Alleged abuse photos

I'd like to know more about those absences directly after this injury, also. It may or may not mean something, but I'd still like to know of any doctor visits, parent-written excuses to the school for absences, any diagnostics like ct scans, etc. Things that would support her being out for so long. In any case, you can be sure so much attention has been brought to it now, Child Services will have to look at it again, with a fine tooth comb, if they didn't already.

Another thing that seems curious to me, is that quite a few pics have been taken over time of her scratches & injuries. Why? I wouldn't think to photograph every bruise & scratch my child has had (even if I was a non-custodial parent).

The fact that she took these pics says to me that she truly believes RC was abusing the kids. Seeing these pictures only solidifies my opinion that RC is an abuser. Not just verbal, but physical as well.
Perhaps these photos are from normal injuries...but Crystal never would have taken the photos if she didn't think RC was abusive.

Why was Crystal so worried that RC was physically abusing her children? What has he done in the past that would make her worry that he would hurt the kids?

I pray for Jr all the time. I hope the courts make the best choice for him...which may be placement with someone other than the parents. Poor little guy...

Those photos are very, very weak to use to try to paint RC as an abuser. CS should be embarrassed.

Apparently that's why this is called a rumor thread, anybody can throw anything out there with nothing to base it on and ignore all inquests...Ooops, what do you know, this isn't even the "rumor thread"...anyhow can anyone at least tell me if the pics that Crystal took were taken on November 16th? I would appreciate it -TIA

MOO

I wasn't sure how to read your post nomoresorrow :waitasec: so at the risk that you weren't being sarcastic :)

There is no timestamp for those pictures. There were two reasons for that outlined in art harris' article.

IIRC, 1. When the lawyer got the camera the memory card was erased (have to go back and reread if Lawyer accidently erased it or it was done prior to her having it).

2. CS had turned off the timestamp feature because she didn't like the look of dates on a print.
I'd like to get a consensus about other peoples' experience with digital cameras, because I have some questions concerning the timestamp issue.

Do you have problems with the timestamp appearing on your photo prints when you don't want them to?
What actions do you have to take to correct this.

Do you find times when you do want a timestamp to appear in the prints?
What actions do you have to take with your camera to achieve this?

Do you see timestamps in the computer displayed images or only in the prints?

Have you ever tried to change a photo after it was taken so that it would (or would not) display a timestamp either in the print or in a displayed image?
How successful were you?
What did you have to do to achieve this?

It would be helpful to include the make, model, and year of the camera in question if you respond to this post.
Also, do you know what image format (file type) or formats your camera saves images to.
Do you know what format it defaults to?

I'm sure you're wondering, so I'll answer in advance. The reason I'm curious is that I do not want to jump to conclusions, but my understanding of most currently popular digital image formats is that the time/date info is contained within the image file itself, and is not affected by camera print settings, and would be transferred with that image file so that the state of the memory card at any later time would be completely irrelevant.

This info is not generally seen when viewing an image, but can be reviewed by looking at the image property characteristics. Please understand, it is not hidden or secret, merely not part of the initial display. Different image formats can contain more or less info, and there is a sad lack of standards across camera makers sometimes but it is there, and for the most popular formats (.tiff, .jpg, etc.) the standards are very clear.

I am not any sort of an authority on digital imaging, and this is why I'm curious about other peoples' experiences. Older cameras may behave in a fashion which could support the Art Harris article's explanation about timestamp data loss for these images that Crystal has made public.

I can account for only limited reasons why this data would be lost. Here are a couple, by way of example...

In a .jpg file there is image data in a standard format known as EXIF (Note: this standard is derived from the one used in .tiff files, and is similar in concept to most image formats.). Some image editors do not handle this data properly, and when an image is manipulated and the modified image is saved then the EXIF data can be corrupted and/or lost.

There are (many) utilities as well as image editors which allow the modification of EXIF data. These can be used to change or to remove it entirely if desired.

I find it unbelievable that they'd try to use photos from a playground fall, that her school knew about and had documented, to try to establish abuse. I think it's disgraceful they've gone on tv with these allegations and glad Nancy & Art Harris exposed them.

