Thank you. I was thinking of the famous Nike slogan of 'just do it'
In this case it means don't do it.
Warped beliefs about the responsibility of females. Scary. IMO
Okay, so it comes from Nike shoes. I was wondering if it meant an immodestly dressed woman was like a Nike Missile.

This is a random question, but one that I have thought about for some time.

At what age does Josh Duggar become an adult and is responsible for his own actions with no reflections back to his parents?

The way I see the world, Josh is responsible for his own life - good or bad, it is between he and wife Anna. Why do his parents still have a major role in his life? Is it because of the television series?

It is called a dysfunctional enmeshed family.

You can never leave.

I would use a stronger term human~ Because Josh is just an extension of programming done by his Cult Leaders ..Mr. and Mrs. JimBob Duggar!!

Josh must go to his leader in his family ( JimBob) for guidance on how to respond. I mean what to say, how to act whether in accusations to interviews about their life or activities . Or how to perform in their reality show. Nothing can be done or said without approval or in this case (sinning) directions on what to say, how to act etc...

Bottom line is a product of a Cult..which by definition means He will be Blamed by Society for what he did as a teenager and after as an adult. BUT His Father will make it excusable and that he is forgiven now because he CON-fessed! SMH

I still believe this marriage was arranged by his parents in order to give Josh an outlet for his sexual needs and start to procreate and fill his Quiver! Makes me shiver to think about Anna position.:gaah:

There is an article out at what I don't believe is a MSM source linkable here claiming that Jim Bob and Michelle's solution to Josh's 14-year-old "mistakes" was to find him a 14-year-old wife.

In the meantime, from NY Daily News:

The scandal-scarred Duggar family graces the latest cover of People magazine with the headline “Only in People: The Duggars now, life after scandal.” There’s just one problem — the family refused to speak directly to the magazine to avoid being asked about Josh Duggar’s molestation confession, a source close to the magazine tells Confidenti@l.

What's disturbing to me is the way Christians are bashed on this thread. You say Christians treat homosexuality, adultery and pedophilia all the same...not "some Christians" but Christians in general. That is not a true statement.

I was not referring to all Christians. That is why I put "Christians" in quotes in my original post.

I guess Josh never apologized to this guy whose picture he stole:

http://www.etonline.com/news/170492_josh_duggar_sex_scandal_now_involves_an_unwitting_hollywood_dj/

The embroiled 19 Kids and Counting star allegedly used the image of Matthew McCarthy, a DJ based out of West Hollywood, to cover up his real identity on the online dating site OKCupid.

A shaken up McCarthy, who also works as a bartender, told TMZ that the scandal has already cost him work, and he's considering taking legal action against the reality star.

While the Duggars were initially receptive to an interview with People, negotiations bogged down when it came to talking about Josh.

“They did not want to discuss the scandal, only the future of the family. They wanted to avoid it altogether, which is completely ridiculous,” explained a source at People. “How can they do a cover story and not address the issue at hand?”

I have been wondering the same. He's 27 and has been out of the family home and married for several years, he's got four kids (five?) and used to have a job and a life away from the parents' home.

So when he cheats his wife, why is it addressed by his parents first? What have they got to do with it?

A Statement From Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and Josh Duggar
https://www.facebook.com/duggarfamilyofficial?fref=nf

The family dynamics would probably be whacked with or without this show. But I think the show made it worse because it's the parents' brand to have all these kids around them and now with all the scandals Michelle and Jim Bob feel like they have to protect the franchise and that's why they couldn't let Josh make his own damn statement on one of his own damn websites.

ETA: I do believe that all parents are concerned about the decisions their children make in their lives... but after all the ado about teaching the children biblical values and guarding the children's hearts' against temptation and getting income from the speaking gigs about Christian parenting, Michelle and Jim Bob must be extraordinarily invested in proving that they're doing things right, and whatever Josh is doing reflects negatively on them as people are questioning if their system works after all. Regular Christian parents who haven't publicly held themselves up as the model parents and don't get their income from having a perfect family could deal with or write off one black sheep child more easily than the Duggars can.

http://cnsnews.com/news/article/lau...t-19-kids-and-counting-i-believe-every-single

In May 2015 Josh Duggar said, talking about gay marriage:

“All of Americans understand that the issue is not going away,” he continued, “so I think what we have to realize is this is only the beginning of a larger discussion, and what's really at stake here is the American family.”

