I'm sorry I just can't agree that Erin is or was in any way physically attractive. Not that it matters. I just find that hard to move past.

Does prettiness or material comfort have any affect on murderous intent? I'm going to say no.

She apparently was when she was younger. I recall reading that the guys thought she was attractive in her air traffic controller days.

This picture is a bit blurry, but it was taken with her graduating air traffic controller class.

I'm not sure having a different plate is going to be significant incriminating circumstantial evidence however, to your point, it tells me that on the way to hostpital, Heather must have known that Erin wasn't ill. Otherwise why would she be questioning the different plate? That is, if Erin was seriously ill, Heather wouldn't have raised the plates being different.

It probably means nothing but it's kind of interesting.

Was it intended that all of them were wiped out, including her 'ex' ? JMO MOO

Want to understand this relationship with the in-laws. Genuine bond with Don?…shared interests, mutual respect (going to him for advice).

Sounds like they weren’t the primary targets but collateral damage (to hurt Simon?). This is a lot to digest

I was wondering about this... given the sheer unfeasibility of pulling off this crime.

Is it possible she prepared a deadly meal for Simon only and not anyone else, that something somehow became muddled or cross-contaminated.

Obviously she ensured her own portion was clear and that the children and dog had zero contact with any mushroom extract whether it was powdered, boiled, or some form of oil.

We don't really know how she administered this poison. It could have been directly the dried and powdered mushroom cooked into the individual beef wellingtons when preparing them but it may not have been, it could have been sprinkled into the bottom of the plates or drizzled like an oil or some drips of poison served in coffee.

They found the toxins in the leftovers.

Dr Rogers says traces of amanita phalloides mushroom toxins were found on Ms Patterson's dehydrator located at the tip and from leftovers recovered by authorities.

I have to think the plate scenario is fairly irrelevant IMO.
I generally have a smaller plate than my other half (which are not matching for everyday or i have a smaller bowl).
The plate is puzzling and it’s probably irrelevant. My only thought was perhaps she was trying to lose weight and it’s a popular way to reduce your intake by using a small plate.

Attractive is subjective. Objectively, she is not.
Perhaps her charm was. Jeffry Darmer was objectively very attractive. Apparently, so was Manson. It means nothing in this context.

But not on any planet would she be considered by her past or present physical looks "attractive" - let alone "extremely pretty". Just not at all reality based.

Yes, it is subjective. You obviously don't think so, others did. Not everyone has the same taste in "pretty".

Actually pretty is a scientific formula. It is about the golden ratio, and symmetry. None of which Erin has.

Again, it doesn't matter AT ALL. I don't even know why it was raised as a topic - irrelevant for the issue of murder or intent.

But maybe it was LE that stuffed up and accidentally did the factory reset, and then decided it must have been Erin who did it remotely?

Brilliant! And far more likely. If she did it herself, then she must have used something along the lines of the 'lost / stolen' deactivate phone and manufacturers reset technology that protects people's personal data from being used by phone thieves. I guess there was some time delay between LE taking her phone and then formally arresting and detaining her? Or she used her 'one phone call' to ring the mac store LOL. JMO MOO

Because the poster was lamenting on how much EP had going for her, and now it seems ruined.
Why would she do that to herself (if she did do this to herself - and others, of course).

And it's not reality based whatsoever.

From what I consider she had going for her was; her husband was lovely, so were her inlaws. Now they are all dead, other than Simon, who is now bereft, damaged, and a lone victim of the most heinous suffering.

Otherwise, she seems totally devoid of redeeming qualities.

For me personally the plate is damning when you add in the other evidence. It was a clear way for her to tell which plate didn’t have a poisoned Wellington on it.

Also it shows she lied as she originally claimed in her statement that the guests all picked their own plates and she had the plate that was left which is hogwash.

IMO

I think it absolutely "could" have been a way to tell the meals apart.

... but people aren't found guilty of murder with "could haves" or "may haves" or "might bes" ....
Of course not. One little detail like a different size and colour plate, by itself, means nothing.

But added together with the dehydrator with her prints and traces of Death Caps, being driven 15km to the tip, and her four guests being deathly ill while she, her 2 kids and her Labrador were unharmed, all together, that looks bad for her.

If you look at all of the above, it appears that she did put deadly dehydrated mushrooms into her Beef Wellington, so the question is, did she KNOW that she did so. Was that intentional on her part?

And a tiny thing like her plate being the only one that was visibly different from the 4 deadly plates---that makes it look more suspicious, IMO.

And her missing phone. And all of her hidden devices. (what is on them all?)
And her being on the website where people were speaking of where Death Caps were growing. And her visiting two of those sites.
And the unconfirmed cancer to get them all there.
And the "yes, she did forage for the mushrooms" as stated by her lawyer.

It's not looking good. That many "coincidences" all lumped together.

MARITAL STATUS. EX HUSBAND or ESTRANGED HUSBAND?

I recall seeing it reported both ways in MSM and repeated both ways here.
Some ppl may consider it a trivial distinction, but which is it?

Even apart from this trial or any other potential crim charges,
the outcome of civil matters, such as inheritance & estate issues, may pivot on marital status.

Hi there I am new to this thread! So hi everyone.
I am completely perplexed by this case. Why would she do this ? In the circumstance that Simon may have come for the lunch did she rationally believe she would be able to poison him and his parents and uncle and aunt and get away with it?
Why? It cannot be for financial reasons as we have come to understand. It could only be a deep seated rage or hate for some reason.
Even that is a fair stretch to pull off .
There has to be another element to this story IMO - perhaps one we have not seen yet.

The video katydid23 - is it genuine or crocodile tears? On first watch I had to think she was genuine. But all her other actions just do not make sense. At all.

For a while, I had a working theory that she'd been set up to look as if she'd poisoned the family when in fact it was someone else framing her.

I even wondered if the whole group could have in fact ingested the DC mushroom poison via a different method - something they all shared prior to attending her home or after leaving it.
Or whether the poison was inside a dessert (maybe gifted by the absentee guest) or foodstuffs had been tampered with by a third party and it was just sheer coincidence that EP didn't eat any dessert.
However, her subsequent actions seem to indicate that indeed EP attempted to cover up tracks of having dried out deadly mushrooms and had also badly lied in order to get the group together.

Estranged.

Some earlier articles said they were legally separated (we discussed it forever) but it now seems that the 'legal separation' classification may come in because they were separated for over a year. So Simon's accountant put 'separated' on his tax return.

We also now found out that EP wanted Simon's name off two properties they owned, and on one different one instead. So there were some property divisions being discussed.

imo

I think she was attractive in her younger years, especially if you factor in her wit and intelligence and feminine curves?

A former colleague of Erin Patterson has revealed a snippet of her past, describing her as “eccentric” and “abrasive” during her time as an air traffic controller in the early 2000s.
