It states about the search in this article.

QUOTE:

"New video of the search shows Giordano accompanying police as they searched the water around where he said Gardner disappeared."

I think this statement makes it pretty clear that they searched. We do see him on the rocks with his suit on pointing to the area where she disappeared and I don't see them not trying to search with whatever daylight was left for them to do so.

"Giordano, 50, called police in Aruba around 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 2 to say that he and Gardner got separated while snorkeling and she never made it back to shore. Video and photos obtained by the AP show him assisting police in a helicopter and boat search of the Dutch island's coastline."

It sounds like they searched to me. jmo

He was reported to be drunk but he was helping with the search?

"One of the police guys told us that he was so drunk that we got to wait, we can't talk to him now," said Silva.

OK, this makes more sense....

Lopez said that in the following days, Giordano assisted with the search
and answered questions from police. He said his client waited until the woman's mother arrived before he decided he should return to the U.S. Giordano says he was given permission to leave by an official at the U.S. consulate on the nearby island of Curacao, the lawyer said.

Yes, that was mentioned in the other article. But we do see GG standing with LE point out to the location where they were suppose to be snorkeling and there was still enough light so I don't see them not doing some searching that evening. The picture of him sitting on the rock was later after the sun went down so what was he doing while they were searching that he suddenly became too drunk to talk. I don't think he was drunk I think he knew his answers were being questioned and were suspicious and he started mumbling to lead them to believe he was drunk. Unless he was permitted to "visit" his car I don't see how you can get drunk 1 1/2 to 2 hours after the fact.

But I will put helicopter searches on my list. I would be interested in what type of equipment they have to search. lol jmo

The sun set at 7:06
That is documented
You have spent as much time in Aruba as I have, you know it gets dark very quickly

I expect when police got there, it was just setting, and I have no doubt some kind of search was done immediately

I understand helicopter , boat and dive searches were done but it still isn't clear to me when they were done

As far as the "drunk" comment goes
I have only seen that attributed to Mr Silva, the witness

DCCG has 3 Coast Guard support centers: on Aruba, Curaçao and St. Maarten. From here, the Coast Guard patrol boats patrol in the waters around the islands. The flying units of the Coast Guard are stationed at the Hato military airbase in Curaçao. The Coast Guard Center / RCC itself is located in Curaçao, the naval base Parera.

AS355DCCG employs a Eurocopter AS355 helicopter for high speed chase, and search and rescue operations. The AS-355 helicopter is stationed at Hato Coast Guard Support Center. On october 14th 2011 the dutch mod announced that the AS355's will be replaced by 2 new AW-139 helicopters by october 2012.

Interesting, I wonder where TE got their information, as this is the only time I have read she was last seen in a bathing suit. Maybe from GG?

Thanks for finding this Dushi. :)

Richard said she hated Pink..But the first reports in the Aruban papers said she had on a pink bathing suit..I would imagine thats one of the reasons why they searched that underground mine that had the pink material in it in that first land search. I don't recall ever seeing a source as to who saw her in a bathing suit (Probably GG)

As I said, unless we find out sooner, I will check it out once I get down there. Not an unreasonable question to ask the authorities since we do go to the eastern coast every visit. What if someone were to fall into the water, what should we do and what type of equipment is available to help rescue someone in that water? Then I have to hope my friend never falls in, lol. You know I've always worried about that happening but never thought about what steps I would take if it did happen. Me, I don't get that close to the edge. My friend is more adventurous but she does get some great pictures. lol

If your friend falls in the water I expect they would use a boat or the above helicopter
As you mentioned, probably wise to wear a life jacket

I think the above information tells us that most S and R equipment is available should it be needed

Google is amazing, isn't it?

Does anyone have any further verification that Robyn's tattoos are permanent, versus the temporary Henna body art type? I believe it was CJ who claimed they are permanent. But then she is also the one who chose to prematurely, imo, donate Robyn's clothes to charity right after she returned home from her trip to Aruba, so I don't necessarily believe everything she has to say. JMO and TIA

Much has been made of Gardner’s heavily tattooed body, but Forester thinks she had beautiful artwork and she was a very delicate at heart.

What would be the point about lying over tattoos?

Let me add by saying, one reason I have for wondering about Robyn's tattoo being permanent, is that it's such a very large tattoo. I know for myself, I would never do something permanent like that, I would get tired of it much too quickly.

Women change clothes, hairstyles, etc., like the wind. Why would a woman of that age, after all Robyn's not a young impulsive 16 or 18 year old, get a large, permanent tattoo that they are going to have to live with the rest of their lives. I just find that hard to believe. :twocents:

For some people , it is a form of self expression
I agree, its not my taste, but it is very popular

BBM. Because this has been pointed out as a reason that she could not live anonymously or be trafficked, because the tattoo would be a major identification issue.

JMO, but if that were the case, I have a strong feeling RF would have pointed that out

But our forms of self expression change continuously as we get older.
