I agree.

But the system not working in 2018 would be unheard of. Law suit worthy maybe.

Was it law suit worthy in 1998?

It should have been.

Could she have been lured away with the promise of (cheap) cigarettes?

Yes, and she apparently told her brother she was going onto the island for cigs. I really think she just walked off that ship with a crew member. Access to cheap cigs would have been a perfect way to get her to go with them. A crew member could have also had access to a separate exit.

Remember, this is 1998, pre-9/11, on Curaçao!
I don’t think security or customs was that tight, especially if someone knew someone.
In 1998, I could easily enter the US from Canada without a passport.

A little bit about the cameras on the ship that night. None of the video monitors were linked to videotape THAT NIGHT. How convenient.

>>snip

Royal Caribbean says none of its 40 video monitors that night were linked to videotape and none of the guards recalls seeing Amy. There are electronic records of Amy using her key card to enter the room at 3:40 a.m. Tuesday but, her brother Brad says, "because the [ship's] lock-link [system] does not record when a passenger exits the room, there is no record of what time Amy left the room."

I had forgotten about the no videotapes that night, how convenient indeed. I wonder what RCs “explanation” was.

I think you could be right, I read on one of the travel forums that someone entered Curacao pre 911 with a library card. That’s also how it was going across to Mexico from Texas back in the day.

It was just a dream I had last night.

It is difficult to find any info on this.
I have been looking but not much was reported on the video not working, or it is no longer available
Does anyone know if this came up during the lawsuit?

In what was posted from Hiandmighty, no.

I think I’m starting to change my mind about what happened to her. I still don’t think she was trafficked though.

What are your top 3 theories?

What are your top 3 theories?

1. Fell off balcony. Occam’s razor. Last truly verified sighting from someone who knew her.

2. Saw something she should not have seen on board during docking and was murdered and thrown overboard. Pet theory of mine.

3. (New) Left ship with someone with promise of cheap cigarettes thinking she’d be back before it was time to do stuff with her family. Met with foul play either by person she left ship with or on island. Therefore I do not believe she was actually “missing” until mid morning. Per my dream. (I know it sounds crazy).

I could go with any of those really.

The only thing about the cheap cigarettes that bothers me is the following:

1) she had $100 in her pocket, so she didn’t necessarily need cheap cigs

2) the port photos from Curacao back then show basically a white tent with seemingly no shops and there didn’t seem to be anything nearby. I believe this photo I remember was on Amybradley.net

But who knows. There is no evidence of anything. FBI is back focusing on the ship. For all we know she walked off in curacao to be free from her family.

My kids are nearing their young twenties. Frankly, MOO, any parent who professes to know what their young adult is thinking or doing is thinking wishful thoughts. Her family truly objectively can’t say they know everything about her mindset, thoughts, actions and feelings during this cruise. MOO

Suicide, leaving to live on the islands, leaving willingly without telling her family... these are all theories that have never been explored as well as others. Something to think about MOO

I don’t believe Amy willingly left the ship. She was planning an early morning breakfast with her family in Curacao. The FBI said they found no reason for Amy to have committed suicide or leave her family. From all indications Amy was planning on returning home. Amy was the victim of foul play, IMO.

>>snip

On ‘America’s Most Wanted’, the F.B.I. stated they found no reason for Amy to leave her family or cause harm to herself. Amy took 15 rolls of film with her to make a collage for her coffee table. While in Aruba, she bought presents for her friends back home and also sent postcards from Puerto Rico to her friends – On one postcard, she wrote, “Hey Girl, it’s gorgeous here. We leave for Aruba tomorrow! Take care, tell Madison and Niles hello. I’ll be home Sat. at 10:00. See ya, Amy.” On another, she wrote, “Hey, it’s beautiful here. Old San Juan has got some amazing buildings. I am taking pictures. Maybe you can see them at Easter? Wish you were here. Amy.

On the day before we left for vacation, Amy had adopted a female bulldog, and she was to pick up ‘Daisy’ when we returned from our cruise. She had just moved into her new apartment and was starting a new job on the following Monday. She had so many plans and was so happy about all of them.

Back in those days, did people sign when they left the ship? I would assume so because the ship would want to make sure all passengers are accounted for

What kind of exit could there be? There has to be a way to get off of the ship from a height. That means some kind of stairs

Two witnesses saw Amy going up to the disco with Yellow on the morning of her disappearance. I think the disco is/was located on deck 11. There is an elevator and stairs on that deck. Amy could have been incapacitated and removed via an elevator, IMO.

I think she either fell overboard or was raped, then murdered and thrown overboard.

This all means nothing to me. Many people act upbeat and happy before they kill themselves. There was a recent high profile Vet who killed himself and everyone is in SHOCK because he was a motivational speaker and mentored other vets with PTSD. He was an upbeat, happy motivational speaker and his website is full of optimistic things.

It happens all the time. MOO

Just google “motivational speaker suicide” and see how many seemingly happy people killed themselves in the last 5 years.

Agree to disagree with regard to Amy.

Also: “No warnings

Suicide almost always raises anguished questions among family members and friends left behind: What did I miss? What could I have done? In my friend’s case, the answers are nothing and nothing.

“Many people never let on what they are feeling or planning. The paradox is that the people who are most intent on committing suicide know that they have to keep their plans to themselves if they are to carry out the act,” says Dr. Miller. “Thus, the people most in need of help may be the toughest to save.”

She didn't commit suicide according to her family or the FBI.
