I have no in depth knowledge of this case but find it hard to believe that every court in Italy is entirely biased and out to get these two.

What is some of the most compelling evidence AGAINST them?

So he fielded interviews and enlisted family and friends to speak on Amanda's behalf? That is it? That is the huge PR machine?

He has been retained by Knox since 2007, so I suspect that he has done more than "field" interviews. According to Curt Knox, hiring the PR Firm was the smartest thing they did.

"All the media accounts and leaks of inaccurate information occurred within the framework of a markedly different legal system than that in the United States. At the same time, we were helping the family get the truth out about their daughter ..."

He's on the no-fly list. With or without his passport, he is not going anywhere.

Not by plane, no. But technically, if he wanted to flee and could escape scrutiny long enough to do so, he could leave Italy by boat, train, or by car and move freely through all European Union even without his passport.
In theory, of course, since I don't know how close an eye the authorities will keep on him after this verdict. But I doubt it's entirely impossible for him to flee, the European borders are too open for that.

I just can't believe the U.S. would ever participate in any attempts at extradition. If I were Knox at this point, I'd keep my head down, try to get on with my life, and forget about international travel! And let this serve as a cautionary tale to all those college kids studying abroad. Behavior has consequences and the U.S. isn't gonna necessarily bail you out no matter how egregious the facade of "justice" is in another country. Lucky for her, she has the court of public opinion on her side in her own country. This is a tragedy for the Kerchers, and I doubt they will ever feel that Meredith's death has been vindicated. I think deep down they know Knox and Sollecito did not kill their sister/daughter, but they too have been swept up into the machine of Italian politics and face saving.

I'm kind of thinking that also - that Knox and Sollecito were not surprised. So it is interesting to me that Sollecito showed up and did not run off to the Dominican Republic, or where ever he was. Did he know that he would not be incarcerated today and would only have to turn over his travel documents?

Salem

Yes he probably knew he wouldn't be jailed immediately. It's pretty known that Italy is pro defendant and they aren't usually jailed until their conviction is confirmed. Though he knew the prosecutor was asking for travel restrictions in the event of a conviction.

He knew that there would be restrictions, as the prosecutor made that request during the last hearing. He really had no where to go, so it was better that he stay in Italy.

Yes and they told many untruths in those interviews, like the 54 hour interrogation claim with no food or drink iirc.

For evidence against them, I found that the true justice for meredith kercher site to be extremely in depth and convincing, as well as the murder of meredith kercher site.

Some of the highlights I'd say

The knife with MK and AKs DNA on it, this has been disputed, but it seems pretty legit to me.

The bra clasp with RSs DNA

MKs blood in the bathroom, some which was mixed with AKs DNA

The obviously staged break in (nothing stolen, clothes thrown about with glass on top, if a break in did occur RG chose the hardest way possible to break in)

conflicting and changing alibis for both AK and RS

bloody footprint on a bathmat in the bathroom, footprint too small for RG but just right for RS

luminal showing cleaned up and likely bloody footprints in the hall that would be a match in size for AK

AK seen by a shopkeeper that morning going to the cleaning aisle. Plus the clothes he said she was wearing just so happened to match the clothes laying on AKs bed

the phone calls... just read up on that cluster

AK and RS snuggling and laughing at the police station right after finding out her roommate was murdered... not to mention the splits and cartwheels

Seriously i could go on and on... There is a ton more.

I have experience in PR so I believe I am intellectual enough to discern whether or not I am buying into "lines"....Also, I do not find Amanda Knox to be likable as a person, I feel her entire interview with Diane Sawyer in May was in poor taste and came across as self involved....HOWEVER, innocence or guilt is BAsED ON EViDENCE or LACK OF EVIDENCE and based on that I feel that not only were Knox and Sollecito wrongfully convicted and imprisoned, they are being persecuted repeatedly by a corrupt judicial system! I pray that Knox is not extradited and I pray that Sollecito flees before turning in his passport
lol
Passionate about justice, yet praying Sollecito will break the law. and the US will ignore the extradition treaties?

Isn't the US bailing out Amanda if they refuse to honor the extradition treaty with Italy? From what I've read around the net, AK does not have a majority of public opinion on her side. IMO, that will be more obvious now that the guilty verdict is upheld.

The bra clasp that was found 6 weeks after the crime and reported by a neighbor? Come on.

"They also testified that they found Sollecito's DNA on Kercher's bra clasp. Sollecito and Knox's defenders dispute the quality of this evidence, suggesting it resulted either from the sort of contamination bound to happen when people share close quarters or from police misconduct, since the clasp was discovered weeks after the discovery of the body and the initial investigation."

This is a stinking case. Not one with merit and justice. Not one clean of contamination.

Sadly, it does seem as if Sollecito and Knox will attempt to drag this out as long as possible.

It would seem strange to me that the U.S. would intercede in this when the Doctor that got us Bin Ladin is still in jail. JMO

To be expected of course, and understandably so, perhaps.

YOu mean use all their legal options?

Wouldn't be the first time the US (as other countries also do) declines extradition. I am not sure how that will play out though --- I wouldn't burn a "non-extradition" card on this one.
