Anthony family requesting Casey attend Funeral

If the reason Casey is unable to attend the private memorial is because the security costs are too great, then I really think the family should arrange a private memorial service in the prison chapel, as others have said.

I think Casey should be able to attend the memorial if she wants. I think any mental health professional would agree it would be healthy for her to as well, regardless of what crime she committed. She did give birth to Caylee.

But I do believe JB doesn’t want Casey to attend and the security costs are merely an excuse. Who knows what Casey wants. Maybe JB is making unreasonably high demands to “adequately ensure his client’s protection”. Otherwise why would the costs would be too high for a private family memorial if the date, time and place were not published. I don’t get it.

Regardless, a private memorial service at the prison chapel would make perfect sense to me.

We just don’t know what might be going on behind the scenes.....

Having murdered her daughter terminated her parental rights and I am sure if Caylee were able to tell us HER wishes she would not like to see the one that took her life in the crowd of "mourners" given the choice.

She did give birth to her and then she murdered her. I see no good reason for any killer to attend the funeral of their victim. It would be no different than Scott P. attending Lacy and Conners funeral. It is wrong, imho.

I think we have to think of sociopaths this way: they think of fellow humans the way some of us (like myself) think of insects. There are higher beings in the animal chain that I would never dream of killing, and it hurts me to see killed, like dogs, for example. however, I think nothing of stepping on ants or killing a mosquito. I've never considered the mosquito's feelings, I just think, I need to get it out of my room! and I've never cried over killing one. (my nephews, on the other hand, will try to take worms home with them and guide bees to doorways to be set free). Sociopaths think of us like insects - that's why they are able to kill without emotion. They think of themselves as higher, smarter beings free of judgment or fault, and that's why they have no guilt, and why they can get of insects that are "in the way" so easily. I really do believe that Drew Peterson considers the women he marries as pets or kept animals - he is smarter than them, they are lucky to have him take care of them, they are these poor, pathetic creatures to him, but if they 'betray' him or threaten his well-being by defying him, well he'll just have to "take care" of that problem.

Wow! Scary, but interesting explanation. I do think there's a difference between mammals and insects - no? (Since I've gotten older I take the time to try to shoo whatever out the door/window!)

I agree with other posters that KC should not be allowed to leave the jail to attend the funeral.
This child was found in a GARBAGE bag. You know, a plastic bag where garbage is disposed of???????. I wish the public would think about this fact, before even considering of allowing this so called mother attend a funeral.

No, no, no, no! Absolutely not! Casey should definitely NOT be allowed to attend Caylee's funeral. If it weren't for her, Caylee would be alive and well today.

I think LE is being very patient if they haven't interview CA and GA after Caylee was identified. If they haven't yet, and they keep putting off the funeral, I bet LE will interview them after this week, giving them through the first of the year to have the service. They won't keep waiting if they need to interview them some more. If KC does attend the funeral, I hope there won't be any cameras videoing her comings and goings, so the family can create sympathy for her. In respect for Caylee, I hope that it is a private service.

Just announced on Jane vel Mitchell, the Anthony family is now requesting that Casey attend the funeral!

Sure, why shouldn't the taxpayers pay to have her protected from the 1000's that dislike her. While she's out maybe she will help us find Zanny and the moment will surely come at the funeral .... when she cries her eyes out on JB's shoulder. Then of coarse JB will put his arm around her shoulder to comfort her.

Poor ... poor ... Casey, don't you guys realize how difficult it has been on her to recently find out her child has died.

Yes, and it seems they have been this way, through this entire sad case. It's like they think the rules do not apply to them , as they do for everyone else, and i find that maddening.

Yes ! This is a good point...but I think Casey does not want to face her mother at this time.. and I dont think Cindy wants to see Casey either, unless it would to be nudge her into the hole, or choke her. There should be NO immunity for any of them. They had their chance.:boohoo:

I am adding a thought to clarify my comments: I believe this desire to have Casey attend is all PR spin by the attorneys. It would appear
as if the Anthonys thought she was guilty if they didnt request it.. and vice versa for Casey.

KC gave birth to Caylee and then she took that life back. Caylee doesn't owe KC anything, much less any portion of the attention stemming from her brief memorial.

I've lurked obsessively, and found this forum due to my interest in the case.

I think that Casey should be able to attend, if only to see the attention lavished upon her dead toddler. NOT HER. NOT CASEY.

I think that Casey should not attend, because I think that assuring her safety would be too difficult for LE. Even if her parents would assume all the $$ for this, I think the onus on LE is too great.

My solution? I think that the private service should be taped and shown to Casey in her cell.

Maybe they can communicate about it via letters. That seems to have worked so wonderfully so far.

Oh, for goodness sake, it's nothing more than a publicity stunt on the Anthony's part. This family has been dysfunctional for many years and it was Caylee's unfortunate fate to be born into it. All they want (or appear to want) is the picture of a family misunderstood by the media and LE. This sounds like another Cindyism -a chance for a group-hug caught on camera and then the jury will see it during closing arguments. :behindbar

Reasons I think that the service should be shown to Casey in her cell:

1. She can't escape it. It's there...

2. No one else can be part of pity or glory or attention.

3. She watches it alone. Imagine how uncomfortable she'll be--wondering how to act during it.

4. For her trial, she's supposedly on the same "footing" or "know how" as everyone else.

5. I really hope Lee or Cindy or George uses it to mess with her. **that's where my Shrewishness comes out**
