All Sauvie Island Searches

Whatever landfil that Portland trash goes to.

I also wish that Tim Miller could go to Portland. I wish that his parents would reach out to Miller.

There is no local landfill for Portland garbage.
The garbage is sent to a transfer station (in NW Portland in this case) and trucked to Eastern Oregon.
The transfer station was checked, before the Sauvie searches even started.

Pdx or others: What about dumping a body where there's no regular activity? Maybe Esco’s industrial landfill on the southern end of the island?

All I know about that is that Esco's security is quite tight; a person couldn't just wander in there. There is another light industrial property there on the southern end of the island & I know searchers went thoroughly over it.

Focus seems to have been more at the center of the island & there may have been other searches conducted that weren't reported in MSM.

Hi PDX, I was wondering if anyone has checked this area yet? Tuba has posted a map in the astro thread that shows an ancient map of this area and it used to be a family graveyard, I think.

I noticed a small pond at the end of the route I highlighted in blue. Is this a private dirt road or can people get in here? Thank you so much for you dedication in this case, I can't believe that nothing has happened in this case....

Thank you. I was thinking that most landfills have some kind of caretakers or guards. There's a short timeline in TH's case and if she had been seen near a landfill I'm sure they would have searched it by now.

If you go back a few pages, I made a list of all the searches. There's some reason (or maybe more than one reason) they focused on Sauvie Island after the areas around the school had been searched.

Does this need it's own thread?Does any one have a map of this area to show?I wonder what lead them to this area. This sounds pretty serious with cadaver dogs.Wasn't this area mentioned before by someone.I pray they are led to little Kyron and if he is out there they find him.

Search for Kyron Horman resumes today North and West of Portland.

http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2011/01/search_for_kyron_horman_resume.html

The seven-month search for missing Kyron Horman turns its focus today on two rural locations north and west of Portland as investigators run down specific intelligence they've developed and warmer weather conditions now provide a window of opportunity.

Between 40 to 50 search-and-rescue workers, along with up to seven cadaver-detecting dogs, will be combing the dense forested area around turnouts, trailheads, and gated logging roads along a stretch of [ame="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=NW+Skyline+Blvd,+Portland,+Multnomah,+Oregon&aq=&sll=45.713491,-122.968082&sspn=0.081386,0.172005&ie=UTF8&geocode=FQ_jtwIdJrat-A&split=0&hq=&hnear=NW+Skyline+Blvd,+Portland,+Multnomah,+Oregon&ll=45.731827,-122.94508&spn=0.084355,0.237408&z=13"]Northwest Skyline Road, south of Rocky Point Road and a gravel road further north in the Dixie Mountain area[/ame].

The private timber land crosses into unincorporated areas of Multnomah, Washington and Columbia counties, and reaches elevations of between 1,000 and 1,500 feet.

"Weather conditions prevented the searching of these two locations a month or six weeks ago because of the snow up there, and dogs are not effective when it's below 40 degrees," said Multnomah County Sheriff's Sgt. Keith Krafve, a supervisor of the Kyron Horman Task Force.

"There're very specific reasons why we're here," said Multnomah County deputy sheriff Mark Herron, a search and rescue coordinator on the task force.

"We'll be looking for all those things that are Kyron associated," he said, adding that the searchers will also be looking for anything that might have been left by those involved with Kyron's disappearance.

yes, I think it deserves it's own thread. I copied your post over to start it.

This new search makes me think it has something to do with the tip during the summer from that guy "Chas" who saw a white truck come out of a side road somewhere north of Logie Road. Rocky Point Road is a few roads north of there. I'm looking for the link and I can't find it now. It's in this forum in a few different places. I hope this search leads to something, anything.

I'm going to look over the list of searched areas now, TY ThoughtFox and everyone!

Hi matou, long time.. :)
Yes, there are three very interesting (to me) areas right adjacent to each other there. I believe the one you're pointing to is on private land/road.
That is interesting about the astro thread. I think the area was discussed in the dreams thread a long time ago.

It's also really near the home of the suspect they're searching for in the shooting, down on the coast in Waldport. Weird!

Can I put this here?Desiree said in a video they are doing a search East of the school 11 acres? It is not Sauvie Island right?Did she say Forrest Park?Has anyone heard more on this or any more searches going on?

If you listen to that video posted on the other thread..it's in the question and answer section. She references Forest Park but only in regard to describing the terrain near the school She says it's hilly...rough terrain. . She says that now they are searching this "specific" area east of the school...it's about 11 acres. Evidence to indicate that Terri was there.

I have the same question...Is this a different location from Sauvie Island? Perhaps there are things going on quietly in this case.

Thank you.I'm just confused about the area she said.It didn't sound like Sauvie Island. What evidence?A white truck?

Did they or are they doing this search now?Any locals know anything or hear anything?I am very interested in all the searches being done.

Ms. Suzanne, if they ARE searching, I think they are doing it quietly and in small groups. But there is no way to know, if the media does not catch on.

I do believe if I were a resident of the area I'd be at the Multnomah County Commissioners meeting Thursday morning with notes and a reference to Desiree's TV interview. And I'd have given my commissioners an urgent message with same before the meeting, requesting that Staton address that new search location.

I think she misspoke and meant WEST of the school which is where they did the most recent search. JMO

Re: Sauvie Island searches, DY didn’t give any further info other than the latest search focus is 11 acres east of the school. While Sauvie’s is east, it’s also north and she described SI as being northeast of the school just moments before she talks about latest search area. Forest Park is also east of the school (although I’ve always doubted FP as a dumping grounds).

More immediately to the east of the school, it appears there is private or public forest land with logging roads, heavy vegetation cover, and steep ravines draining into McCarthy Creek.

PDX wondered, just before the Roseburg thread closed (then reopened), if DY actually meant “west of the school.” IDK. Could be.

As to renewed searches, at the end of the Dixie Mt searches, MSCO posted this:

http://www.flashalert.net/news.html?id=1276&alert=1

01/30/11
Update
The searches have concluded for the day. There were eleven areas designated to be searched by canine teams seven of these area were searched. There were also three other area designated to be searched by ground crews, one of these areas was completed. The date for the next search has yet to be determine.

I just emailed the Public Info Officer at MCSO asking for clarification about the search area Desiree mentioned. And asking if they could confirm that info as well as the other "evidence" she referenced was released with the approval of MCSO. Or anything else they're willing to say.

I hit me that maybe she should not be putting this out in public right now. She's been so cautious, I ASSume she did so with MCSO's approval. But it's hard to believe they'd want the search area mentioned; they'd intentionally omitted that previously.

If she's just doing this to challenge MCSO, push them to name a suspect (her favorite candidate, of course!) or something along those lines--well, that might not be a good strategy in the long run.

As to the area, Terri herself covered a lot of territory on June 4. Including a few parking lots.
