I fully expected more information to come out some day about what actually happened to Natalie that night. Aruba has hemmed and hawed, keeping her murder investigation open even after Arubia's statue of limitations on her murder ran out...without officially saying that those culpable cannot/will not be prosecuted. Aruba clings to it's own internally judical system's rules yet relies on Dutch higher courts for decisions too. IMO it's a travesty for any kind of real justice in Natalie's case...what a mess of a "country". AJMO

dutch news is reporting that joran van der sloot was found wounded in his cell, and it’s suspected he did a suicide attempt. he’s in stable condition now. apparently netflix has announced a documentary series where natalee’s mother will tell the whole story for the first time just a few days ago, so i’m guessing the attempt was related to that.

Apparently he sent a note to stephany's parents, saying he wanted to say he was sorry, and to converse and explain things to them, why what happened took 0lace, and that he understands if they don't want to. (Note another report says he sent the message while he was appearing on TV, not via a letter)

Well I'll keep it short, I don't think he killed Natalee although IMO he was there when she died. Anyway, iirc he apologized to Beth in jail in the us.

The big question in my mind is BH going to go on with the version joran confessed to while Greta is publicizing an upcoming book contradicting his whole story? She's going on with a netflix deal while knowing Greta is disputing it all? Just curious. So they both cash in on different versions, I guess.

I would not agree to meet with him; and I would never believe a word out of his mouth. I would like to know the real story. I often wonder if his father helped him in the cover-up and what the Kalpoe brothers may truly know.

I think that he murdered Stephany because he wanted to rob her. I don't believe that she discovered that he murdered Natalee while she was in his room. Did he borrow gambling money from her and lure her to his room under the guise that he had money to repay her in his room?

I was delighted that he was not able to escape justice in Stephany's murder. Joran murdered the wrong person in that country. Also, I was absolutely astounded at how quickly Beth was able to get to Aruba (on a friend's private plane). Yet, the murder and cover-up was already accomplished hours before she arrived.

P.S. I am going from memory. So, some of my details may not be exactly correct. I initially was very interested in this case because I spent many years in Birmingham and still have many friends and family in the area.

I was thinking there is some goal, like different accommodations for dangerous (to themselves) prisoners. It was convenient that he was found right at breakfast and resusitated. What if he had hung himself at 2 a.m.? He should have signifidant advantages in prison, being very large, knowing at least 3 languages, etc. I did note that right after the fiasco in the usa, they put him 8n a prison near lima at sea level. Warm place with lots of O2. Now according to those links he was transferred to Challapalca, way up at 4,600 meters above sea level. Way high, much less O2 and way cold all year. Maybe he thinks he can get back to Lima somehow.

I guess I don't understand your idea that he was there when she died but didn't kill her. Can you expand upon that?

I have always felt badly for Natalie's parents. "There for the Grace of God"...most parents have let their kids go, testing new almost "adulthood". You can't keep them home, they have to leave the nest.

I remember when my own kids went out, on their own, you just hope that they end up having good experiences with other good kids. Natalie just ended up in the wrong place, at the wrong time, with the wrong people.

i think she got sick, aspirated it and died, then Joran and whoever else was there freaked out and dumped her in the ocean, or took her body to very nearby Venezuela to dispose of, with fisherman or contrabanders.

I feel this even more strongly in 2025. Joran said what BH wanted to hear, to get back to Peru. Laxxer prisons, wife & kid, weekly conjugal visits.

That's an oversimplification of her death, leaving out that Joran slipped GHB into her drink, probably raped her before she died...
