When I said defence lawyers tell their lying clients to shut up I was meaning the lawyer says don't say anything to the police or media. This is why GBC did not give a formal statement to police because his lawyers would have told him not to. He slipped up with that media interview with the pretty blonde reporter that caught his eye and he walked over to her. Neither did NBC or EBC give a formal statement to the police though they were asked to by police. This was stated in the first bail application docs. It didn't mention OW so that made me wonder if she might have given a formal statement.

Legally brunette is right about the ethics of defence lawyers and the limitations in defending. In a previous post, i linked the qld law society guidelines that sets out the lawyers responsibilities.
So they don't mind their client telling them they are innocent, but they don't want them to tell them they are guilty if the client doesn't want to plead not guilty. Given the 'suicide theory" raised at the bail hearing by the defence, in accordance with the ethical guidelines, this suggests to me that GBC has not confessed any guilt to his lawyers.

Been there, done that. The infamous PFO Parade every Fri and Sat after 10pm.

And for those not in the "trade" - PFO = Pissed and Fell Over.

Sorry - off topic, but nostalgic! ;)

And for those who may have missed my line about the movie "Primal Fear" - find a copy in the local rental store and watch it - one of the all time greats! And a fabulous acting performance by Edward Norton, before he became much more famous. That's not really off topic - the movie has echoes of some of the cases that are discussed here on WS.

Edward Norton put in a stunning performance in this movie. It was a chilling and alarming movie well worth a view. Thinking it scared me more than Cape Fear with DeNiro who can portray evil incarnate.

wonder if GBC can be as successful in playing his lawyers?

... GBC was not someone who hid is feelings very well when it came to his mistresses. He needed to show them how superior he was and his rippling masculine prowess. So GBC would be wanting to parade the relationships around in public...

I seem to remember that GBC managed to hide two affairs from his mistress and it took the boys-in-blue to drop that one into TM's lap. He managed to keep that secret. I'd have thought a mistress would keep a finger on the pulse with regard to where GBC was at any given time.

Apologies can't find link Marly. I remember mention of detectives taking a trip to Townsville to interview OW so let's hope there is a statement on record Alioop..

Happy that you think that RLTP - but I beg to differ - I believe GBC was not someone who hid is feelings very well when it came to his mistresses. He needed to show them how superior he was and his rippling masculine prowess. So GBC would be wanting to parade the relationships around in public. The fact that his parents are happy to pass info covertly to TM says to me that they have known and accepted her as part of the family for quite a long time. The only person they are hurting and not respecting by doing this is the person GBC married, Allison. Can you see any benefit in the BC's supporting TM n the given situation as opposed to them supporting Allison?

I assume in your question that the support you are referring to is the covert contact between GBC and TM? I think this could perhaps also be construed as them supporting GBC as opposed to supporting TM.
At this stage we do not know the date that this supporting of covert contact happened, but given the context of the report, I think it would seem reasonable to assume that it happened sometime between when ABC was reported missing and the arrest of GBC.
There was a post in an early thread where the poster said that they had overheard GBC talking to 'a local politician' at the Brookfield show the night before MSM published details of the affair, saying how humiliated he was to have had to tell his parents about it before it was published (or something along those lines - I am going from memory).
I don't know the poster who made that post, but I do know the person they referred to as 'a local politician' very well - and was told the same thing by that person. Hence my reason for thinking that GBC's family was unaware of the affair prior to the Brookfield Show.
My point is not to change opinion of the BC family - simply to allow more accurate sleuthing. :)
All IMO

Children say the darndest thing but parents can DO the darndest !

My sister is a divorced self made millionaire. Her bookkeeper, a 'Lady' family friend openly 'encouraged' a relationship between the 'Lady's' married son and my, at that time vulnerable sister. I have no doubt in my mind whatsover that this was to get a 'piece' of my sister's wealth ! ! !

From the time Allison was reported missing and the time GBC was arrested I'm sure much as spoken about and prearranged. They had alot of time, business as usual. *%&**#s!
I can't find the MSM report that TM went away with the BC's, either for their 'holiday away from the evil media', oh when everyone and their dog was searching for poor Allison. THEY WENT AWAY?, oh paleease !

I'll lay my wages on that one!

Thanx Doc, Primal Fear is a brilliant movie and I remember it whenever I'm reading Webslueths. What a performance! I think of that movie whenever i see husbands/ boyfriends who stand in front of the cameras pleading for the safe return of their wives only "to be found guilty of the same murder, how many times we se this??

Oh but how wrong was my hunch with our Jill Meagher(I'm sorry Tom)

I have a saying...."You don't know you're being conned by a good con"

Thank you for clarifying your point about Defense lawyers Alioop and how this was possibly put into practice by the B-C lawyers. Thanks to Legally Brunette's post as well. Now we have a better understanding of what it means and how it works in practice. My opinion only.

While looking for the above video I came across one from the day Allison's body was found. I don't recall any mention of this since then...interesting!!

@.51 forensics officers took DNA swabs from snapped shrubs near where a canoeist discovered Allison's body

http://article.wn.com/view/2012/04/30/Hope_turns_to_heartbreak_for_Allison_BadenClays_family_after/

Big thank you Marley, can I ask if you recall a report that TM attended this 'in law escape' I'm sure it was written somewhere, if so surely the BC's knew of this 'close friendship'.

ALSO
• Police are hopeful of finding her mobile phone after narrowing the location of the key missing item to an area spanning 150m.

Can the police be keeping the phone a trump card?

ALSO

• Police believe the killer could have taken Mrs Baden-Clay's body to the area as early as 8pm on Thursday April 19.

Could Allison have been given the evening off after the hairdresser not knowing what plans were already in place? Remember he did not want her at the seminar!! Wow & the OW baby sitter was down on standby.

I FEEL SICKENED BY THIS POSSIBILITY :worms::gasp:

Hi all

I am a brand new member of the Webslueths community, although I have been quietly reading the posts for a while now and have found them to be incredibly informative. I have really appreciated being able to read them. I hope somewhere along the line I can add some value to the sleuthing!

Where was Allison on the day of the cross country & was it the day before her disappearance? The baby sitter OW was there? Where was Allison??

ALSO I'm constantly wondering if GBC frequented pubs or clubs & was he a heavy drinker? It's making sense that he could have had a problem, ha but I know he's DRY NOW!!

Welcome Zanz - we always need a fresh pair of eyes. Ours get a bit cloudy from time to time!

This case has fascinated me since ABC first went missing and after seeing the new timelines being posted I decided it was time I sifted through what information I could to get the facts straight in my own head. Of course as I go on more questions keep being raised than answered in my mind!

My first question for those who are better informed....... It relates to the scratches on GBC's face.

In the following article, Robert Hoskins, the QPS Snr Forensic Medical Health Officer said

"Each of the main injuries has features making it implausible that it was caused by shaving. The main injuries were not caused at the same time as the more trivial injuries. Those more trivial injuries are fairly characteristic of razor cuts."

I was wondering if anyone knew what the "more trivial injuries" were and how they came about? I'm thinking it might be as simple as he tried to cover up the main injuries with a second set of injuries that he purposely gave himself with a razor. I could also be completely off track here.

Any and all answers greatly appreciated.

tks :-)

Thank you to Marlywings for fixing the link to the post by 'Thinking' re conversation which was overheard ........ regarding GBC's affairs about to be made public.
Not so sure that the stress GBC was suffering was entirely because of his alleged revealing the affair to his Parents ....... (especially since TM wasn't the only one) .... it would contribute more ammunition to the 'Court of Public Opinion'....Oh! and what if the other affairs are revealed too! JMO
