So if they declared her dead and then sued RC for wrongful death, am I missing something here?
Another thing that has always bothered me is the overly saccharine descriptions of Amy by her family: great job, perfect life, wonderful car, precious puppy etc, Iva felt proud at the attention on Amy, etc., not drunk or on drugs while at the disco etc
It just stayed with me as an over the top presentation of a certain narrative that she was perfect and so was her life. Overcompensation?
She was in transition. College was over and so was her college career as a basketball player, new job, new apartment, new dog, boyfriend headed to marriage... not everyone transitions well.
Hi Everyone,
Look, it is very difficult to discuss personal information about verified insiders or any poster for that matter. The former VI wrote and said she felt she was being disrespected and reminded me of the real reason.
The particular VI, in this case, was put on "inactive" by management because the VI said she was getting threats. This is the official reason and that is all I am going to say about this particular situation. We certainly meant no disrespect to our former VI.
Whenever anyone tells Websleuths they are getting threats because of what they are posting we immediately put them on inactive and tell them to get off the Internet. It is not worth it. We also say they are not allowed to post on Websleuths. Yes, this has actually happened before, several times. Maybe even to another VI.
Anyone who wants to post after getting personal threats is not thinking straight. While I believe Websleuths is extremely important it is not so important that members have to risk their lives to post.
We do not check out the threats. We take the word of the member. Why would someone lie about something like this?
This case since is so old and we have not had any word really on whether this was a sex trafficking case or a case of falling overboard. In my opinion, I take that to mean nothing from the past has really checked out. IN MY OPINION.
So we are basically at square one until LE comes out with something more solid that we can latch onto and start sleuthing.
From now on we will enforce the rule of discussing former members. We cannot discuss former members including former VI's.
If you want to discuss something any former VI has said in the past you can, however, Websleuths reserves the right to remove any information we feel is incorrect or is not verifiable in any way.
Thank you,
Tricia
So if they declared her dead and then sued RV for wrongful death, am I missing something here?
Honestly I think its most likely that Amy was raped by one or more staff members and then thrown overboard from some part of the ship that only staff have access too.
I think that Amy's parents were already concerned about some of the staff member's behaviour towards Amy before she disappeared, hence the immediate panic when they couldn't find her.
True but that is a lot to look forward to and doesnt sound like suicide would even be thought of for someone with all those things happening.
I have a friend whose 16 year old daughter "went missing" from a "secure room" on the boat. It was supposed to be a party/dance place for teenagers with no drinking and highly supervised. They could not leave the room until their parent came for them. When her parents came to pick her up, she was not there. They searched with very little help from the crew for 2 hours until they finally found her passed out in a hallway just outside a door labeled "employees only beyond this point". She did not know what happened to her and couldn't tell anyone what happened. She was not a drinker then and to this day does not drink and she is 26 years old.
Cruise lines scare the he$$ out of me!
Stop talking about the VI. This person is a former member and we do not allow discussions of former members.
Since the VI is a former member we cannot discuss their posts.
Next person to bring up the VI is getting a timeout or lifetime ban.
There is no need to prove anything about any former VI. Please stop!
Every member is allowed to post their opinion as long as it is reasonable. It is not OK to directly attack a member because their belief is different from yours. Please do not ask me to define reasonable. You all should know how things work on Websleuths.
Is Amy dead because of an accident or Murder?
Is Amy Dead?
Did Amy go overboard?
Was Amy taken alive off the ship?
Was Amy killed, hidden away in some container, and then taken off the boat a few days later?
All kinds of scenarios.
If this thread continues to cause problems it will be pulled.
Tricia
Not necessarily. They could have just been unaware that the family had to do that. They would have been aware the parents belief that Amy was alive and that was the point the VI was trying to convey. Either way, it is insignificant. The family strongly believes she was alive when the ship docked.
So if they declared her dead and then sued RC for wrongful death, am I missing something here?
What would be the choices? We can throw out theories... we have never done this.
Of course they do, and its not unreasonable for a family to cling to the hope that their child is alive. Which is what I think they are doing - clinging to the hope that she is alive. I mean idk if Id cling to the hope that my loved one is being trafficked (not sex trafficking - the VI was very adamant that Amy is being trafficked for another mysterious purpose) but Ive thankfully never had to be in that position.
I am assuming you did not see my post.
NO MORE DISCUSSION OF THE VI.
Well that would be speculation of course, but maybe she was propositioned while at the disco? Mule some drugs into town when they hit the port? Day date with someone when they hit the port? Modelling gig when they hit port? The options really are endless and all we would be doing is guessing.
But my guess would be she told her bro during their conversation on the balcony....
Amy- “Such and such guy(maybe Yellow, maybe not) asked me to do this or that when we hit the port”
Bro- “are you crazy? You don’t even know these guys, don’t even think about it!”
Amy - “Ok bro! Thanks for the advice, I love you, good night”
Something along those lines maybe?

Employee and cruisers arent background checked before getting on the ship. That is so frightening what happened to her!!!
My daughter and I are cruising next month and I admit I am more worried than usual about her safety. We are with a group of mothers and daughters.
Shady, shady, shady stuff goes on beyond those crew quarters doors. Let me assure you of that!