I finally got to see the pics. This lawyer is suppose to be an expert on family law?!?!?! Not even close. I hope a judge nails her and Crystal to the wall. These are ridiculous allegations.

IMO Crystal is trying everything to get the focus off of Haleigh's missing status, and it just makes me want to dig further into it. She must have some reason for all this. I just haven't found it.....YET.

I totally agree.

  • #266
I agree these pics don't prove abuse at all. They will need sworn testimony of first hand accounts & medical records from Haleigh's reg. physician to make any kind of case at all. But, I still think CS is well within her rights and certainly her duty as Haleigh & Jr.'s mother to ask for an investigation.

IIRC, last night on NG, they admitted that they had reported the injuries when they occurred, but I assume the Department quickly figured out they were from a playground accident and closed the case....with the school being able to say the injuries occurred in their playground, I really don't get what their motive is for trying again with this.

Dang bunny, you're going to town on this thread. :)

Those photos don't prove that the children were abused but it does not exclude abuse either. I don't like those fingerprint patterns and those bruises that look like stick marks, and I didn't like it when RC was so quick to tell us that he only abuses his children in DCF approved ways. (I'm showing my bias here, I don't hold with any kind of physical spanking as a punishment. A big tough guy like RC or any adult for that matter should be able to handle a couple of 3-5 year olds without resorting to violence, bruising or not. In my experience spanking does not solve children's behaviour problems, it causes them.) But then again if CG has got some domestic abuse issues in his past I'm not happy with Crystal's situation either.

Please find Haleigh.

I've never ever heard RC say he abused his children and I highly doubt DCF has "approved ways" of abuse.

I agree about the "Please find Haleigh" though!

Yes, and that attorney on NG last night squinting her eyes like she was trying hard to hear Nancy, as if she wasn't picking up on Nancy's scrutiny... :liar:

I heard an awful lot of traffic where they were sitting. It probably was hard to hear.

Ok. Thankfully DCF & the Court did not agree with you though! I was spanked as a small child, and certainly don't feel I was an abuse victim, quite the opposite. My parents were wonderful and brought me up very well and I feel I was very privileged and I'm sure many other people who had parents spank them don't feel their parents were abusive towards them.

Spanking starts where adulthood ends. There's no excuse for hurting a small child in your care.

I have no idea what you mean by that.

I don't believe RC ever hurt his children...it seems to me he loved and supported them. How could you possibly blame him for her fall at school? And if CS is trying to make that out as a case of RC abusing his kids, then I really have to wonder what else she might be lying about, and why.

The mark on the side of her head is her birthmark.

Look at the elbow area of Haleigh's right arm. What could that be? Not poison oak or poison ivey because poison ivey spreads. I do also note her little fingers look as if something has happened.

I'm not seeing anything wrong with her little face, either. I think that the elbow is rashy, and from my own personal experience, I'd say it was eczema. The fingers don't look hurt to me, just covered with her little snack.

I am not saying RC hit his kid(s) but I did find it very odd at the time he responded to questions that he only spanks his kids the way DCF says is acceptable. As a parent, I never had to check what was legal and what wasn't. I just thought it was really odd that he would bring DCF into the discussion. He thought he was helping himself, but I think it actually hurt.

If RC knew what DCF's guidelines are, there must be a reason.

I would think the reason he knows what the guidelines are is that his "ex" reported him to authorities for abuse. When DCF investigated her claims, the decision was made that Ron's methods of discipline were NOT abuse, that the method he used was within acceptable behavior.

Being investigated for a horrible allegation like child abuse and being cleared by DCF would make me say "it was within guidelines!" too. It's just a way to say "it was NOT ABUSE."

I don't know anything about Kim Picazio. If she has a good reputation, I can't imagine why she would plunge headfirst like this unless she really believes she has a case. She will be ruined if this turns out to false. Would she chance ruining her career for this? I just don't know...

ETA: Maybe the witnesses who have come forward ( Ron's ex, etc.) are compelling.

