The title of spokesperson certainly isn't trite, but what I meant is that a fee for booking or brokering an interview would be paid from monies paid to the person(s) giving the interview (the A's), not directly from NBC. In my own experience, having once been an office/function manager for a large museum in Boston where the museum could be booked for functions after hours; I made all the arrangements, wrote contracts, and was the go-between for the people holding the function and the museum. The function people paid the museum for the event, and in turn the museum paid me a percentage of it.
In this case, the A's received no money for their interview, and according to NBC the only money paid by them was a fee for the use of pictures. That money was paid directly to LG.
In any event there's surely more to come on this story, but this is how it seems to stand at the moment as I see it.
