GUILTY Arizona girl, 2, left in car by father on 109-degree day and is found dead #2 (guilty plea, father found dead 5 November 2025 before sentencing)

Infuriating… the various temperature readings when LE was conducting tests on the car to determine how long it took after the car turned off for the interior temperature to rise.

After about an hour the temperature of Parker’s car seat rose to 149 degrees Fahrenheit!

Even the outside temperatures caused great discomfort for the officers, who needed copious amounts of ice, water and Gatorade along with breaks to sit in their air conditioned cars.

Imagine a helpless toddler strapped into that car seat for hours.

I really don’t get it. I’m back in Florida after 25 years in the PNW. Get into a hot car on a hot day just once and you’ll never, ever consider leaving any child, adult or animal locked in that car for minutes, let alone hours. How can anyone living in “hot” states not be aware of this?

Nasty, selfish man deserves to go to prison. And his wife… I can’t even. Grr!

I am up to page 268. Wow.

Cynthia, no love lost there. She would have been scathing on the stand. You go!

As I read this, it is just so tragic.

I always find it interesting how people can do one split second decision or action that completely changes the course of their life. CS seemed to have a great life. A beautiful wife, children, he was a stay at home Dad. And he blew it.

He deserves prison.

Has it been said how they actually met? She was already working as a doctor then, or was she still in school? Seems like they would have run in different circles then. Maybe she met him while he was bartending?

And where did "scientist" come from? One daughter said he doesn't work now, but he used to be a bartender and a scientist, but had to retire to stay home and take care of her and her sister. (paraphrased) (And I can't believe this is the story he told his girls, while they still must have been very young! Feeding his pretentious, self-inflating false narrative to his little girls even, really?? His ego is outrageous.)

Maybe his college major was something sciency? Did he ever graduate college?
A lot of bartenders will refer to themselves as “mixologists”. Maybe that was his very much inflated way of telling everyone he’s some scientific genius.

The thing is, it wasn't a split second decision. It was a pattern of neglectful and abusive behaviour that went on for many years with all of his children. It was only chance that it was Parker who died and not one of the others, years earlier. His whole attitude was that everyone got out alive, so whatever he did was fine. The using the car as a babysitter, the speeding, the drinking, the stealing, the lying, the emotional manipulation and abuse of everyone in his sphere.

But it wasn't fine. And eventually, not everyone survived.

I can only imagine the amount of therapy all three of his living children are going to need.

EDIT: Sorry! This was meant to be a reply to @mickey2942

Yes. CS had a pattern of careless behavior. He was a danger to others. And he did finally get caught.

I just find it interesting, how people do deliberate actions, theft, driving drunk, cheating on a spouse, leaving kids in the car, using drugs...and it spirals their lives out of control. So many opportunities to straighten up. And they blow it.

It must be some sort of personality disorder. I don't know if I am explaining it correctly...I just find it fascinating how people do this. Just completely destroy their lives with their impulsive behavior.

Yes, I know they destroyed the lives of others....but I wish I could talk to these people, who destroyed their lives, write a book, to ask them..

Of course most of them are so narcissistic, they are wrapped up in blaming others for their circumstances. No doubt, CS "blames' his daughters for not reminding him to get their sister out of the car. Or it was the "car" that was at fault...on and on...full of self righteous anger. Because nothing is their fault. Of course.

"Once the seat was inside the vehicle, I then recorded Crime Scene SupervisorAronson utilizing a thermal imager to check surface area temperatures within thevehicle. I recorded as the imager calibrated on it's own. We moved to thefront passenger door. I observed the surface temperature ofthe center consoleto be about 105. 9. During this time the car had been running for about 30minutes with the air conditioner on high."*

And this was WITH the A/C on high!! I would've expected the car's A/C to be able to cool the car to well under 100 degrees F, but I would've been wrong apparently. I guess even w/the air on high cool, it's no match for the sweltering Arizona heat. Oh, how she was suffering. Do you think CS has allowed himself to think about that for even a minute? I do not.

*(from the report where the police were documenting their experiments they made leaving CS's Acura running in the daytime sun, to re-create the conditions the car was in when Parker died)

Sentencing has been set for Nov. 21 in the case, but Scholtes must turn himself in three weeks prior on Nov. 3.
Arizona Dad Whose Daughter, 2, Died in 109-Degree Hot Car While He Played Video Games Gets Plea Deal

I'm tempted to start a poll to see who thinks he will actually show on the 3rd. I think those of you who think he might bolt are on to something. It seem as if he's spent his entire adult life avoiding responsibility and accountability. Not sure he has it in him to change this late in the game.

