Police search for missing 74-year-old Bella Vista woman | thv11.com


A Silver Alert has been activated for missing 74-year-old Barbara Ann Doyle of Bella Vista, Arkansas.

According to state police, Doyle was last known to be on Highlands Crossing Drive in Bella Vista, near Brookfield Assisted Living Center.

She was last seen wearing black glasses, black jeans, and a gray t-shirt.

Boyle has possible dementia, and she's been known to wander from home in the past.

Barbara Doyle, 74, was admitted to Brookfield Assisted Living at 11 a.m. on Thursday (Aug. 12) and has been missing since 3 p.m. the same day.

Officials say Doyle has possible dementia and is known to wander from home in the past, but staying near major roadways.

Her husband is her only relative in the area and lives in a neighborhood near Brookfield Assisted Living. He has told the police she has not returned home.

Doyle is 5", 120 pounds and wandered off on foot from the assisted living facility.

She was last seen wearing black jeans and a grey T-shirt-like sweater with black glasses that can hang around her neck.

Benton County Search and Rescue has brought in multiple bloodhounds from various agencies around the state to look for Doyle.

According to a Facebook post from the Bella Vista Police Department, crews searched through Thursday night for Barbara Doyle and reconvened on Friday morning with a fresh shift to begin again.

The Bella Vista Communications Director says Benton County Search and Rescue have deployed four bloodhounds from other agencies around the state. Search and Rescue says it waited to start the search till later in the day because temperatures needed to cool so the scents are lower to the ground for the dogs to detect.

Do they know that she wandered OFF the facility’s premises?

A different case:
What came to my mind was a very sad and concerning case several years back where a hospital went missing from her hospital bed, only to find her deceased in a stairwell of the same hospital some weeks later! Somehow that little-used stairwell got overlooked in the searches.

So, I hope they thoroughly check every nook and cranny on the Brookfield building as well as the surrounding area.

Missing just a few hours after arriving there! I just can’t imagine. How terrible!

A huge thanks to those from other agencies who have provided equipment, personnel and special training in this effort. This absolutely breaks my heart. I think the timeline could be off too. Husband checks her in at 11am. I'm sure he didn't just leave, probably stayed to make sure she was comfortable etc. He leaves and they NOTICE she was missing at 3pm or is that the time stamp on the video of her walking out? Still, I have a feeling her husband left and she went to follow him. IMO She didn't have any other family in the area other then her poor husband ( according to above MSM), where could she have wondered to? I feel so bad for her husband too. He must have felt awful knowing he needed help with her and took here there and now this. UGH.

The search area has been expanded as it is possible she traveled outside our initial search area in the time that has passed.
The 74 year old left the facility near the Highlands gate area on foot around 3 pm, Thursday, Aug 12.

Yes. Brookfield Assisted Living facilities offer Level 1 and Level 2 care, but according to their site, the Bella Vista facility only offers Level 1 care.

The Bella Vista facility offers Level 1 assisted care.

Bella Vista PD hasn’t provided an update since the one @swanniee11 posted yesterday. I hope Ms Barbara is found soon. The more time passes, the more worrisome this becomes.

We are experiencing hot temperatures throughout Arkansas right now. Although this isn’t anything unusual, it doesn’t make it any easier to endure. The actual temperatures average around the mid-upper 90’s; but we’ve been “lucky” enough to actually have quite a few upper 80’s temps (which is welcomed). It’s the humidity and heat index that worries me; I don’t think it would take long for Barbara to get overheated or dehydrated after being out for a period of time (even with the upper 80/lower 90 temps)
