And they may have been fearful to go to court on the 30th without at least giving the impression they were trying to do what the judge told them to do, twice. What I want to see is how they answer JB if he asks them how many depositions they've done so far. lol

 Of course they're not suddenly gonna get religion! Got fooled again. Well, bummer.

Sounds like maybe they're doing it for appearances' sake. I wonder how long they stayed there. Doesn't it take forever to comb through all that stuff, especially with over 4,000 volunteers? IIRC don't lawyers usually send lackeys to flag anything important, make notes and then ask the judge for permission to copy what they deem relevant?

***WKMG reported that Anthony defense attorneys Jose Baez and Cheney Mason visited the office of Mark NeJame, attorney for Texas EquuSearch. The Anthony attorneys went to look at records of EquuSearch volunteers; the defense had wanted photocopies of the records.

I've got a feeling that the defense is not done yet with trying to get ALL of TES records. But this time, they aren't going to allow NeJame claim that they "haven't even looked at the records in question."

Shortly after Local 6 arrived at Nejame's office, Anthony's attorneys stormed off.

Baez and Mason would not explain why they were finally viewing the records, and it's not known if the attorneys would be returning to Nejame's office.

I guess they didn't want to be on camera for a change? I also wonder how much time they spent going through the documents. Will it be enough for Perry to rule they can copy them (if he were to do that!)

I feel a new Subpoena Duces Tecum coming on!

"On Friday, for the first time in eight months, the attorneys visited Nejame's office and were caught on video inside a conference room looking through boxes of documents."

And, I'm curious to know how the media was tipped off.

If their staff is drawing up the motions you can see why they went themselves. LOL Maybe they will send someone over when they have breezed through them. JB may not mind looking foolish but I don't think CM wants the judge to bring him down a peg or two. Better spit polish those boots CM.

I think because defense thought JS would not excuse himself because the charges were so ridiculous. jmo

--respectfully snipped

IIRC the SA (LDB, I believe) stated that they spent 6-8 hrs. over at NeJames office reviewing the docs. (I can't swear to that because I can't recall if I heard her say it in court or saw it written somewhere, but I am pretty sure she said that.) BC reviewed them also, although I can't recall if he specified a time spent. However, by Baez's own admission to Judge Strickland, "We don't know what we're looking for." (ie. it is simply a fishing expedition...he might as well had used those words, specifying a 'red herring' because everyone knew that was exactly what it was). Well, if ya don't know what you're looking for, it is gonna take a LOT more time. Simply put, out of 4,000 volunteers they looking for another Kronk, JG, or worse....let's face it - out of 4,000 ppl, a few are bound to have some ghosts hiding in their closets. THOSE are the people Baez & CM are looking for. NeJame is fighting to protect their rights to privacy as citizens, volunteers who were NOT acting as agents of the State.

And yes, if you find a doc that you think is relevant, you tab it and make a specific motion asking the Judge to approve copies of those specific docs to be made available to the defense so they can further investigate. I would think the defense would still have to show 'good cause', but I'm not positive about that.

As for who tipped the media off, well....what's that ol saying about paybacks....? ;) If they were tipped off, not cool. Especially with cameras in the conference room. However, maybe the defense should have thought about that before making the Motion for JS to recuse himself available to the media hours before they filed it at 4:48 pm last Friday.

And, YES, this was definetly for appearances sake before facing Judge Perry for the first time. IMO

Very interesting point. According to the article in the daily news thread, it was WKMG who reported they were looking at the records. I know I have read somewhere, more than likely here, that WKMG has been leaning towards the defense lately - if I can use that term. I will have to go and see if I can find the post or posts that talked about how 'defense friendly' WKMG has been lately.

Now THAT would be interesting!!!

Maybe there making "nice, nice" to keep the trial in Orlando. Closing that "the media is biased" door. jmo

Bold mine.

Probably the same way all the "leaks" become public...the defense themselves. Gotta show da judge that they are good little boys.

