Really? It was GG himself that said if it were not for the insurance he would have never been held in Aruba. I find it hard to believe he would use the one thing that would make him the #1 suspect in her disappearance. Then to have called Amex excited, like he "won the Lottery"? If as you and many others believe he is such a "master" criminal---think he would know better, huh!

I can't speak for others but I don't think he is anything like a master criminal. He clearly did not think things through or his story would not keep changing in those small little details which are significant. The insurance is just another bit of the evidence against him but certainly not why they detained him for four months. Mr. Stein said there were just too many discrepancies in his statements compared to what they knew to be facts and eye witness accounts.

What we are trying to do is sort things out to find the truth of what really happened. JB was right. GG gave too many details. jmo

From Wikipeadis: Human trafficking differs from people smuggling. In the latter, people voluntarily request or hire an individual, known as a smuggler, to covertly transport them from one location to another. This generally involves transportation from one country to another, where legal entry would be denied upon arrival at the international border. There may be no deception involved in the (illegal) agreement. After entry into the country and arrival at their ultimate destination, the smuggled person is usually free to find their own way.

While smuggling requires travel, trafficking does not. Much of the confusion rests with the term itself. The word "trafficking" includes the word "traffic," which means transportation or travel. However, while the words look and sound alike, they do not hold the same meaning.

Human trafficking - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Well, so far we have umpteen thousand references to "human trafficking" where it means kidnapping and selling a woman into forced prostitution.

And we have one brief reference where it means smuggling illegal immigrants.

So your insistence that the latter is the most obvious meaning is unconvincing.

OK good

So it does look like two fisherman witnesses

And yes, the fact remains, they did not go into the water based on these witness statements

The question was raised because of the statement about gary being drunk and sent for a nap when photos clearly show him on the beach at that time

as is in the timeline posted on first page

re bold - snipped from Timeline at post #4:

At 6:23 pm on the day of her disappearance, police were called, and 20 minutes later began to search the area. Then, Giordano left the search to return to his hotel and take a nap, according to police. Disclaimer: This claim, at 6.40 GG went for a nap, not true, there are various pics of GG helping the police in the dark, pics where it is completely dark, it takes till 7:30 for it to get dark, so GG was not taking a nap at 6:40, he still was working with the police at least at 7:30.

just pointing out the Disclaimer on the nap thing... :seeya:

Well I for one don't think GG is a "master criminal". I don't think he's bright enough to be. He seems like an entitled, arrogant bully - much like his attorney. Master criminals don't get caught almost immediately and then spend three months in jail concocting a story - they would have their story concocted and bullet proof and rarely see the inside of a jail cell.

He's probably a masterb...sorry, I digress :)

But, even though you doubt it, it's a possibility, is it not? Different strokes for different folks.

I doubt they are taking 35 yr old american tourists and forcing them to work in strip clubs. I think they are talking about young girls from asia or south america who are essentially sold by poor family members and taken advantage of in that way. imoo

http://adventure.howstuffworks.com/pay-for-search-and-rescue1.htm

When it comes to local and state expenses, there have been some changes in recent years. Several states have passed ordinances that allow the county or state to recoup costs associated with rescue, depending on the scenario, and they've done so in some high-profile operations. The states of New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont are all allowed to recover funds, but so far only New Hampshire has made great efforts to do so. The law in New Hampshire had already been in place for about 10 years when legislators changed the language from charging for rescue in cases where the victim was "reckless" to "negligent." Debate has been inevitable because there is no set definition of negligence.

In Europe, you're on your own with costs for rescue, but many outdoor enthusiasts purchase special insurance that covers costs if a rescue is needed.

I wonder if Aruba follows European guidelines?

Aruba does not charge. Their main income is tourism and drownings happen there. It's not in their best interest to charge tourist for missing a loved one. However, just as in the US if they felt someone had deliberately committed a crime they might charge them (which is interesting if that is the conversation which took place with GG's attorney). However I don't think JVS was ever sent a bill for NH considering he admitted being the last one to see her.

It is just interesting that GG was even considering it since he would never have been held accountable if it were an accidential drowning. He had no legal obligation to pay Aruba for the searches. Something to think about. So he admitted to something that, again, makes no sense. I highly doubt that conversation ever took place between he and ML. ML would not tell GG he was legally responsible for an accidential drowning and therefore needs to call the insurance company to see if he is covered.

Everytime GG opens his mouth we get little gems of information. jmo

What if that caring person was also drunk/high at the same time? If it was GG that never came back, would people be ashing RG that same question?

Wouldn't a caring person stop someone who was drunk/high from going into the ocean?

She was not a beneficiary on any policy. And GG did not admit to taking a sleeping pill. That information came from GG not RG. If the situation were reversed and the facts did not match her accounting I'm sure she would be a suspect. jmo

But GG claims that she went snorkeling and went under water and drowned. So how would she end up in the hands of traffickers?

In his most recent interview, alongside Baez, he was asked if he was still going to try and make that ins. claim. And he said he was still considering it.

And nobody I now thinks he is a master criminal. Far from it. Just an arrogant, aggressive, mean one, that so far has been lucky. imo

Drunk/high on "just juice"? :)

It does not matter who put the drugs and vodka into her system. If he admits she was drinking and took some pills the insurance company will not pay the claim off even if it was an accident if there was a clause about drinking/medications. jmo

It seems like someone read the terms of the policy and then the story changed...again. I notice the "exclusive" interviews have stopped, maybe GG or Baez realized that having video documentation of the inconsistencies is not likely to work in their favor.

In the car, for a couple of hours....my guess is it fermented. lol

Entirely possible. Look what the Florida sun does to pizza, it's even stronger in Aruba!!

Probably not. GG was a large Man, and I highly doubt that Robyn (without any weapon) could get the upper hand on hm.

Well, she could have grabbed him by his sneaker laces and pulled up. You can't right yourself in the water if someone is holding your feet in the air. Something I learned on WS's the other day. lol

He said all of that stuff as a defense to murder charges. At that point,he was not concerned about cashing in, just wanting to get away with the murder.

And I never said it was a 'carefully planned' murder. He is a sloppy and haphazard kind of guy.

You know what I wonder about, Mario Lopez said it was Giordano himself who brought up the insurance to ALE. Giordano himself contacted the insurance company August 4, why would he bring it up, and why would he even bother to call them, there is no "cashing in" over the phone, and he was about to go to the States in 2 days, so what was the whole purpose of that?

Was he trying to raise suspicion on himself just like when he informed ALE about the mix of sleepingpills and vodka?
