Aruba - Natalee Holloway, 18, Oranjestad, 30 May 2005 *AL extortion trial* *Guilty* #3

I don’t know what to believe of his confession, but I have lived in a beach town for over 30 years now, and we had cinder block homes and fences everywhere on the beach before hurricane Ivan wiped most of the beach out and it was rebuilt. Just putting it out there. But as I said …I’m not sure I believe anything he says - polygraph or no polygraph.

In all of his previous fake confessions, JVDS's been consistent about one thing -- that NH's body won't be found.

I don't doubt he killed her but I'm also not relying on the polygraph as the absolute to seal his plea agreement! I'm actually surprised the Feds even offered that as if it was credible evidence. However, if they said the results of his polygraph exam were inconclusive, I'd be inclined to believe this over anything else.

I 100% believe JVDS did it and he wasn’t the only one involved. But to play devil’s advocate, this plea deal seems like a “admit you did it, give some details, and we drop this case and you get to go back to your cushy jail in Peru.”

In other words, I think Joran is still lying. I’m skeptical that this story is even 50% accurate and I wholly believe he will recant some day and go back to saying he’s innocent. He’ll say he had to take the deal and give the authorities whatever they wanted to make it happen.
He'll probably do everything you just listed, but I'm still happy and relieved that he has finally admitted to killing Natalie.
At this point the details don't matter. I don't think he'll ever give the exact details. He is such a liar that I feel like he doesn't even remember the truthful details anymore.

If Natalie's mother is content with him confessing to murder then that's all that matters at this point. I hope she doesn't spend a minute of her time ever trying to get truthful details from that monster.

I think Joran is determined to hurt Beth any way he can. 1) he never wants her to have the truth, and 2) when forced to admit guilt and provide details he is going to go with something that he thinks will add more pain to Beth.
Welcome to WS @AnnieDuke :)

I agree that JVDS has long viewed Beth as the perennial pebble in his shoe, a billboard in his face, etc. that failed to go away, and kept his name alive for 18 years as the prime suspect in her daughter's demise. He can't believe NH wasn't forgotten and he wasn't allowed to live his life as a ruling, dominant, prison inmate.

Was JVDS ever wrong! NH was every coed on spring break, and everyone's daughter on Senior trip.

I'm curious how simply placing "her body in the water" worked. Bodies float. Did he weight her down or was tide possibly going out and carried her body out to sea? Color me a skeptic but I'm not 100% comfortable with his confession.
Good point, though I don't suppose it even matters if JVDS' confession is true, as long as it gives some sense of finality to NH's parents. (I'm deliberately avoiding the word "closure" because I doubt there is any such thing for parents of a murdered child.)

Re putting a body in the water, I have never been to Aruba but those who have been there wrote of strong currents going out to sea at various places and also the many, many sharks in the ocean around the island. Either could have taken care of a body left near the shore. (There were beaches where I grew up in Florida that were quite shallow; one could walk far out without getting into deep water. The beaches I am thinking of had strong undertows that more than once carried me out to sea; I had to actively "catch a wave" to body surf back to the beach.)

A third possibility is that somebody whom Van Der Sloot doesn't want to implicate came to the beach later to clean up after him.

"I find a space.... I lay her down... I get her to kiss me... I feel her up.... she says no....I insist..." HE. FORCED. HIMSELF. ON. HER.

Vile human being. Emphasis on vile. Exaggeration on human being.

Wow. Concurrently. Wiping out the earier expectation that he comes to usa after full sentence in Peru. That's a huge win for him.
Maybe, but if he had any hope of being released early from the Peruvian prison, I think that hope is pretty much dashed now. Even IF he gets out early from one prison, another one will be waiting for the next 20 years!

This is terrifying. This man is as high risk as they get in terms of probability of re-offending. He killed a woman WHILE he was under intense, worldwide scrutiny for possibly killing a different woman (Natalee). Now we know he killed them both in the same way. He is not safe, heart opened to JC or not.
I agree with you re Jesus, but I believe most studies find that violent offenders commit fewer offenses the farther they get from puberty.

