bat phones), they have to tie that to her somehow.

My thoughts are it would be why they keep coming back to SI - because they somehow placed her near this cafe.

Of course, I have no clue, but it does all make sense from a tech perspective. Thanks to BeanE and Loves2Bmom for the interesting thoughts.

If Terri is a devious as people think she could have piggybacked ANY Wifi signal, connected through a proxy server with a completely untraceable IP and used a small software program to change her Mac address....just saying :innocent:
The problem is I'm sure that laptop is still in her possession, if they had any Idea she had used it from that location they would have taken it a long time ago.
If the laptop is not in her possession and she gave it up willingly when this all began, computer forensics would have determined from where she accessed the internet long ago. I would be disappointed if they were just getting round to checking things out now.
I don't think it has anything to do with the laptop and that location.

If she has an iphone or something like it, she could have taken the picture on her iphone and posted it on her facebook at any time during the day. It would have pinged when she posted it though.

Not a lot of pumpkin seeds on the roads in June.

Not on the road silly, in a field, planted. If I'm thinking back right, that would have been about the time to start planting pumpkin seeds. Which also means ground would be loose and disturbed in the fields by a plow. Anyone know when they were plowing and planting?

Wow,Gwenabob, doesn't that really resonate ? When Kyron first vanished back on 6/4, children were getting ready for their summer break.... now it's time to visit the pumpkin patch... Poor little Kyron... :(

From Oct. 2nd, this one at least is a quote:

Lindstrand stressed this search “is not the result of any new leads but the sheriff’s desire to be thorough in their investigation.”

Went out for a drive with the dbf this afternoon. Was hoping the searchers would all be gone but sure enough, we saw some pop out on side of Reeder Rd somewhere past the first store you pass on Reeder Rd ( Reeder Beach Country Store I believe)

Went to the Sauvie Island Wildlife Viewing Platform #1 (right past the Mult/Columb County line) and saw mounted posse searchers

Went down Rentenaar Rd and saw at least 3 teams of SAR's that looked like they had just finished up for the day.

That is just what I saw at that point in time(s)

Took some pics, as I saw more search tape and tried to explain the areas better in the descriptions.

But it just seems they have tried to search off every non private road at least on Reeder Rd, along Reeder Rd, and yes I did hear they were on Oak Island Rd again today. I have given up on trying to figure out "why" they are out there other than looking for Kyron..=)..

The dbf is an avid fisherman and hunter, he could easily tell me if it was animal or people that had disturbed and made trails into the brush along the sides of some roads..

He has fished there a lot, in the lakes, rivers, and hunted also for many many years, and told me a lot of stuff about the rivers, the tide coming in and a bunch of other stuff that I have now forgot! =)

Nothing special in the photobucket but I was interested in the search tape I saw in the cornfield..

Seeing the searchers and serach areas is so more heartbreaking in the rain, somehow...:(

Then we have this from Oct. 2:

Recently-developed information led investigators to conclude there were areas of Sauvie Island that needed to be examined--and in some cases, reexamined--in greater detail.

Lindstrand did not say exactly what evidence the crews were looking for. But she said they were not following up on any one new tip. "We're being thorough, is what we're doing," she said.
