Announcement to Searchers from Law Enforcement

If evidence is found during an illegal search by a local searcher, can it be considered "fruit of the poison tree"? This is my biggest concern - that someone will find something during a search of property without permisson, and all of that evidence will get thrown out on an illegal search clause.

That's a good question! I would think they are also worried about people moving objects from one place to another, possibly compromising a crime scene.

BBM I wonder what the station format is; do they have a news director/department and live broadcasts are done or is it an automated station that is just plugging in pre-recorded info. We don't live in Texas and so I've not heard the station.

Its advertised as a News/Talk/Weather station..and what I've seen from the little that I've read about it is that they seem to play alot of the college football games for state associated teams like Texas A&M.. I don't see anything specific about it having live hosts..live news talk type shows..it{KBST-AM 1490} does seem to be tied into 2 other radio stations more popular FM stations like {K-BST 95.7FM}aka K-BEST95 FM and another station called The Fuse FM 94.3...so all 3 of these stations seemed to be owned by same owner..

I agree wholeheartedly. One confusing thing about the announcement, imo, is that LE has only publicly named one person as a suspect or POI. So, whose friends are we talking about aside from Shawn's?:waitasec:

SA has family who own property for hunting? Have they tried to befriend the family in order to get on the property to search? SA and BD know other people who have property and LE waiting to get search warrant for the property???

Could BD be asking/suggesting to search party members at vigil where they have looked? Is she trying to befriend some of the searchers? :waitasec:

It's like LE are playing mind games with us to figure out what they mean. I'm confuzzled. :crazy:

The first two phrases here deal with private property but the last deals with personal friendships with the suspect or poi.

Monday, 2:15 p.m. Update:

According to the Snyder Daily News, an entry on the blotter at the Scurry County Law Enforcement Center Sunday afternoon stated a woman called and asked to speak to an officer on the telephone in reference to both Dunn and Adkins being together at the caller’s residence looking for someone.
The officer responding stated there was not a vehicle at the location and no contact was made.


BBM: WHO was Billie and Shawn looking for, WHO was the caller, and at WHOSE residence ?

Obviously, Billie and Shawn were at the house of someone they know -- but -- is the caller just someone who resides at the house -- or is the caller the owner of the residence ??

Could there have been more than one person at the house that day and one of those individuals called, and not the person Billie and Shawn were speaking to ?

We have not heard anything more about this statement, but it was reported by BigC.

Maybe this might explain the "personal friendships" ...

Or maybe I am reading too much into this statement ?

OT but just wanted you to know that the Durr girl has been found!! Missing since Dec. 2 Looks like LE believe this case as probably a runaway. There's hope for Hailey. Pray, pray, pray for a miracle.

You may be onto something DGC, great sleuthing! Now who could this person be? The first time I read that article, I thought maybe BD and SA showed up at BD's brother's place looking for DD. We do know it's a female though.

I would like to know how many times, if at all BD has seen DD since CPS stepped in. Maybe she hasn't seen him since he left and wanted to talk to him. Her sister-in-law called LE? When LE showed up, s-i-l went to pick up DD from friends/Clints? Too many questions, not enough answers.

I just want one question answered though. WHERE IS HAILEY?

I was just watching a "disappeared" about a missing Texas woman whom the relatives believe was killed by her husband. The relatives claimed that some searchers were reporting back to the husband what was searched, where, and what was planned to be searched next. This warning to searchers reminded me of that, and wonder if people have been trying to plan a secret search of SA's family properties.

CBS 7 contacted the Department of Public Safety about the knife-cover.

The Colorado City Police called the CBS 7 crew on scene for directions and began an investigation into the potential evidentiary find.

The tire tracks, knife sheath and glasses were found on Friday January 7th. This is also when they took the Xbox and vehicle. (I remember because I tried very hard to distract myself reading about it just after I separated my shoulder.)

When the news came out about the finds... and the PD contacting the media after the media contacted them.. I didn't think the searchers just went to the media first.

It sounded to ME... like the people who FOUND these things could not get ahold of law enforcement or were not taken seriously if they did. So since there was media there, they had them contact law enforcement. Which would definitely be more effective.