I guess we have Cynthia and Juan to thank for his accepting the plea deal. 🏆

( I know it’s not that simple but credit where it’s due!)
And a small round of applause for sleuths who didn't stop bringing attention to the case. In the document, CK stated that initially she was considered "pro-CS" and that it was an accident, but she kept seeing social media posts that opened her eyes and allowed her to open up to LE about her experiences and knowledge of what was going on with CS and in that house.

Maybe she read some posts on WS, which ultimately helped bring justice for little Parker.

Yes, and I think what really opened her eyes was seeing these truths written up in official police documents comprising what I believe turned out to be important and influential evidence in the case against CS.

"He's going to hate prison"

That's why I'm thinking he is going to make a run for it across the border. He hasn't got much to lose by running. He's going to prison whether he shows up or whether he runs across to Mexico. I just don't think he is going to end up being "honorable" about this all. The girls won't even know him in 20 years. He'll just be an old guy ex-con.

He'll get $$$ from her, I think. I don't yet feel like she is completely out of this.

But I might be wrong.
Agreed. I will be completely shocked if he doesn't make a run for it. And I CANNOT believe that he is not only out and about, but permitted to be in the same home with his two youngest daughters. I have no idea what ES sees in him, either. Hoping she soon wakes up from whatever narcissistic spell he cast on her.

I live in Phoenix and am friends with a local firefighter. When I told her about this case she winced and said how much she hates those calls. She also said the 109 degree inside-the-car reading written in the reports was likely wrong, and had to have been so low because the doors were open for awhile during her removal by her parents and for the investigation, and that, in her experience, exterior temps from 105-115 degrees would lead to interior temps of between 140-160 degrees after 1-2 hours. Parker genuinely baked to death. My husband and I went to the movies one afternoon this summer and when we turned on the car through the app the interior was 149.

Also, I wonder if his oldest will testify at the sentencing. I think he might get a sentence closer to 30 years if she does.

From the document dump - it was definitely higher.

After the internal temperatures were recorded for approximately an hour, the
surface temperatures were taken using the Fluke surface thermometer. I noted
at 1435 hours the following surface temperatures within the vehicle:
the front passenger seat- 137. 8 degrees Fahrenheit ( documented incorrectly on
paper, However it was confirmed by watching the Body worn camera video. This
error occurred due to the test being started before I was prepared to write. It
was the only test I was not prepared for).
The center console - 141. 4 degrees Fahrenheit
_____s carseat- 149. 1 degrees Fahrenheit
Dash board- 185 degrees Fahrenheit.

I remember this from the discussion last year but it doesn't change what you guys are posting. Good writeup on AI.

A car moving at normal speed would mean the air conditioner works more efficiently than when the same car is parked with a/c on. It's somethimg to bear in mind for anyone who thinks...oh it will be cool enough to leave kids inside , after all if was cool enough driving around.

Yes, and children are unable to regulate their temperature as effectively as adults. So their body temperature rises 3x faster than an adult would.

That is why adults need to monitor the heat, and keep them cool. I often brought my kids in the house in the summer after lunch, time for a "Siesta".

OK I see now. That makes sense.

The link says it's expired when I click on it. Anyone know of another place I can read this document?

I see all you on Team Flee to Mexico. I kind of think he will make a semi-serious suicide attempt on Nov 2 to try to delay turning himself in.

Yes. I had a toss up on Suicide or Run For the Border. If I am wrong, and CS shows up for prison, I will be surprised.

I agree. And there is so much more in this document. So many things that are just infuriating. Everything makes CS out to be so completely unlikeable and for good reasons. I read the entire report, almost 300 pages. And now even more than before, I am so glad CS is going to be removed from this family for what as well may be forever. The only question in my mind is how it will happen... either he'll return to court to be sentenced to probably 30 years, or he'll try to run, with the same eventual outcome inevitably, or he will take himself out before his sentencing date, a la Fotis Dulos, the coward's way out. As long as he's out.

All support to the family he will leave behind. I'm sure it will be hard on them no matter what, but they will be better off without him, imo.
