I cannot imagine being tied up for 9 or more years, only being released when the captors were present. That will cause them physical problems along with the other problems they will have.

That's what I've been thinking - that Amanda, Gina, and Michelle may have been held somewhere else initially, then brought to this house at some other point in time.

They might have been moved around. Otherwise I faill to see how it could have been pulled off? When did the suspect become separated from his wife?
If Arlene (suspect's daughter) is the same age as Gina, then she had to have been living at home unless the suspect and his wife were already separated 10 years ago.

It's been reported by multiple sources that this child is Amanda's daughter. Also grandaughter doesn't look at all like the girl with Amanda.

What's crazy though is there is a clear strain of criminality within this family. The woman in prison for attempting to murder her baby is the sister of the three arrested, right?

Why should the operator have keep her on the phone longer? She knew who she was. She knew where she was. She knew what phone number she was calling from. She knew the suspects name. She tried to find out what the suspect was wearing, but the girl seemed unable to give more information. The call was over, so she ended it.

She then looked up the case number, and relayed that to the supervisors. So they would know what was going on. The operator sounded thorough and professional to me.

Many operators will keep a very frightened person on the phone if there is the risk that an intruder may get them, for example, or if someone is hiding from a bad guy, until help can arrive. I've heard those calls. I don't think the dispatcher was rude or cruel or unprofessional but I do think she should have asked more questions and stayed on the phone with the young lady until help arrived.

It was a judgment call. I don't think the dispatcher realized the seriousness of what had occurred or the risk Amanda faced at the moment of the call. The kidnapper could have come back at any moment. I think it was a bad judgment call but not a negligent or unprofessional one.

Amanda was very sharp in 911 call. Very aware of what was going on. Also does not have a Stockholm syndrome. If she had Stockholm syndrome, she would be trying to protect the suspect and identify with the suspect. But she seemed terrified of him.

I can't stop thinking about Ashley Summers and wondering if she was ever held by one of the Castro brothers. I wonder if they moved the girls from house to house throughout the years. If they did, will they find evidence that other missing girls were trafficked by them, or clues that Ashley was ever with them? Too much to think about.

I thought the house would be rather small, from the look of it last night, but they just showed how deep it goes back on the lot.

I want to know, who helped deliver that baby and clean up the mess. Or the babies, if in fact some were buried. I haven't yet, to see actual confirmation on that.
I did read also there were chains in the basement, but no confirmation on that either.

Meg Kelly reporting:

2 females held in basement (470 sq ft)
1 female held in upstairs? room

3 mugshots just shown on Fox

On the live blog from wkyc.com; the close-ups of the home show some of the windows boarded up on the one side. All the other windows look like they have shades and dark plastic bags on them. It appears you cannot see in any of the windows.
This style of home has very tiny basement windows (probably blocked off too). The two adjacent homes are boarded up and vacant.
These poor women probably did not see the light of day!!
SICK!!

Can any of you imagine living in a house where you just never went down to the basement or up to the attic? I have been in every square inch of every house I lived in. I haven't been in the crawl space of the current house, admittedly, but rooms within the house? I just can't imagine not knowing there were three women concealed in my house and not ever knowing a thing. I wonder if the wife/daughter/son ever lived in that particular house.

unfortunately, we can't trust anyone these days. I am guilty of sitting in my back yard coming up with evil things my neighbors may be doing...lol guess it's just a way to say what if and be observant of things going on...which I developed after being here on WS!

I'm guilty of being anti social! Of my front, side and catercorner neighbors, which would be 5 total, I've only been inside one of their homes. And that was only because it was an extenuating circumstance of needing to use their phone! I'm suspicious of one of the catercorner neighbors because they have really nice cars which seldom leave the house. It's just odd.

Now it is just a matter of figuring out how to convince our neighbors to let us take a tour of their 'lovely home'...

No, I can not imagine. Which is why I think that maybe the victims had been moved around.

To me as well. I really think people expect operator to start jumping up and down while screaming that Amanda has been found. If she did that, she would be totally wrong. Operators shouldn't be getting excited. That is not their job.
If the operator got emotional then the operator can not do their job properly. Operator has to stay calm and collected, which is what this woman did.

Just listened to the 911 call again with captioning- the dispatcher was not dismissive as claimed by some- she got all the information including clarifying the address- She told Amanda to stay where she was with the neighbors that police were coming.

I absolutely agree with the post up thread and said much the same thing last night- the outrage about the dispatcher is just frustrated misplaced anger.

The only thing that bothered me about the 911 call was when the person said something like 'we'll send one when a car becomes available'. Like, the operator had no sense of urgency coming from the call. It is like being a Doctor I guess, there is a certain level of compassion and understanding of the caller that needs to take place along with the fact finding. Also, the operator never seemed to ask the questions I would think needed to be asked regarding her safety until they get there.

I can think of two possible reasons for that. 1. maybe she just misspoke, and actually meant they would respond right away, or 2. the girl reported that she had escaped, and that she was free. That is not a crime in progress. Which would make it a lower priority. If another call came in at that same time of a robbery in progress, they would have had to respond to that first. They respond to how urgent help is needed, not how big the case is.

Regardless, I'm pretty sure the operator expedited help when the girl said that she was afraid he would return.

But yeah, I would agree that that was the weak point in the call though.

One thing's for certain: this miraculous story has forever changed how I view the missing persons' cases I follow. This gives hope to the families of other missing loved ones. Although the outcome of this case is definitely the exception, clearly miracles DO happen.

I'm so happy for Amanda, Gina, and Michelle, and happy for their families.

I've seen that as a naked woman crawling in the backyard too.

Three brothers look enough alike that neighbors not paying close attention could have beleived this was the same person (assuming three brothers were going in and out of the house). Maybe that's where report comes from that the suspect was changing clothes all the time.
Somehow I don't think suspect was changing clothes a lot.

I am the same way. I only know the neighbors on either side of me.