If JVDS survives until the mid-2040s, let's pray his homicidal tendencies have abated.

Interesting when he says he half pulled, half walked with her and put her in the ocean. In one of his previous versions he walks her to where a boat is. Walks her while she is dead.

Then; his saying - put her in the ocean - could have passed the poly while covering a range of scenarios. Like putting her in the ocean from a boat.

I don"t remember if it was ever released whether he clocked in at school the next day. Apparently his confession includes his returning home to watch 🤬🤬🤬🤬 that night; I wonder if they have those time data. To do that he would have had to just push her in (not true, imo) or very quickly have turned her over to another party. And literally washed his hands of it.

Lots of missing stuff...did deepak really return for him? He must have been covered in blood or very wet without bloody shirt. Something is not ringing true about just putting her in the water. It must have been 3 am or so and they were right by the fishermen's huts. Early risers, fishermen. What, maybe 2-3 hours for the body to drift slowly along shore? Haven't heard about sharks, but that could be quick
In the confession I heard on YouTube, JVDS claims he walked home after killing NH. He says nothing about meeting up with either of the Kalpoe brothers later.

I do see your point about walking home in bloody clothes. But if he is telling the truth that he kicked NH and then dropped a cinder block on her head, he may have been able to drag her body into the water without getting covered in blood himself.

Why would he want to get out very soon? Women sending money, internet poker, conjugal visits 2x a week. Private quite roomy room (i posted the video of him in the entrance to it).

Similar to Watts, never a need to worry about a job, food, shelter again in his whole miserable life, in watts' case. In a special prison that is more protected.

Joran could be out mid 50s, quite a well off guy.with a system of family and friends helping set it all up on the outside while he funnels out the $$.

There's something with that cinderblock...they don't float.....why would it be washed up on the beach anyway unless it was found by an old building.

Iirc there was a deal about a party boat nearby, or anchored and with a party going on. They would have dingies or skiffs too. There's still the possibility of Venezuela where no one would be looking for her in a fish pot.

I doubt the shore water story. But I also doubt he called home for help.

Imo
I don't think he says the cinder block washed up on the beach.

He isn't specific, but it seems to me he was saying there were cinder blocks laying around and he grabbed the closest one. (His interrogator asks him if he means "like the blocks on the beach" and JVDS says yes.)

I loathe this pitiful excuse of a heartless human. He is a killer of young, thriving, beautiful women and preys upon the unsuspecting and vulnerable in society.

“As far as I’m concerned, it’s over,” Beth Holloway, Natalee's mother, told reporters outside the federal courthouse in Alabama. “Joran van der Sloot is no longer the suspect in my daughter’s murder. He is the killer.”

The chief suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway has admitted he beat the young Alabama woman to death on a beach in Aruba after she refused his advances.
Van der Sloot said in his confession that he pushed her body into the sea.

I think this, too. Paulus dumped Natalee’s body way out in the ocean.

However, I really thought NH died from overdosing on date rape drugs that JVDS slipped in her drinks, he freaked out and called daddy.

I did NOT see him crushing in her poor face because she resisted him raping her.

Not that one is better than the other, I just remember the stories about JVDS hanging out at all the tourist bars, trying to pickup girls and my mind went straight to “rohypnol” or the like.

JVDS should have received consecutive sentences and not concurrent. He’ll do it again.

"Rohypnol" isn't mutually exclusive with "refused his advances." Both could be true (though, obviously, she didn't die of both).

Per internet legal sources, the "usual" sentence for the crime to which JVDS pleaded is 3 to 4 years. So he got quite a bit more, even if it is to be served consecutively. The Birmingham court doesn't have the jurisdiction to sentence him for murder.

If we look on the bright side, JVDS isn't getting out until he is in late middle-age.

You may be right, but I've never heard any inmate say s/he enjoyed life in prison, no matter how cushy the institution.