I don't know anything about her abilities as a lawyer either. But she is the first guest I've ever seen on Nancy Grace who came close to out- expressioning Nancy's expressions. Those faces she made! They were every bit as overdone and exaggerated as Nancy's!

She brought this allegation to a public forum because she thought it would be positive publicity for Crystal and negative for Ron. And Crystal wants custody of Jr., so the worse Ron can be made to look, the more caring and concerned Crystal can be made to look, the better the chances of gaining custody. (I think they have about a snowball's chance in hell, but that's just MO.)

I've never ever heard RC say he abused his children and I highly doubt DCF has "approved ways" of abuse.

I agree about the "Please find Haleigh" though!

DCF does not have approved methods of abuse. You are right to highly doubt that statement! They have approved methods of discipline, and spanking is one of them.

He said he spanks his kids the DCF approved way, and any kind of spanking equals abuse to me.

That's a personal opinion. It doesn't mean that DCF approves of methods of abuse, however. It means their opinion of what constitutes abuse differs from yours.

Yowzer....any kind of spanking equals abuse to you? You must have little angel babies. :innocent:

I have 4 children 10,12,16,18. They all still live here at home with me and their dad. My 10 year old was diagnosed with ADHD when she was 4 and ODD when she was 7 and just recently Bipolar with associated mood disorders. She has been under the watchful eye of a very special doctor since age 4 and over the years her dad and I have often disagreed with how to properly punish her when things get haywire. She once stole a 50.00 bill from my wallet to buy ice cream from the ice cream man for herself and the rest of the neighborhood. To this day she still refuses to tell the truth about the ice cream money despite the ice cream man himself repeating to her that she did it. On another occasion she punched her big brother in the mouth and knocked out his front tooth because he didn't want to watch the same program she was watching. Now, my daughter would pull her britches down and lay across her daddy's lap and wait for the spanking just to get it over with and one day her daddy cried because he didn't want to spank her anymore! These days we don't spank my 10 year old because it is just not the proper course of action in HER CASE.However,

my 16 year old son likes to push the limits, he is a very loving but headstrong young man. I got a call from school one afternoon because he really said something out out of line to one of his teachers. I believe in corporal punishment and let me tell you, he got paddled that day in school and it changed my son in a million ways. In his situation the paddling worked and to this day my son has NEVER had to get paddled again. Not to mention it helped to mold him into a respectable young man that is now in JROTC and wants to join the military to serve his country.

Sorry for explaining those two scenario's so in depth but I am trying to express that spanking DOES work for lot's of children. My daughter....not so much, even though she does things to trully warrant a spanking, because of her disablity she doesn't benefit from a spanking and other sources of consequences work nicely. My son though, well he benefited and I think the spanking of children should be left up to the parent. Every household and home is different and sometimes corporal punishment works. And because we use corporal punishment DOES NOT mean we abuse our children...On the contrary, we are raising children to be proud of. All 4 of my children are remarked as being loving well rounded children even my little one with mental disability.

We must agree to disagree. Physical punishment is illegal where I'm from and it's also unnecessary. I don't have angel children and I'm no angel myself, but in my experience violent solutions make things worse, not better. I have sometimes lost my temper to the point that I've been tempted to slap my kids and it's a mistake I don't ever want to do again. No mother should ever see that fear in her children's eyes.

We do not allow people to beat up adults; it's called battery and assault. Why should we allow people to beat up innocent little children?

my home also does not believe in physical punishments.

I have seen some parents that would walk up to the child and say NO! it's not nice to hit and then turn around and spank the child( which IS hitting) . the child learns nothing except that it is ok for a ADULT to hit them but its not ok for them to hit. I guess it works in some homes but not mine.... anyways JMO

I disagree...when I look at the pics (especially #1 and #6) it appears as though these pics were random snapshots and were not taken to document abuse.

It looks like they went through pics and cropped any of them that appear to have a bruise. In # 6 JR is getting a piggy back ride from someone, it's not a pic meant to document abuse IMO

Also, I have had a really hard time following this case, could someone please answer a question I saw posted several weeks ago? Did Crystals mom ever report her to CPS?
