Mistake or murder? Unmissable moments from mushroom trial day 2

Ah thanks.

See what concerns me about this is that unless there were traces of DC mushrooms verified in EP's beef wellington, how do we know for certain she hasn't been set up / framed and one of the desserts was poisoned.

If there's people out there who knew for sure she was drying out foraged mushrooms and even playing around with drying out DC mushrooms and toying with the idea of poisons herself, they'd know she'd be blamed.

I seem to recall it was said EP had lodgers or paying guests maybe? There could have been other adults in the environment? Or there could have maybe been some unidentified persons with malicious intent out to get her for reasons we don't know about. Was the cake store bought or home made?

Am just putting some far out ideas here... it's not looking good for EP is my main thought!

I read it up-thread here somewhere - I know this for sure as I haven't followed the case anywhere else. I guess it must have been Ian's (survivor's) account - how the two of them ate their full meal and one of them only ate half and gave their other half to Don and afterwards they all said how much they'd all eaten. Will try and locate an account of this if I can.
Another link:

After the main meal, the group tucked into a dessert of cake and a fruit platter, brought by Gail and Heather

I think that is what gets to me, too.

No ... "OMG they all fell sick! And I felt a bit sick too. I foraged some mushrooms and used them. I hope the mushrooms were okay."

Then it may truly have been an accidental poisoning, if she had actually lifted a finger to help the doctors in their diagnosis.

We have read of accidental mushroom poisonings (in our prior research) and no-one was charged with murder.

I'm still holding a space that it could have been accidental and that some people are so panicked and obstinate that even in such horrific circumstances, they double down on their denial and cover up which makes it a thousand times worse for them and then no-one would ever believe them.

There would have been people online that knew more intimate aspects of her life.

Living in the house? No. Online? I think yes.

I wonder if Erin’s best friend will testify in the case. IMO.

Well, there were definitely traces of poison on the dehydrator.
(Even though we have conflicting reports about poison in the leftovers.)

I would imagine that the police have cancelled out any potential outside interference. They would have had to.

Otherwise the defence would jump on that, and all the defence is currently saying is "yes, she foraged ... but it was an accident". Which is actually the smartest defence manoeuvre, in this case. imo

No adults in residence, but a couple of minors whom she'd been pranking by adding powdered mushroom to their muffins and what-not without their knowledge or consent.

Seeing as the defense conceded that Erin foraged the mushrooms and traces of death cap mushrooms were found in the dehydrator along with her fingerprints it’s awfully compelling to conclude that it was Erin herself who poisoned the lunch.

But yeah, it’s a far cry from saying Erin did it deliberately… but there’s an awful lot of other circumstantial evidence. Right now it’s not looking good for her IMO.

I wonder how long it took before she admitted foraging the mushrooms to her lawyers. I’m pretty sure they couldn’t have released that false statement knowing it was a lie.

I hope the jurors understand that reasonable doubt means what a reasonable person would conclude based on the evidence.

Indeed - when I read that, it did make me wonder if she'd been micro-dosing the children with tiny amounts of poison for some bizarre reason.

Also, in general, why was she adding dried mushrooms to the children's brownie recipe? Are mushrooms supposed to be particularly nutritious?

Was EP using various human beings as experiment guinea pigs in her mushroom experiments ?

Maybe she did intentionally add powdered mushrooms to the victims' food but with a completely different intention?

For example, if she was the sort that 'believed in unicorns', perhaps she was studying ancient lore or witchcrafts etc and believed she was performing some type of beneficial ritual, not intended to kill or harm, say something like casting a magic spell using certain ingredients. Maybe to win them over to her point of view regarding the break up and division of property or suchlike? At least that type of explanation would make some sense?

Set up? Framed? By whom?

I have never seen anything about lodgers. Have you got a link to that?

How do you explain her lying about a fake cancer diagnosis to get them over for lunch?
Do you think this is a good indicator that Erin is not a truthful and credible person, so anything else she says such as "not guilty" should be viewed with caution?

Simon cancelled his attendance at the lunch the night before.
Just marking that time frame here.

Despite initially accepting an invite, Simon said he changed his mind, and at 6:54pm the night before, sent the following text message to Erin:
