The kids (read girls) did more than help out. Michelle is lying through her teeth when she whines about all that she had to take care of for her family. The younger children are given to an older sister for the older sister to raise. Michelle was more worried about being pregnant, taking care of a newborn and then pass that child off to the others. And JB know how to work a washing machine? Really? He's a MAN for God's sake. That's not his job! His job is to be the lord and master off his children and wife, tell them what to do, how to dress, how to wear their hair, who to marry, etc. He doesn't have time for housework. The Duggar's are lucky that they only have one dysfunctional child (or do they have more that are being kept secret as well?), IMO. When the parents don't have time for the children then problems are going to come up, children are going to act out, etc. God help ALL of those kids, they sure do need it.

The downsides of Josh Duggar's youthful misdeeds coming to light:

1. Josh Duggar feels bad. His enablers Michelle and Jim Bob feel bad. The girls might feel bad.
2. Some more Duggars need to get a job.

The advantages of Josh Duggar's youthful misdeeds coming to light:
1. People know to watch their daughters when he's around.
2. People know to watch his daughters and report him if they see warning signs that they've been abused. (Yeah, I know, wishful thinking, no need to report anything because Jesus forgives.)
3. They're off the television.
4. Some people might think twice before they buy the brand of religion the Duggars are selling.
5. The younger brother and his girlfriend who were far too young to marry broke up the courtship. (I don't know why but I would be very surprised if the girl's parents were fine with the girl marrying into a family infamous for incest and starting to have a lot of babies with a boy that has no apparent source of income anymore now that the show is gone.)
6. Some of the girls might be glad they can stop pretending their brother never did anything wrong.

Downside #3
Some people may think that the way the Duggars handled this situation is appropriate and do the same

4. Some of the public will take to heart Jim Bob's assertion that "These Things Happen" in families, with the inference being it is not really that big of a deal

5. Some people may think molesting a girl while she is sleeping is not at all a big deal

this was in the comment section from an article in 2009 about the P/Q movement. Note that she mentions the Duggars, aptly prophetically, when she says she's not saying they had incest in their,
family,but that it does exist within the P/Q.

So, these people know it's going on and have known it all along. Basically, the entire article lays it out, how these people are recreating the Bible. So Jim Bob is creating a tribe, and from there he'll found a nation...oops fail. Bible didn't have internet.

Unless TLC features the Duggars’ response to sexual abuse as an example of what not to do, then the documentary will simply serve Jim Bob and Michelle’s purpose: giving us the answers they want us to hear and not the answers abuse victims need."

I am reading backwards to catch up so when I came upon this quote from the article, I stopped to read the article. The author says exactly what was going thru my mind!

The Duggars did not handle the abuse situation properly so why should they be in a documentary discussing it? They hid it and had someone else not brought it out, we would never know about it. We will never know the "real" story as I feel sure the parents had ample time to work on a story that sounded the least embarrassing for all parties. Perhaps JB and MD even consulted with an attorney on how to express it. JMO.

With the police department being in on a cover-up of JB reporting the incident, the Duggars are only looking for another payday. For me, this documentary will have little meaning if JB and MD are on it as their views and behaviors are a bit different than the rest of the worlds and IMO they are in a totally different category than the other families that will be speaking about abuse.

So Michelle is just realizing how much work her family is? The buddy system got thrown out of whack when Jill and Jessa got married! If the oldest daughter could have her way, she wanted to leave to go to college this fall. Has anyone heard more on this?

From what I have read and the way I understood it, Michelle was pretty much the caretaker of the latest baby. But now that there are no babies, and two less grown up helpers, Mom has to pitch in like Mom's are supposed to do. What a shame.

Yes, this is sarcastic! Children are not to be used as second mothers because Mommy has so many kids she doesn't know what to do with them! Having chores around the house is fine, but having a buddy who you are responsible for, is way too much IMO.

With almost every post that the Duggars make, fans respond by expressing their hope that they would soon get to see the Duggars on television again, since they want to see a "nice Christian family" setting a good example on the small screen.
