"She said 'that Gerard told the girls shortly after 6am that mummy had gone for a walk and probably fell down a hole (and) would not be back'."

Yes it was the same morning he called Allison's parents although I don't recall the actual time of call being mentioned.

Speaking exclusively to The Courier-Mail yesterday, Mr Dickie and wife Priscilla recalled how life had become a nightmare since receiving the call from their son-in-law Gerard on Friday two weeks ago.
"He (Mr Baden-Clay) just said she went for a walk and she didn't return - that's all he said," Mr Dickie said.
"If she was going for a walk in the morning, she'd have walked on the side of the road around Brookfield. She wouldn't have ventured into the middle of the bush somewhere."

With full respect C&P, I think the comments were fair. As someone who knows nothing of this man except that he is Allisons brother-in-law, I am not commenting at all on the man or what he has done before the murder, or since. Your opinion there is probably very accurate and I respect that, but your question, how would you react? that is the point that has disturbed me sooo much.
As I said, I would be devastated, in a state of disbelief and horror. Murder?? of a middle class mother of 3??? Incomprehensible.
I would also be supportive and thankful of the police, the SES, the volunteers, the grieving public, and doing what I could to help and thank.
I would be vowing to help the family; GBC and the girls as much as I could.
I would realise the long road of grief and rebuilding that was before everyone involved, and I would be concentraing on that rather than slinging abuse towards outsiders. I think most people would be the same.
I do believe that what he wrote was insensitive and poorly chosen. I know it was not written for the greater public, but nonetheless, if you write something on social media you expect it to be read, and he could have been so different with what he said and how he said it. After all, he was experienced at public speaking.
It matters not in the scheme of things. As you say, GBC appears guilty of this crime from what we have heard, and we all wonder for how long his family will unwaiveringly support him.
There is just something very off about the whole piece, especially if this family cared for Allison deeply. I'm afraid his choice of words doesn't sound as if they did.
My opinion only.
I sincerely hope I haven't offended anyone.
IMO just a gormless twit doing what gormless twits do
Jump on the double-barrelled bandwagon and get manipulated

Thank-you Marleywings. That is exactly what I was looking for. Shortly after 6am.
You are a gem.
how cruel! in my opinion, its like he had reached the point of not caring anymore, didnt break it gently. didnt care if they were hurt, lost that politeness and respect for them. probably how allison was treated, with contempt.
why didnt he just leave her! or was her death just seen as ok at this stage after years of beating her down, killing her slowly, she didnt matter anymore.
my opinion only.

I don't think this proves OW was there at 0600. She was repeating to Police what her brother told his daughters. He may have told her - she wasn't necessarily present at the time. :twocents:

Insensitive in the extreme.
That's ALL he said.
No call for help from in-laws, no anxiety, no explanations as to what he GBC had actually done to find her. Or fear that she might have met foul play.
Seems like GBC is mechanically getting through all the "must so" things on his "to do" list for his missing person case.
Just dispense with the niceties and get to the point.
Sounds like another sleep deprived action. IMO.
Given the ages of the BC/Dickie daughters would the eldest be moving on to IGGS in 2013?
Interesting, given GBC's alleged financial difficulties before Allison's murder, there would have been no money available to send the eldest DTR to IGGS. Allegedly it was Allison's ambition that her girls attend IGGS. It would have been a major disappointment for Allison to find out that there was no money to send her DTR to IGGS in 2013. My opinion only.
