ATTN: We need everyone to help with the upcoming search for Lindsey this Friday.

I apologize if my post came off as harsh. And I was by no means trying to lump together everyone from McCleary that didn't search. Things happen. People have their own demons, their own issues, health problems, no one to watch the kids, etc. SS, you covered it well. There are many reasons why people wouldn't have made it to the search. And yes, those reasons are perfectly fine. I am in no way criticizing anyone in these circumstances. And by all means, I know that not all people who cared or who wanted to help could do so. Exactly like those of us here at WS. Some people could help, others could not. That's just how it is. But...no one will ever convince me that every person in McCleary except 5-10 had something other than "I don't care" stopping them.

The "right thing to do" is NEVER the right thing to do because any individual or group thinks it is. The "right thing to do" isn't built by opinions or circumstances. Helping people for any reason or cause, isn't the right thing to do because it has special meaning to certain people. It is, because it is. That doesn't mean it's always possible to act on the right thing. And I'm not saying that those that didn't search did the "wrong thing". Clearly not. But that doesn't stop the right thing from being the right thing.

I'm really not trying to start an argument or point any blame. But really, as jvk said, it does hold some value. Yes, it's over and it can't be changed now. But I can't help of think how much more might have been accomplished with more searchers. What one extra clue might have been found.

IMO. And thanks, again, to those that were able to, and continue to, help in any way.

This is NOT directed towards anyone on this board who is in the McCleary area.

While I'm so glad we had 205 searchers this weekend.. I'm angry (no make that pissed off) that very few were from McCleary

Subway and Simpson Door company are amazing companies for doing what they did. But the rest of the town.. well lets just say I have no respect for most of them.

We had searchers come from Oregon (Amber Dubois aunt), California (Amber Dubois mom-she took time out of her own searching to help), Texas (Dawn and Sandy from LRC), Florida (Brad from Klaaskids) Castle Rock/Toutle, Port Orchard, Bremerton, Aberdeen, Hoquiam, Olympia, Shelton, Centralia, Enumclaw, Spokane, Everett, Renton, Seattle. I can't even remember them all...but very few from McCleary. It's a town of 1500 people, if even half would have shown up just think of the work we could have gotten done?

I'd love to hear the excuses as to why the town was bustling with activity yet no one found the time to come search.

Wonder how they'd feel if they were treated like this if something happened to their child.
Shame on you McCleary residents.

I think I'll write a letter to the editor of the local papers.

I am just saying you catch more flies with honey. ;)

I can think of a lot more things that will catch more flies than honey, and none of them are nice.

Opinions are one thing, but the fact remains that the majority of locals appear to shy away from helping in this case. I want to know if the reason behind that has ties directly related to Lindsey's disappearance.

I guess I didn't make my point very clear. If someone writes a letter to the Editor and it is done with encouragement and in a way to make people want to become part of something larger in the spirit of community...instead of saying how awful they are for not showing up...they would be more inclined to decide to help next time. Blasting them will only drive them away and defeat the purpose, imo.

I can't imagine the entire community is involved in any conspiracy to hide Lindsey, hide the reason why she was taken, or to dis her family. The more I learn about McCleary, the less likely I am to believe the people there don't care about a missing child.

A campaign to involve more people by contacting different organizations in town: Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Civic organizations, Churches, etc. Let those organizations help to bring in more searchers in 3-4 weeks. There are many avenues to drum up more support.

Although I thought the people of McCleary were more tight-knit and would show up in droves, this isn't unusual. Maybe those communities that DO show up in large numbers are to be more highly praised? Klaas Kids went to help search for Jennifer and Adrianna Wix and there weren't many locals helping in that case either. Jenn's mom, Kathy, said she's also felt disappointed that locals weren't helping in the annual vigils either. However, this year, for some unknown reason, there was a lot more support in the vigil.

If I lived a bit closer, I would have spent some time helping. I had out-of-town guests and was unable to make the trip.

{{{HUGS}}} and don't be discouraged!

Oh.. I should have noted that I didn't intend to write a nasty letter to the editor. I was just going to write something saying I had hoped that the next search that more of the McCleary population would come out and help.

I just got some bad news via email.

The community center that we used last weekend for the search center isn't available Sept 12 and 13 like we had hoped.

We need a building or something in McCleary where we could set up a command center (preferably permanent but we wouldn't turn down a temp place). Anyone have any ideas on how to find someplace?

