This morning the police said they never got calls from neighbors about that house, but they are still searching.

Yes, as far as police are concerned, they claim they have a record of going to the house in 2004 when the suspect left the child on the bus.
But they don't admit to anything else so far.

That's a great find about Arlene's interview with AMW. But I don't think she is Ariel's daughter. I think he had one daughter by a different name and two sons?

"COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ariel Castro's son, Anthony Castro, a 31-year-old banker living in Columbus, declined to comment on the circumstances leading to his father's arrest much beyond describing what he called his "tremendous level of shock.""

http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2013/05/castros_son_i_just_feel_unspea.html

I can't imagine what he is going through right now. I can imagine him going over past conversations with his father and his uncles in his mind, trying to see if he missed something, heard something or if there were any hints.

WHOA. The last person to talk to Gina before she was abducted was Castro's daughter Arlene. Arlene's interview with America's Most Wanted is here:

HOW did the police miss this?!?!

This really makes me wonder if more than the 3 brothers were involved in this? How could his kids not know there are 3 tied up girls in the house? She talked about her Mom in the interview.. is Ariel married? Divorced? Did the kids only live with mom?

CNN said last night that Ariel and his wife separated "a few years ago." I wondered how long ago that was. Neighbors have said the daughter is in and out of the house and brings the grandchildren (though I have also wondered if the "daughter and grandchildren" were actually one of the missing girls and the child)

Woah, why are we linking the son's FB? He is going to have enough to deal with without us leading more to his door (figurative). There is no reason to suspect he is involved, right?
No reason to suspect anything right now.
But his name has been in msm and he wrote an article about Gina going missing.

Unfortunately the police in this town leave a lot to be desired.

When I read about that, my IMAGINATION ran wild and I CONJECTURED that PERHAPS (see how careful I"m being here?) PERHAPS a parent called police and the school freaking out because their kid never got off the bus and PERHAPS because of how fast that happened, PERHAPS Ariel didn't get a chance to take this kid from the bus to his house to join the other girls, but PERHAPS it was *that* close. "Oh I forgot the child because they were asleep in the seat and I didn't' know they were there" or whatever the excuse was, may have been an excuse and not fact. Just a thought.

Plaind Delar does say Arlene is Ariel's daughter. Wow. Gets fisher and fisher, does it not?

"CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The daughter of kidnapping suspect Ariel Castro told America's Most Wanted in 2004 that she was the last person to see Gina DeJesus alive."

http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2013/05/suspects_daughter_said_in_2004.html

So awful! Ariel references a Rosie Arlene, which might be why a different name has been seen. No wonder no one saw anything strange... because it was her "best friend" and they either decided to go to her house (Arlene) or the dad (Ariel) picked them up after her phone call (if she ever made one). Who can you trust for your children???? Seems suspect that the little girl/ best friend didn't know, completely my opinion!

Sorry for the long post but I feel this is a sensitive issue in this case. As so many people are feeling the 911 operator should be disciplined for hanging up on Amanda and not staying on the line. I tried to find information in regards to 911 protocols. It is JMO but I believe this 911 operator handled Amanda's call within the required protocol. The operator was aware she was safe at the neighbours house as Amanda reported she was free. He confirmed the address she was calling from even though she gave the address she had been held in over the past 10 years. He told her he had a different address and then Amanda explained she was across the street at the neighbours house. He notified her police were on their way. He had previously spoke with CR who also gave details. Could it also be possible this dispatcher had many calls coming in all at once from other neighbours regarding Amanda's escape? I don't feel the operator was rude as he called her Dear. With all the hysteria of the call, I feel he handled Amanda's call appropriately. JMO. Some of these links are from other states but I believe 911 protocols are generally the same from state to state. So thankful everything turned out well and these women and little girl were rescued.

CALLING 9-1-1
WHEN SHOULD I CALL 9-1-1?
YOU SHOULD CALL 9-1-1 . . .

When you have a Police, Fire or Medical emergency.
There is a situation that could, or does, pose a danger to life, property or both.
There is a suspicious activity involving a person(s) or vehicle that appears to have criminal intent.
Any situation that requires immediate dispatch of an officer.
Remain calm and patient while the 9-1-1 calltaker asks you questions. 9-1-1 calltakers are trained to ask specific questions that quickly determine what is wrong, and what type of assistance to send.

Please stay on the line until the calltaker tells you to hang up.

http://www.seattle.gov/police/contact/911.htm

Stay on the Line:
When a Medicine Hat 911 call-taker answers, they will ask you if you need Fire, Police, or Ambulance. The Call-taker will also confirm which town or city you are calling for. Once you indicate which service you need, your call will be immediately shunted.

Stay on the line and follow instructions. Your 911 call-taker will stay on the line with you to make sure your call is answered by the agency you need.

Please understand that while call-takers are asking you questions, they are also alerting and dispatching the appropriate emergency personnel to help you at the same time.

Prioritizing Calls
If there are more calls coming in than available dispatchers, the operators have to prioritize which ones to deal with first while encouraging all callers to stay on the line if they have an emergency. That's not an easy task. A car accident might sound traumatic by the caller's voice but not result in any injuries. A domestic problem that is called in as a verbal dispute with no physical altercation can turn fatal before authorities arrive. Dispatchers usually can contact the appropriate authority in a matter of seconds and quickly move on to the next call.

When I call 911, why do I get asked to hold on?
The same dispatchers who answer the 911 calls also answer the non-emergency calls for service for all law enforcement agencies in Ada County. When the dispatch center is busy, the dispatchers have to ask non-emergency callers to hold on while they answer the 911 calls. Every effort is made to get back to you as quickly as possible, and your patience and understanding is appreciated.

In the comments to Plain Dealer article, Plain Dealer seems very confident that they verified Arlene being Ariel's daughter. So that was Ariel's daughter interviewed by AMW about her friend Gina.
Wow.

This breaks my heart, can't imagine how that affected her since she believed so much before that her child was alive and coming home..Shame on Sylvia, she was guessing.

Sylvia told Shawn Hornbecks parents the same.
Psychics are frauds.

I can't wrap my mind around any of this!!! So this 🤬🤬🤬 had a daughter, sons and wife and he kidnaps these girls, where did he take them at the time if he had kids and a wife????

It is the way I normally operate, I am sending police while I am talking to you and relaying any additional information I get to the officers as you would be telling me. Just because I am on the phone with a person, doesn't mean that I am not getting you the fastest help possible!! I know it is easy to second guess her actions, but I have had enough dealings with their dispatchers to know how they "operate", unfortunately! Dispatching is an art form sometimes combining the art of carrying on multiple conversations at once through phone, radios, etc I often wish for another pair of hands to help me use all my required equipment!!

I've seen dispatchers at work, AMAZING is an understatement. There is good and bad in every profession, I'm not saying that this dispatcher did anything wrong by any means because we don't have all the information. To have the ability to take a call, determine the priority, dispatch the proper number of officers all while trying to remain calm, keep the caller calm, obtain additional information, etc. You all do a wonderful job. I would hate for this dispatcher to be second guessing herself right now. IMO, she was trying to clarify the location and obtain information to determine who/what needed to be sent.
Underappreciated profession for certain. Thank you for what you do!

This is such a miracle! I hope that it will help in some way to get funding for agencies for cold cases. I think that this is going to help enormously in the search for missing women and I couldn't be happier! The neighbor who got her out is a true hero!

ITA.
I don't think this dispatcher did anything wrong. She dispatched the police, which is what her job was. The only reason I think people have for bashing her is displaced anger they feel toward the suspect. Dispatcher is not the one accused of crime here. Let's remember that.
