I agree. It is fine for the kids to support their father. They can go to interviews with him, be supportive. But they do not need to stand up behind him on national television. They are just kids and they do not know exactly what happened. Only what their dad has told them probably.

But the kids need to go to school every day. They do not need to be personally mixed up with this mess by standing up 'in defense' of this mans questionable actions.

I think the worst part is having to stand there while an interviewer is exposing your lifestyle. jmo

Video of interview with fisherman, Sergio Silva

Aruba Mystery: Eyewitness Describes Scene on Beach
An eyewitness who was on the beach the day Robyn Gardner vanished speaks.

So there were a couple of witnesses who saw them and gave statements to police. Mr. Silva said the police did not interview him and that may be because they had enough with the other statements that we given and Mr. Silva could not provide anything new. That would not be uncommon for police to do. jmo

Drunk drivers get into a car and drive because they believe they are not that intoxicated. People who drink often are not a good judge of how much is too much. It has been proven in countless tests where they ask someone to drink a small amount of alcohol and they are given a task to do and they cannot do it. To them they seemed perfectly sober but clearly were impaired. I limit myself to one drink when I do have something which is rare and usually not if I'm driving.

I doubt they just had one drink. Usually serious drinkers take their drinks with them in the car. I'd say they were serious drinkers carrying around their own cups. We see them in the pictures from the night before at the party with their blue cups. jmo

Didn't they each have two bloody mary's when they arrived at the airport for the flight TO Aruba? Their prerogative, of course; they weren't flying the plane.

But GG and RG weren't light drinkers.

He was "driving in the wrong direction" ?

Interesting statement.

Which was the right direction ?

And how do you know he was driving in the wrong direction
?

I would guess because he lives there and would be in a position to know the difference.

What do you mean " what is the right direction' ?

Wouldn't you think they have traffic laws to follow? I assume there is a right direction and wrong direction to drive.

Yep...in lieu of an Egg McMuffin I'd say they were not "casual" drinkers. jmo

Ok I found a link that says she had ambien in her hotel room, as do I when I travel - and that GG said she took one that day LOL. If one has a prescription for ambien it is used for sleep. She's not a teenager stupid enough to drink and thin ambien will get her high...it's a sleeping pill and he's a liar. If I have ONE glass of wine and take a 12 mg ambien, lights are out in 15 minutes. Someone will say, "yabut, Tiger Woods had ambien in his system" - Tiger Woods took his at night as well and was probably not planning on being chased by his wife out of the driveway.

GG and JB are a perfect pair - no doubt they will be friends through eternity.

I've taken ambien in the past and I just want to second vlpate's post. GG's claim that RG took an ambien earlier in the day is very odd.

Ambien does not provide a recreational high (particularly not when taken with alcohol). Why take it unless you are intending to sleep for some time (the directions say at least 8 hours and that's not allowing for alcohol)?

Is GG merely mistaken, or is this something he made up to make RG's drowning seem more probable?

He knows which direction they wanted to go ?

What do you mean " what is the right direction' ?

Wouldn't you think they have traffic laws to follow? I assume there is a right direction and wrong direction to drive.

Looking at the map GG may have been driving closer to the cove side which is not a road but the beach. I'm guessing, of course, but I think that is what he meant and it may have been why he was driving so erratic. jmo

Aruba's traffic laws dictate in which direction people have to travel ?

AAh ! I get it, sorry, it was a one-way road.

Ambien is used to get high
I am not saying Robyn used it for that purpose, but many do....

Your Wiki link does not make recreational use of Ambien sound easy or common, Dushi. At best, it sounds like the resort of (i) teenagers; or (ii) people deprived of other drugs to which they are addicted.

Of course it's possible that RG took an Ambien for recreational purposes, but it still seems unlikely to me. For one thing, your link indicates that recreational users tend to use far more than the recommended dose of one pill. (And isn't that what GG said RG took, one pill?)

It all makes sense now, only one way driving allowed on the beach.

I am sorry for being foolish, I was suggesting how the fisherman happened to know where they were headed to because he said they went in the wrong direction.

Perhaps he spoke to them and they got directions from him.

We have all acknowledged that there are a few reports that have not been substantiated, those by NE, and a couple others. But beyond that, there are some that are by all reports credible, so what is the point of trying to bring discredit to these credible witnesses?

Neesaki,

I think you misunderstood my intentions. I am not trying to discredit credible
eyewitness reports, I merely asked if the "fisherman" witness was substantiated. Apparently he was interviewed by a reporter, but never by LE.

So it is reasonable to ask if he would be considered a "credibly witness".

It's a beach area. There are no actual paved roads down in that area. I think he meant they drove along the cove side which is restricted to people on the beach who are swimming. If you look at the map you can see the southside of the cove with it's sandy area. jmo

And I think its strange to still be fishing at almost dark

Why? Sharks and other predators tend to hunt at sunset. I don't know about Aruba, but in the Sea of Cortez, sunset is the prime squid-fishing time.

Wouldn't the timing of one's fishing depend on what one was hoping to catch?

No. If you google the map for Aruba and check our the Baby Beach area they were out on the outer most portion of the jetty. There is a beach road on the ocean side and a beach area on the cove side. It's a peninsula and you can only go to the end and turn around. On the other side of the road is a beach and they may have come down that way. I believe that is what he is saying. jmo

If his story matched the other witnesses I would say yes, he's credible. jmo
