I have a problem with these witnesses for a couple of reasons. What kind of people would witness a man beating a woman in the face and beating her so violently that the car rocked and do nothing? Not call LE, get a license plate #? Terrible.

It also seems that since they were unable to find a body at that location after extensive searching for days and you have witnesses claiming they saw them get into the car and leave we know they did not stay there the whole time. GG's statement is they never left and we know they did so the chances of her cutting her toe on a rock seems like another fabrication by GG. There is absolutely no evidence RG went snorkeling that day and all evidence is to the contrary.

If NE is writing a truthful article about the couple who saw a similar car as GG's at the pet cemetary and asked that NE not reveal their identity, I cannot blame them. Witnesses are too often subjected to background checks and credibility issues because they were arrested for a DUI 20 years ago, received a ticket for jaywalking in the distant past, had some notable messy divorce issues, etc. These issues tend to come out when someone gives their names as witnesses. I would think the witnesses are LE's responsibility as to whether or not they are credible. LE are the only ones in a position to know these people. They did not know GG. Apparently LE felt all these witnesses were credible because they permitted ABC to view a copy of their statements.

One of the things a thief/con artist will try to do is get the attention away from him and focus in another area so he can successfully remove items without being detected. So now the witnesses seeing the car leave and possible witnesses seeing them headed towards the cliffs could lead you to believe GG wanted the attention in the area of Baby Beach because he knew they would not find her there. Plus he certainly wanted to get off that island as quick as possible without detection. jmo

I believe the man yelled at the driver and the driver took off in a hurry up towards the eastern side. Arubans do not interfer with visitors and this was a rental car. Arubans are no different than most of us. Domestic violence is everywhere and not everyone wants to get into the middle of it and become a featured event on the 6pm news. Plus once you are involved people start to look into your background. How did you get here? There does not seem to be a record you came here legally??? There could be a variety of reasons this couple told their story to friends and it got out and why they did not go directly to the police. jmo

Seems RF doesn't agree with NE

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Very briefly. Very briefly, you wanted to respond to the horrific "National Enquirer" report claiming that Robyn might have been buried alive.

FORESTER: Yes. Yes, I mean, the "National Enquirer" has made several different reports that are all incredibly false. First of all, they showed pictures -- false pictures of the two of them fighting. It wasn`t Robyn. It wasn`t Gary Giordano. Secondly, yesterday...

I never read that anywhere

The National Enquirer’s Oct. 10 story quoted an anonymous source who said that two witnesses told police they saw Gardner fighting with her travel companion, Gary Giordano of Gaithersburg, and then saw him bury her alive in a dog grave.

But Stein said police did not hear this from any witnesses.

“That is ludicrous,” he said

“The couple stopped their car, yelled at the man and asked what the hell he was doing. When the man saw them, he started his vehicle and drove off in the opposite direc*tion. The shocked couple drove on to nearby Baby Beach."

The opposite direction at the pet cemetary from Baby Beach would have been up the east coastline. jmo

Thank you
I don't see a link but i assume you did find it as you quoted it

Is this from the NE article?

Does it mention what they did when they got to Baby Beach?

Initial shock, fear? Any number of reasons. They did say they yelled at him out their car window. Maybe they didn't know what else to do. Maybe they didn't have a cell phone. Then when they went back to get the plate #'s it was too late, the car, not surprisingly, had taken off.

It wouldn't be the first time that bystanders didn't intervene when witnessing someone being attacked:

I always read that remark to be in reference to the "buried in a dog grave" portion of the story. He never denied that this situation was entirely false. jmo

I get them not intervening, it could be very dangerous

When did they report this?

My first thought would be to get to the nearest phone, immediately and most local people have phones, but maybe this was a tourist

And whether i was legal or not, I would leave the information, even if anonymously

Do we even know whether or not they notified LE? It would have been a separate report and since GG reported he and RG never left Baby Beach LE may not have made the connection immediately.

I know there was also a report GG and RG had an argument in the elevator at the hotel but that has been proven as false and LE denied it. If there was an argument in the elevator it was not them. jmo

But they didn't get the plate # of the car so they probably believed they didn't have enough information to report. jmo

The NE has certainly had it's credibility issues in the past and has gone through several law suits as a result. But I see no reason for them to go out on a limb and fabricate a story about witnesses seeing a man beating a woman in a white car in Aruba. Besides, much of what they report has turned out to be fact. Just a few examples:

Quotes taken from Wikipedia: National Enquirer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In 2003, the Enquirer published a story claiming that Rush Limbaugh was addicted to painkillers. Law enforcement authorities in Florida later confirmed that Limbaugh was under investigation, and Limbaugh later admitted the addiction and checked himself into a drug rehabilitation facility.

In 2008, the Enquirer reported the marital troubles of Mel Gibson and Billy Joel, both of whom announced their divorces several months later.

In January 2009, the Enquirer ran a story claiming that pop star Michael Jackson was gravely ill and had "six months to live."[25] Just under six months later, in June 2009, Jackson went into cardiac arrest and died in Los Angeles. In September 2009, the Enquirer broke the story of Jackson's final resting place, Forest Lawn. Two months later, just prior to Tiger Woods' auto accident near his Florida home, the Enquirer was the first to allege that the golf great was having an extramarital affair. Shortly after this report, several other women came forward in other publications alleging to have had affairs with Woods, and the golfer eventually admitted to having been unfaithful to his wife.

In February 2011 the Enquirer published a story claiming that Steve Jobs had only six weeks to live due to cancer.[27] Jobs died October 5 of that year,[28][29] more than 7 months after the reports

National Enquirer Now Legit, According to Pulitzer Prize Board

The body behind journalism's most prestigious award conceded Thursday that the self-proclaimed tabloid can compete with mainstream news outlets for its prizes. Because it broke the story about former presidential candidate John Edwards's mistress and love child, the Enquirer's staff is eligible for the Pulitzer in two categories: "Investigative Reporting" and "National News Reporting."

NE most definetly fabricates stories and puts out 100 percent BS at times. Robyn isn't here to sue them so theres nothing anyone can do..This last year between this case and Van Der Sloots most of the stories were fake.IMO

It would be interesting to hear from some of the locals to see if they feel this story is credible. jmo