From the article-
Meanwhile, two of Casey Anthony's attorneys, Jose Baez and Cheney Mason, were spotted by Local 6 News at the office of attorney Mark Nejame, who represents the group Texas EquuSearch, which helped look for Caylee.

On Friday, for the first time in eight months, the attorneys visited Nejame's office and were caught on video inside a conference room looking through boxes of documents.

Although the attorney representing Texas EquuSearch said none of the 4,000 volunteers searched the exact spot where Caylee's remains were found, Anthony's defense team wanted to see for themselves. Shortly after Local 6 arrived at Nejame's office, Anthony's attorneys stormed off.

It seems odd that Baez and Mason, rather than an assistant of theirs, would personally review boxes of records from 4,000 volunteer documents. Does anyone else believe that there was some other purpose for Baez and Mason to visit Najame’s (TES’s attorney) office?

I found my answer. Maybe they are finally going to prove that they are “not a lazy defense team”.
---------------------------------
http://www.examiner.com/x-1168-Crim...ls-Jose-Baez-lazy-during-Monday-court-hearing

NeJame, however, noted in court that the records (TES’s) have always been available, but due to Baez’s “…laziness or sloppiness,” the defense has failed to view or access them.

During the hearing, EquuSearch’s attorney, Mark NeJame, made reference to Jose Baez being lazy.

NeJame "also refuted Baez’s suggestion that the volunteer information may contain a bombshell, since the defense hasn’t even looked at the documents.” He also asked the court to sanction Baez for wasting the court’s time.

(LOL for the bolded statement by NaJame)

It looks like NeJames has filed a motion asking Judge Perry to settle this issue once and for all.
Sorry, I don't know how to paste links yet - on the thread of Todays News

Oh so in other words Mr. Baez is still up to his ears in his old tricks?

Here is the link Logicalgirl speaks of and quote from source:

"A source said officials with Texas EquuSearch want the new judge in the case, Belvin Perry, to weigh in because they're they are fed up with playing the waiting game with Anthony's defense."

Bold is mine. Wow, how freaking mature. Did they just want to be seen? It's stuff like that that makes me so mad. They can't do it professionally and send their assistants over, so they go over themselves and storm off Anthony style when they are caught looking at the documents? Like getting caught doing actual work for their client is a bad thing? WTH?

I'd think that'd be actual GOOD publicity for once, which they DESPERATELY need! I hate to break it to you "boys", but acting immaturely only makes you look WORSE! And no, you can't claim the press prevented you from doing work. YOU made the decision to storm off like little children!

I. Just. Do. Not. Get. This. Defense. AT ALL!!!!!!!!

I swear, the Casey Koolaid has turned into Casey Cocktails! It's the only explanation!

Immaturity at its finest. Poor Jose probably got a paper cut from digging in the first file box, and it hurt soo soooo bad! Wah!

when i read this story, the first thing i wondered was: HOW did the news channel KNOW that baez and cheney were going to be at nejame's office? call me cynical, but i immediately thought that baez and cheney (or someone on their "team") notified the media themselves, just so they could cry: "unfair, unfair"

i mean come on, why did they storm off? couldn't they have just closed the drapes?

I have a good friend who is a reporter at Local 6 and I'm so tempted to ask them if they were tipped off as to Mason and Baez being there. I don't like asking this person stuff like that though because I think it's kind of rude. SO weird they wouldn't send assistants to do that for them. They should know there is nothing of relevance in those search records. With as diligent and thorough as I saw TES search, if they had been in that area - I am willing to bet lots of money they would have found her. I think most of the searches were conducted within a 3 mile radius of the Anthony home, but I don't think we could have imagined Caylee would be THAT close. They wouldn't have stormed off if they didn't inherently know it was a waste..a HUGE waste..IMO.

I don't have any clue what the defense is up to with this nonsense, but I do not understand something. Ok, they were there to view the records, and then the media showed up, so they left...huh? Why? Why were they not professional and just remain there and do their job? Are they afraid of the media? Mad? What was that all about??
