Oh.. I didn't say he was raised to be compliant, he was just usually somewhat behaved in public (lol). I'm just now hearing about blanket training and thought the extent was just putting them back on the blanket when they got off, more or less redirecting their behavior. My kid is still strong willed and we clash constantly, I was thinking maybe I should have tried blanket training because imho teenagers suck.

No, I have a strong-willed teenage daughter, and although that sucks, you DON'T want to break their spirit...

It hurts my heart to think of an infant being hit/spanked whatever the correction was. You just don't hit little people. Ever. Or big people either. This is all so heartbreaking.

I mean, does he think people will be jumping to believe him? I would not be at all surprised to find that's actually what happened. BUT, neither of them are beaming lights of morality. Plus, he STILL didn't report what he did know, which he was legally mandated to do. So, I don't know. I have a feeling the Duggars minimized the crimes from the very instant they happened and thereafter. I just wish we had a more believable or trustworthy witness to it....than this dude.

I'm wondering if this would have remained the family's dirty little secret (omg, did I just type that?) if it weren't for the one non-family member who was involved. It just seems like everything that happened post-molestation was orchestrated. JB appeared to be very much aware of the legal ramifications and went to great lengths to protected JD from any fall-out, IMO. I can't believe that JD went and sued the Dept. of Human Services. I'm sure this family has a lawyer on speed dial.

I'm sorry, I just cannot watch any spin-offs. I once upon a time thought the show was folksy in a hokey kind of way, but after what I've learned now...no way.

They owe $14,000 in back taxes, from several years. Now, I totally understand how people living from paycheck to paycheck can get into a mess owing back taxes....but I'm not sure they're living paycheck to paycheck. Also, if you know you owe these taxes one year, wouldn't you somehow adjust your withholding so it doesn't happen again, and again? And with all those dependents....Anna, and the three kids....come on...there's really no "legal" reason to owe back taxes, what with all the deductions, EIC, etc. Some of those aren't available to you if you earn over a certain amount, but then, if you're making that much money...again, why aren't you adjusting your withholding so it doesn't happen year after year? I can think of all sort of reasons that people making a lot of $$ fall into tax trouble, but the reasons are usually because they didn't withhold enough money, or they're trying to evade paying taxes.

They are apparently not good stewards of their money. They are living beyond their means or....can't think of an "or."

I feel sorry for Anna. Most wives could go out and get a job to support the family when faced with an event like this - husband loses job, family owes money, future job prospects iffy - but what can she do? I'm guessing it's not acceptable in their culture for the wife to be the main breadwinner. And, she's about to give birth. I hope her faith is indeed strong as this is a very trying time for her.

I have expressed my sorrow for the victims and I too feel for Anna. About to give birth. To another girl. Just sayin..... And I am saying because this issue was never dealt with or accessed in the proper manner at 14. So what is Josh today? We don't know. Thanks to how the Parents chose to deal.

Yes, Anna is about to find out what she's made of. It is possible, I suppose, that her home life is bad.

One would think. Yet i have a sick feeling she will "stand by her man". Sadly.

It just keeps getting weirder and weirder:

Hutchens now claims that the elder Duggar did not tell him the whole story. In a prison interview reported by InTouch, Hutchens said that both Jim Bob and Josh told him that Josh had molested only one victim.
...
The year after his meeting with Josh Duggar, Hutchens pleaded guilty to eight counts of possessing child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 after authorities searching his home computer found multiple images of “prepubescent children” being sexually abused, according to the Pulaski County document.

The document states that Hutchens’ Yahoo profile username was “dadsluv2002” and that his profile listed such interests as “Kinki Kids,” “Child Play series,” “Strangers with Candy,” “Puberty” and “Preschools.” The report also states that between 2004 and 2005, Hutchens “spent considerable time on his computer viewing child 🤬🤬🤬🤬.”

My hunch would be the left out the victims who were his sisters, if this to be believed at all. I've lost faith in the truthfulness of this crowd. JMO

In a way I feel sorry for Anna but in another I don't. She supposedly knew about the molestation (or whatever watered down version she was given). So she still had hints of what happened. She chose to still marry him knowing that.

I hear you. And given the "chaperoned" situation before marriage who knows what the watered down version was. And we don't know what version she got from the Duggar Parents. She is of the same faith as well. I wish these victims would get a wake up call but their world truly is small.

I did too. And I did watch. I'm appalled to learn their true beliefs with parenting and now this!

Josh and Anna apparently have a covenant marriage; anyone offhand know the terms of that?

katerz, thanks for clarifying. Yes, Anna is a victim because she is stuck...

A lifelong marriage? That's what comes to mind for me when I hear it. That no matter what they stay married??

And you're welcome [emoji3] in that sense yes she is. But that isn't her fault. It's her faith's fault.

Absolutely her faiths fault. I cant imagine. So what is she to do "if" she finds one of her children a victim? pray harder? Just bouncing off your post.

I don't know if this is what Josh and Anna have, but here's some info:

"The bottom line of most covenant marriage laws is that a couple can not get a divorce easily. This means that when a couple gets their marriage license they must choose how they would end their marriage.

If a couple chooses the covenant marriage option, they must receive counseling before getting married and before getting a divorce. A no-fault divorce would not be an option. However, abuse, felony, adultery, abandonment, or long periods of separation are conditions accepted for a divorce.

The covenant marriage laws try to put the brakes on quickie divorces by fostering a renewed commitment to having a long-term marriage."

http://marriage.about.com/cs/covenantmarriage/a/covenant.htm

It's a legal form of marriage in Arizona, Arkansas, and Louisiana.

Never heard of it until now.

Probably.. She can't disobey her husband or his authority. Who would she tell? That would be distrusting her husband.. And as we've seen with the Duggar's.. Husband over children.
