uh oh. Poof!
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Leviticus+1212 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Say to the Israelites: ‘A woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her monthly period. 3 On the eighth day the boy is to be circumcised. 4 Then the woman must wait thirty-three days to be purified from her bleeding. She must not touch anything sacred or go to the sanctuary until the days of her purification are over. 5 If she gives birth to a daughter, for two weeks the woman will be unclean, as during her period. Then she must wait sixty-six days to be purified from her bleeding.
6 “‘When the days of her purification for a son or daughter are over, she is to bring to the priest at the entrance to the tent of meeting a year-old lamb for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or a dove for a sin offering.[a] 7 He shall offer them before the Lord to make atonement for her, and then she will be ceremonially clean from her flow of blood.
“‘These are the regulations for the woman who gives birth to a boy or a girl. 8 But if she cannot afford a lamb, she is to bring two doves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering. In this way the priest will make atonement for her, and she will be clean.’”
I'm sure that there's a perfectly stupid reason for it.
LOL - Ron Jeremy is pretty much on par with Josh in the looks dept.
But wasn't he, er, "gifted" in other ways?
Just as the scripture I posted above says, there are many, many people who claim to be Christians and do, say, create things in His Name. My beliefs don't align with any movement, sect, denominations, reconstructions, or theocracies. My beliefs as a Christian are to live as close to Jesus' example as possible. The whole point of Christianity is the following and accepting of Christ in a personal and intimate way. This can't be achieved in a group, a movement, or by force of any reigning or governing bodies. It's a chosen relationship.
Q17 (Republicans) Would you support or oppose establishing Christianity as the national religion?
57% Support establishing Christianity as the national religion
30% Oppose establishing Christianity as the national religion
Not sure 13%
uh oh. Poof!
Thanks wasn't enough.
I am sorry to say that I have known woefully few self-described Christians who appeared to be attempting to live according to Jesus's example. In fact, I can count them on one hand.
But I've known too many self-described Christians like the Duggars, who reek of hypocrisy and self-righteousness, to count.
In early 2013 they found out the are expecting again, with baby Duggar due in June! Anna now works full time as a Mommy, and the couple resides at their Fayetteville, Arkansas home.
Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...x-toy-experimentation-more.html#ixzz3jQNgtrGcThe site reports: 'Someone using a credit card belonging to a Joshua J. Duggar, with a billing address that matches the home in Fayetteville, Arkansas owned by his grandmother Mary - a home that was consistently on their now-cancelled TV show, and in which Anna Duggar gave birth to her first child - paid a total of $986.76 for two different monthly Ashley Madison subscriptions from February of 2013 until May of 2015.
I need more than two hands to count the first group but that's only because I went to a Jesuit college. If I were to not count anyone from those years it would be only one hand.
The second group though.. definitely too many to count. I don't know how many times I've heard the "cast the first stone" quote but at this point, imo, it just makes a sorry excuse for bad or even reprehensible behavior. It wouldn't surprise me if Duggar supporters were using it as a defense now.

Regarding your second paragraph: interesting. I can't think of any times I've heard that quote coming from a Christian to defend another Christian's non-Christian behavior.
I recall hearing it only from non-Christians pointing out so-called Christians throwing stones at others, like the Duggars throwing stones at gays and transgenders.

Maybe we're thinking of different quotes? I meant the "He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her" one. So if you're not perfect you have no right to criticize Josh Duggar.
I live in Toronto and repeatedly heard this thrown (!) around during the Rob Ford crisis. It was even on a billboard.

Just wondering if Michelle remembered to bring the pigeons to the entrance of the tent every time because if she forgot she is unclean. (if she lives according to part of the rule, shouldn't she follow the whole thing?)
And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

I have come across the quote in social media and the point the poster was trying to make you can't criticize Josh Duggar for molesting his sisters if you're not perfect yourself. Jesus forgives.
That is so horribly sad and wrong. Physical intimacy has many different facets. What kind of love would it be if my husband didn't care if I wanted to participate or not, but only that I fulfill his needs? And what about if I fell ill, disabled, or mentally incompetent and couldn't perform? What kind of love would it be if my husband wouldn't love me then? It's not frequent sex that keeps a man from infidelity, it's his commitment to the vows he spoke before God.Get your vomit buckets ready before you read this

You know, though... while my first instinct is to be disgusted by people like this, I believe that "Christians" who act this way have the knowledge that they are forgiven by Christ, but *they* haven't forgiven themselves. Because of this, acting pompous elevates them to a inflated feeling of righteousness that really is just ultimately masking their insecurity and disgust at their own transgressions. How terrible to be stuck in such a state. It doesn't excuse their actions, but like my pastor says "Healthy people contribute healthy things to relationships. Hurting people hurt other people."Thanks wasn't enough.
