WASHINGTON (TND) — Jordan van der Sloot is scheduled to be arraigned in an Alabama courtroom Friday after attempts to extort money from Natalee Holloway's mother.
Van der Sloot is the main suspect in the 2005 murder of Holloway in Aruba.
A spokesperson from the Department of Justice confirmed he is expected to appear at 11 a.m. in a Birmingham court.

WASHINGTON (TND) — Jordan van der Sloot is scheduled to be arraigned in an Alabama courtroom Friday after attempts to extort money from Natalee Holloway's mother.
Van der Sloot is the main suspect in the 2005 murder of Holloway in Aruba.
A spokesperson from the Department of Justice confirmed he is expected to appear at 11 a.m. in a Birmingham court.
Joran van der Sloot will be asked Friday to enter a plea in US federal court where he is accused of extorting tens of thousands of dollars from the mother of Natalee Holloway, whose disappearance while on a trip in 2005 became an international mystery.

I'm with Dave. He searched way more than any other family member or media personality did. But I don't see how they can morph this relatively puny charge into a murder or disappearing the body confession. Also I don't see any 40 yrs sentence, although it really doesn't matter, he's got so much time to serve in Peru anyway.
I hope the MSM doesn't escalate this into a nightly show. Complete with gang rape allegations ad nauseam.
Just me, I guess, I would prefer to hold onto the belief that my daughter died a relatively peaceful death, absent any proof otherwise.
That is one huge guy. looks like 6' 6". I am 1.60 meters, my head would top out at his armpits.

The suspect in the 2005 disappearance of American Natalee Holloway in Aruba, Joran van der Sloot, has been "severely beaten" in a prison in Peru, his lawyer Maximo Altez told CBS News.
"It was a fight between prisoners. I don't know who assaulted Joran," Altez said, without providing any further detail on his client's condition.
There is no proof Natalee was abducted or murdered. Is this the way to get cooperation from JVDS? The article quotes her lawyer as saying that Joran has no "sympathy" for BH.