Given the things we had been hearing about even other LE agencies not being able to get ahold of them... I didn't find this difficult to believe.

However, like I said, that was my IMPRESSION.

1) Tresspassing (non-authorized searches on private property)
2) Vandalism (damage to private property)
3) Trying to befriend the suspects/POI in an effort to find out "stuff" (hindering an investigation by "inserting" oneself).

All of which are illegal.

This could be LE telling the public, they are tired of these 3 rumors.

I think you're right. I think what is going on here is that LE is getting plenty of anonymous tips or people calling in, and what is being said is that so and so is doing a private search on private property, or so and so has damaged private property, or so and so is a good friend of BD or SA's so they should be checked out (I'm not sure if these friends are also searching, but that's another rumor possibility too). I think LE is just tired of these calls that turn out to be nothing but rumors, but they have to chase them down anyway, and it's wasting valuable time they could be spending looking for Hailey.

I think this is a warning that these shenanigans need to stop, and no one but people willing to show ID's and verify to LE their relationship to BD or SA, if they have one or not, is going to be allowed to search from now on. And if they do have relationship to either BD or SA, then they won't be allowed to search. LE is putting their foot down here, and I don't blame them. Things have been so crazy since this case is non-stop chaos every few days it seems, and they have to do something to get a better handle on things. I don't think it's LE that's out of control, it's the people that they are dealing with that are out of control. Who knows, maybe BD and SA themselves have sent friends to do searches on private property, and those friends ended up damaging private property.

Whatever the case may be, LE is tightening the reins. I don't blame them. LE has a ton on their hands, especially when the people at the center of the case keep creating situation after situation for LE to have to handle. Now that both of them have lawyers, I am praying those lawyers leash and muzzle them as much as possible. This is not about BD and SA, it's about Hailey, and it's about time Hailey became the center piece of the case despite all that BD and SA do to make themselves the center of attention.

I agree with you. I don't think the message is directed at any one age group, certainly not just at Hailey's family.

I don't know why they have chosen the radio as a method of getting this message out there, but if we know about it here on the internet, then surely everyone in the town of Colorado City will know about it. Because it's not just on the radio now.

Maybe they chose the radio because some of these searchers will hear it while driving around looking for Hailey? Could be as simple as that.

And maybe they didn't give it to local TV or print media because the warning is directed at some of those reporters?

Considering that there is an NTO, No Trespassing Order, against Shawn for BF's house/property, this may also be a reminder to BD/SA that they are not above the law.

There may also be the fact that 'some' people are not very nice and that searchers could be put in danger if they were to 'befriend' them.

While this is CERTAINLY reasonable, didn't LE sort of shoot themselves in the foot by declining to NAME the POIs until recently? How can you know if you are friends with a suspect who has not been named? And what happens if they develop a NEW POI. What happens if friends or family of that person had been involved in searches previously?

As for the radio announcement per LE to the "searchers" I found it to be all SOP talk with the one exception of the "friendship" issue..

Which IMO the entire reason for the radio announcement was for the sole purpose of making the "friendship" statement..I believe the other was thrown in there to make it not so glaringly obvious that LE is getting on the airwaves and making a direct statement to a specific person or persons{whom I am certain know exactly who they are and knew that statement was directed specifically at them}..

But am baffled by what could possibly be going on..is someone who is actively searching become close with one of the POI's therefor could be manipulated into covering up/hiding/disposing of any evidence that they happen upon??

Has Billie befriended one of them for the sole purpose to manipulate and use this person to further help the cover up/keep their azzes out of jail..
Could she even be directing them to certain areas where known pieces of evidence{maybe small pieces that one would not even realize was related to Hailey}and attempting to have this person or persons retrieve this "something" that Billie knows is there..to keep it out of the wrong hands{LE}..or from being discovered by honest searchers who happen upon it and would immediately call LE in??

I certainly wouldn't put it past her..At this point there is nothing that I wouldn't put past her..jmo tho!

It could be as simple as someone "in the know" marking off a section of the map as having been searched, when it has not been, to keep people out of there.
