The new lawyer for George and Cindy Anthony spoke to the public Monday (watch video). He said he didn't know about plans to prosecute them on charges related to the case, but he did tell Eyewitness News that he is seeking immunity for Caylee's grandparents.

Hmm...:waitasec:...immunity for what? Have they formally been charged with something?

Why would the grieving grandparents need immunity?

There's no denying that Cindy and George have given conflicting statements. If they intend to tell the truth from here on out, it makes sense that they'd want assurance that their prior statements not be used against them.

Because they've been telling nothing but a pack of lies since July 16th.

They may ask for immunity, but trust me, that prosecutor has a heckuva a lot more on the ball than that new attorney does, and I'm sure she's having herself quite the chuckle over that request about now.

Why shouldn't their prior statements be used against them? A lie is a lie, isn't it?

Oh, have no worries....they most definitely will be.

The blue of the OCSO jail jumpsuit will really bring out Cindy's eyes, won't it? :)

ITA. What do the A's have that the prosecutors need at this point? Why shouldn't they be charged if they've obstructed or worse? The ball is NOT in their court anymore.

Like I said earlier, if someone would like to point me to a *family member* statute that excuses criminal wrongdoing I'd love to see it.

SS, take me from the begining, June 9th. Start there with your theory. I can't take it anymore...I try and put it together and something jumps in the way..I respect your insight and now I want to know all of it. I can't take bits and pieces anymore, I'm almost bald from pulling my hair out trying to figure out everyones theories.Please.

I think along the same lines as Seriously. This crime may have been committed under their roof, the one they own. They will be re-investigated to see if anything was missing and they knew about it and didn't report it. Or they will have to confirm other stories that have been told that they themselves didn't address up front.

Ultimately, let's say that they knew or suspected that Casey had killed Caylee - and in fact, there are statements on record from the brother and from the grandfather (both his interview as well as Yuri's original report on the night Caylee's disappearance was reported) that there was belief that Casey did "something." They had the obligation early on to co-operate by telling what they knew to authorities right off the bat, and that really didn't happen. Yuri's interview with the grandmother is a case in point - she begs him to find Caylee and quit investigating her daughter and seemingly by the conversations she had with Ryan, Amy (the night she found Casey), and the discussion Lee had with Tony at his apartment when he picked up Casey's belongings show every member of this family *knew* Casey "lived on the edge", stole and lied repeatedly as her father said in his interview with the FBI.

In none of the statements I've read have I seen where the grandmother talks about the altercation with Casey that Lee reported in his interview, and Jesse repeated as hearing from Lee in his own interview with authorities. The grandmother also isn't recorded as talking about seeing a therapist and discussing gaining guardianship of Caylee from Casey, either (that comes from granny's brother in his interviews as hearing it from their mom.)

There is a great deal that the Anthonys have not offered to discuss with authorities and they are going to want to hear it all. They will leverage the fact that the Anthonys own that house and at least 1 of them didn't tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth in the interest of finding Caylee. IMO, the prosecution will have a field day with them to obtain their testimony at trial against Casey.

If the Anthony's are charged I will not be surprised at all.

I'm actually surprised that they haven't been charged already.

They have lied to LE on several occasions.

They both have given contradictory statements to LE.

They have intentionally mislead LE with the intent of protecting a murder suspect

They're withheld valuable information that would have been critical to this investigation.

They intentionally destroyed evidence that may have been used to convict their daughter or may have even been used to help locate Caylee.

Enough is Enough....!! Charge them both ...!! Throw the Book at them...!!

I get sick to my stomach when I think of Cindy baking Casey brownies while Caylee sat in a trash bag right around the corner from their house.

I totally agree!

She was. Way back in July when she was first arrested. While the child neglect charges were dropped in favor of the homicide charges, I believe the lying to police ones still stand.

Making false statements, in the state of Florida, is not an obstruction of justice charge. The former is a misdemeanor, not a felony charge. It's a difference in the law both in Florida as well as Federally. For example, Martha Stewart was convicted federally the obstruction of justice charge and falsifying documents. She could just as easily had the latter charge be making false statements.

Well, well...finally a little something more concrete. Not that it comes as a surprise to any of us, more like a relief that LE / FBI has had it with their lies too! This clarifies so many things...

1. Why MB stepped out of the picture so quickly (just not quick enough)
2. Why CA never filed charges for the "hacking" or shall I say "phantom hacking" incident
3. Why CA and GA finally SHUT UP - not because they wanted too...but, I guess it's better than the alternative for them right now...not sure if it's a little too late, though?
4. Probably why MN and possibly LG dumped them so quickly also

I could go on and on...but, I don't want to sound like CA! LOL

One last thing...I'm thinking they found some wonderful pics of phantom "Caylee Look Alikes" which were either taken by the A fam or photoshopped....time will tell!

These two people knew better than to lie to Le and the FBI
and they knew better than to hide evidence of murder!

No to immunity!!

I liked Nejame and I like this new lawyer too. It seems like now, CA is ready to listen. I like that he admits there were conflicting statements and they will make it right. He is not trying to make the public believe something they didn't see...Nice change. I think the A's need this guy and I hope they follow his advise. They are in a particular kind of H...that no one could relate to and if this guy can get them through this with some kind of dignity, maybe they can get some of the support they deserve.

Why shouldn't their prior statements be used against them? A lie is a lie, isn't it?

Because there are some situations in which grieving family members deserve leniency and understanding. Because LE needs the real truth and doesn't want Cindy and George to be afraid to speak truthfully. Because compassion is a good thing.

THEY HAVE TO FOLLOW HIS ADVICE NOW. *sorry for shouting* but they're in deep you know what.

I of course cannot provide a statute, but I can point you to case after case after case of family members not intervening before a crime became worse, where family members absolutely did not help the prosecution, where family member did not share their real beliefs of what may have happened, where family members did not share prior history. None ever charged with anything.

If the Anthony's had something to do with Caylee's death they will be charged of course, if they knowingly destroyed evidence, moved the body or any of the other things eluded to here they will be charged. The pants and knife being washed will never hold up to a prosecutable level.

Compassion for CAYLEE is a good thing. NOT for people lying to cover up for the person who killed her.

Oh, sorry, I wasn't demanding a statute from you... it was rhetorical.

For the record, I don't think the grandparents had anything to do with Caylee's death aside from some negligence, like if CA did throw KC out into the street, which would be fine with me except she also in essence threw the baby out too, with nowhere to go and knowing what kind of a mom KC really was. That is not a crime, although it is poor judgment.

I do believe they aggressively covered up a murder though. With their words AND their deeds, and that is against the law. I don't think they get a pass for being a family member.

Obviously they did NOT cover up a murder. Casey is in jail.

OK. They covered for a murderer, to be precise. In my opinion.
