This article says the doctor was flown in from Los Angeles--I also heard that on the news. It sounds to me like he did the operation.
Jolie's delivery complicated by baby's breech position
Angelina Jolie's delivery of her daughter in Namibia on Saturday was via a C-section overseen by her obstetrician, who was flown in from Los Angeles, People magazine reported Tuesday. Those were among the new details of the birth that emerged Tuesday, confirming our belief that, despite widespread technological advancements that have nearly covered the globe, it was still a very slow news day.
Anyway, Jolie's obstetrician, Dr. Jason Rothbart, whose name sounds like he should be part of a "Dilbert" cartoon strip, told People he was flown in to deliver the baby by C-section due to breech presentation, an occurrence in which the baby's feet or back end, rather than head, lines up to emerge first from the birth canal. Sounds pretty traumatic, but Rothbart said everything went well and Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt arrived a healthy, 7-pound girl.
"Brad (Pitt) was with Angelina in the operating room the entire time and cut the umbilical cord of his daughter," Rothbart told People. "The surgery and birth went flawlessly. The staff, nurses and doctors I worked with at the Cottage Medi-Clinic Hospital were amazing. It was a team effort."