A local church has offered a place but it would require MB to purchase a million dollar insurance policy. I don't know the cost for something like that (I'm actually going to contact my father in law when he gets back from his meetings as he might be able to help me find something affordable).

Anyway if anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate if you could throw them my way!

let me rack my brain about a new place

A church wanted a million dollar bond ?? good lord
how is that very christian ? sorry was venting for a sec....

Something to do with not wanting to be responsible if someone got hurt. It's such a sue happy world.. you never know what is going to happen. It's called CYA. Even churches have to do it today unfortunately.

Really Jenn? Ugh. I was afraid this would happen :(

What about Paradise Pizza? They delivered twice on Sunday. The area is big enough.

Just throwing it out there. The owner was so nice and wanted to help.

ok, the places that I know have vacant space possibly available are:

The old next door cafe restaurant
Talk to Helen Lake at Mccleary Realty
Ask Simpson about the union hall or maybe they have another building not in use.

What about the VFW ?
anyone have an insulated heated garage? ... it could work short term

Paradise pizza does have that other room to the right inside the 1st entrance... I think it is theirs

Million dollar insurance policy? Really? I'd like to see the paperwork on that.

It could be they request a person be "bonded" in case anyone was to get hurt on the property or their property were to be damaged, stolen, etc. so they would be clear of a lawsuit. I could be mistaken, but when people get bonded...the bonds usually are high amounts. It could be a misunderstanding.

We only have people who are bonded to do janitorial work etc. Make sense?

Ok well after reading daisy7's post maybe that is the normal amount. That just seems like a rubber stamped response. I am just frustrated.

How strange. Why wouldn't the church have such a policy in place already???

Sometimes our school district allows gatherings in their gym. Can you ask them?

Hi ~

I live in a smaller town than McCleary (550 peeps). We have a small city park that has restrooms, electric hookups, shelters and a gazebo. Does McCleary have such a park?

I'm also thinking a nice motorhome, or travel trailer might be able to serve the purpose. If no one donates something like that, perhaps just the rental of one of those big tents from the local wedding rental place could serve the purpose.

Surely someone has a piece of land either one of those could be set up on and a very long extension cord.

That empty lot of 6th would be a great place.

I have a hunch that if the motivation driving the search for Lindsey from the inner core is a strong as it appears, they can & will make anything work.

Call the Mayor and ask if he has any suggestions. Local Council person? Is the McCleary Fire Dept. voluntary, do they have a space? Be in touch with your State Rep, he would be hard pressed not to try and help and perhaps could make suggestions & or phone calls? Contact The Vignette (sp?) and ask the person that has been covering the Lindsey investigation for a story?

On another note, I sent in a donation to the Reward for Information Fund at the Sterling Bank first thing Monday morning. Would be great to see that amount increased -

Money talks ... It's all about the Benjamins .... However you want to say it - The search for Lindsey Baum needs to remain in the proactive mode that it is in now. A HUGE pat on the back for all of you that are part of that driving force!

I'm assuming the FBI is still up there as I haven't heard differently, anybody know for sure?

xoxo

Part of our problem with outside space is the weather.. wet and cold is going to be happening very soon. We need a place that the searchers can come to warm up in. BUT if we can't find something else I will take my tarps and poles and at least have a dry spot for the maps/paperwork to be kept and the rest of us will be out in the weather.

I will pass on your suggestions and have MB call the places/people you suggested.

thank you for donating to the reward fund.. I would like to see that and the search fund get the bulk of the money as that is where it's needed most to bring Lindsey home.

Where can I get the info to donate?

I know money is needed obviously but are there things that are needed for MB and JB? I can't imagine how she is surviving without working and I'd hate to see her have to go back to work when there are so many things that she has to do to find Lindsey..

Do we have an address that we can send care packages to?

You guys are wonderful and I wish I could be with you but living on the east coast makes it impossible...

I also noticed that someone posted that Dad was to far away to help with the search but that he did enlist some friends to help with the search... That's great.. I'm hoping since you are giving a two week notice that he can come this time or enlist more of his friends to help... I know several people in the guards and they have said that he could probably ask for volunteers in the local guards to help out.. Just a suggestion Dad if you are reading...

God bless you all and I pray everyday that this beautiful girl is found safe...

You can go to findlindseybaum.com and email them from there.. they can probably help you with your questions. I don't know if JB needs anything or not. I'm sure any help people can give will be welcomed.