“I believe strongly, being the oldest of 19 kids and counting that you know marriage is central to the family and every single child deserves a mother and father,” said Duggar. “And I'm sure grateful for my parents and I'm grateful for my wife and we have our fourth child on the way due in July, and I think it's just such a blessing when you see family and you see that you can honor each other.”

He had interesting ways of honoring his family...

I guess he thinks if gay people marry, they can't honor their spouses by setting up secret dating service accounts and having affairs?

I really, really want to know what genre of 🤬🤬🤬🤬 he had a hankering for. The Gods
would be working overtime if it was "gay 🤬🤬🤬🤬".

I don't think he is into men. Still it would be good for someone to check just what kind of 🤬🤬🤬🤬 it was.

If history has taught us anything it's when anti-gay crusaders get busted it's often due to their personal homosexual interests.

Did Michelle and Anna homebirth their children? I've been reading so much about the Duggars, but missed that part.

From their website:
Q: How many home births has Michelle experienced?
A: Two of Michelle's children have been born at home (Jinger and Joseph).

And I can't find information on this, but I am pretty certain that all of Anna's children were home births.

Catching up on a week's worth of posts. Gitana, I recall, but don't have a link for any of this. So AFAIK, Jana wants to go to Bible College to study to be a teacher. She has asked her parents' permission and says she won't leave home without it.

On one update, IMHO, MD and JBD proudly announced that one of their sons (can't remember which) is going to Bible College to become a preacher. Mom and Dad are so proud of him!

As for Jana, she still can be teacher to all the younger children, so why bother with college? Get it? I sure hope she doesn't end up a spinster who goes from helping to "educate" her siblings to caring for her elderly parents.

BBM I'm not happy about the "spinster" word. "Spinster" has a pejorative connotation. Not everyone has a desire to get married. Plus, until recently some kinds of marriages were not legal in many states. Many people are in committed relationships. Many others enjoy the freedom to travel, own companies, entertain their friends and family.
Plus, many people have obligations to take care of their elderly parents. This can often be done with grace rather than resentment.
But I think your point is well meant in that it involves subjecting a daughter's wishes, individuality, and independence—and diverting her talents—into a caregiving role: she is captive.

I am not exactly sure that it is true that the conditions don't spawn this behavior. In the book Princess about a Saudi American princess , the women were kept in their compounds and the men would fly off to Germany to have sex with young children.

And David Koresh was the sinful Jesus who would masturbate while giving his sermons. Then there are all of those extreme Mormon groups that seem to have their inappropriate issues.

I am not sure what concluson children raised to think that women are less than a man and have no rights can deduce on their own.

I think these cuts are filled with atrocities.

Yes, there is something wrong with these examples of men. Their behavior is not just reprehensible, it is criminal. But most Mormons abhor sexual acting out of any kind, the Muslims I know wouldn't dream of assaulting a child, nor would the Austrians in the gender-segregated village where I grew up.

Great post. I'm glad you mentioned the thinking that men are unable to control their urges. I was going to bring that up the other day after a poster posted that JD was unable to grow up as a normal male but they (the poster) were not making excuses for him.
I don't know much about this family other than the recent news stories. Were there other male children in the family?
If so,they didn't have the need to fiddle with their siblings due to the way they were raised. At least as far as we know.
Same for the female children.
And what is this NIKE (sexual thoughts) thing that they yell? Does the word Nike have some sort of meaning or is it just an oddity from the family?
I like the idea of some sort of help group set up for the females raised in this cult. IMO

Nike means victory in ancient Greek (maybe modern Greek too, IDK); there is a goddess of Victory. However, the Duggars may not be able to think quite so deep, since they are unlikely to be home-schooled in ancient Greek or pagan mythology. Perhaps when they don't play with their privates although ardently and earnestly wishing they could, they rack up points to get a new pair of sneakers? Heck, there'd be motivation to rack up points all day long!
