page 189 - 10/27/2009 - Corp Edwards got phone call from Joseph Jordan. Joseph interviewed by Mortimer Smith at Atty Kelly Sims's office. Joseph said he recorded the interview. Joseph said he was shown a search form that contained his name and listed a team leader by the name of Laura Buchanan. Joseph felt that the form was not a genuine document and that the search outlined on the sheet had not occurred. He received a call from a female identifying herself as a Kentucky law enforcement officer. ....the female state her name was Laura Buchanan and that she had searched the area where Caylee remains were found, with him. She stressed that the body was not in the area at the time of the search. Joseph said the caller was requesting that he go to the office of Jose Baez with the information. Joseph was nervous regarding his illegal recording of the interview. .....

My thoughts: Laura's form says she has an address in Kentucky, and is employed by "Dept Fish" (and Game?). This would be law enforcement. I think she wanted Joe J. to think she was with a police dept or Sheriff's Office though.

Joe J. said in his interview that he had looked up Laura B. and found about 10 pages on the internet about her, and that she was a friend of the Anthonys! Joe said he would get the info he found on Laura and give it to LE.

She posted a message to Caylee publicly back in October of 2008 wherein she gushes about the Anthonys and how much they love Caylee. It is www.respectance.com/CayleeAnthony/index/236 on page two

Anyone have an egg timer? IMO......She is going to cave , folks like this will not hold up against Jeff Ashton and Linda Drane Burdick, I give her five minutes. Tops! The defense sure can pick 'em! Was Jose in the first half of the state's depo? No wonder he is backing off of her as someone to as Kathi calls it...hang his hat on.

"Tim Miller was questioned about TES documents regarding Laura B., and said that TES did not have any documents indicating Laura B was assigned to search the area of Suburban Drive and Hopespring Drive."

The records that the Defense reviewed on Monday and Tuesday were from TES documents in Texas.

There is no chance that this tactic could possibly be 100% effective anyway, no matter how much time they were given. They would be miracle workers if they could contact all 4,000 people! Imagine how many people have moved or changed their phone numbers . . . Since I do not believe contacting the volunteers was their real motive to begin with ~ I am doubtful that they will put all their effort into it. I think they actually only wanted to try to discover anyone that had anything suspicious in their background that would be helpful to them with their SODDI defense.

If their motives were true they would have been putting out ads in all the local newspapers, fliers and posters requesting everyone who searched to call them.

At first, I was hugely offended and upset that they were using all these volunteers to try to shift Casey's guilt. But I finally decided that JB and team did not deserve any reaction from me. They are not even worthy of my emotion. I will find it only a small irritant if they call me now; my irritation lies in the fact that they are so desperate that they are trying to turn the good will of generous people into questionable motives.

If they ever do call me or my son ~ their call and our answers will certainly not be the definition or highlight of the day for any of us involved. They have turned it into a stall tactic now. . . only one more dead-end in the progress toward finding justice for Caylee.

I must admit here, though, that I do still have this little imp in my head that keeps telling me that if they are asking me some questions I, too, can ask a couple to verify who they are, what their job title is, what phone they're using, etc. I will try to keep that imp quiet but, sheesh, I want to know some things, too.

EU, you are right, they have made no efforts in searching for others who may have searched, much like the time and enthusiasm OJ spent looking for the real killer, people tell on themselves!

Remain calm about the calls, just know that this judge is all about heading off potential appeals, it is rather perfunctory that he is going through the checklist of making SURE there is no later claim they were denied the ability to at least place the calls

I DO NOT BELIEVE THEY WOULD SAVE YOUR NUMBER AND CALL OUTSIDE OF THE RULES , JUDGE PERRY WOULD HAVE THEM UP ON BAR CHARGES!

I don't know, fla*mom. Maybe they won't even want to call me as I only worked the admin portion. But my son went with me; he was a team leader ~ and he hasn't received any calls either.

I know the Defense is done with the 2 days JP gave them but if they want to call ALL the searchers they will have to ask JP for more time.

I am wondering though, has any volunteer who was Not "on" Suburban (anywhere on Suburban) been called?

I wonder if the Defense team was looking through the paperwork for those searchers that were were assigned to the "Suburdan drive area" within (let's say a 5-10 mile radius) and only call them, before moving onto to the searchers that were in other locations?

It's also possible that they are phoning in alphabetical order. Or by every third form in the file. Or they make smaller piles for each caller, and they start at the top. Or randomly.

Baez and Mason, et al, have no basic plan for how they will defend Casey. What makes anyone think they have a logical, structured plan for calling?

LDB told the Judge that the State only learned of the questionable document during their deposition of Laura B. on Aug. 16th. LDB had to wait for Laura B's attorney to FAX this document to LDB. There was a sticky note showing that Laura had given the doc to the Defense P.I. Mort S..

LDB - things I am concerned about - things in the depo of Laura Buch on Aug 16th - she in NJ - had docs from TES she had a third doc in her possession that LDB did not have, Mason did not have them, her lawyer had to FAX that to us, I determined it was not in TES items - somehow this witness had a doc that was not provided, we did not have, complicated our ability to continue - wait for FAX


LDB - it was faxed to me - had a sticky note attached that said "From Laura to Mort"- he is the Defense investigator
Laura sent this doc to Mr. Smith - this witness had it
witness had looked at aerial photos and a map - not provided to us either
had to suspend deposition - reschedule Oct 13th

I don't know what number search I was on, but it was the really big one, with the staging area in an industrial area.

Someone asked if it may have been in aphabetical order, my last name starts with S and I got called early afternoon on the first day.

I don't know if that helps at all.

I have no idea what form they were calling off of, but I was flustered a bit during the call. When they asked me what date did search I said "the big one I think it was in Aug." I said well you have my paper in front of you thinking that they had it all there. Maybe not. Also they wanted to know who my leader was, I have forgotten his name, I again said well you should have that info. I was just going on that they had the sheet saying who was our leader, where we searched ect.

I an not sure what paper they were allowed to see. Confusing for sure. Or how much info was put on both sheets.
