RB&SBM for focus. Just in case you weren't aware, a photo was released through SAPOL on the afternoon of Thursday Oct 2, 2025, about 5 days after Gus went missing.

With respect: What is your point? Like, can you add more context to your post? Do you have a viewpoint?

Right.

Many reasonable people are not of the opinion that this timing is suspicious.

MOO
Tbh I've really found it impossible to discern whether particular things in this case are suspicious or not (the delay with the photo, the family's extreme privacy, etc), purely because the setting and the family's way of life are so unlike anything I've ever experienced. I'm from the UK and have never been outside of Europe, so even the sheer vastness of Australia itself is kind of impossible to comprehend

ETA obviously with hindsight they seem suspicious, but I didn't necessarily find them so at the beginning

Even in hindsight, things don't seem overtly suspicious. It is not even clear which grandparent may be a suspect.

But it seems likely that there are things that the police know that the public does not know.

imo

Both of those are the case for me as an Australian too.

Me too. It definitely hit me after the discussion about being no point in releasing Gus’s picture because it was just so unlikely he’d been taken. And then seeing the images of the surrounds really hit home that yeah no one was around there.

I think floor boards sounds more posh than concrete.
Ours was a concrete base, not a long drop.

The dunny man came regularly to take the pan away and replace it with an empty one

Ours had a door.
We were out bush. But later when we moved to town, the dunny man would arrive weekly to empty the can. In town we had a door.

ADMIN NOTE:

Members have previously been asked to move on from the discussion of the Daily Mail reporter / Josie fiasco. It has been discussed at length earlier in this discussion, and other than disagreement among members, it serves no purpose other than to provide members with a reason to bicker about it. It is in no way helpful in finding out what happend to little Gus.

If you want to see what other members had to say about it, please go back through the thread to read posts that may be of interest. We just can't have pages and pages of disagreement and debate that adds nothing to the discussion.

On Wednesday,

In short:

The four-year-old was reported missing in September last year.

What's next?

Quote from my link above:

"Police have returned to the last place

What does it exactly mean?
"the last place he was seen"

Does it mean literally:
the pile of sand/dirt in the yard?

🤔

And seen by whom?
SM?
At 5 pm?
(as according to original report)

Or does it mean
property in general?
And seen by Mum or others (plural) for the last time?
The last indisputable proof of life?

I'm not sure how to understand this info.
I guess Oak Park Station in general, no?

Police say they are searching several locations at Oak Park Station, in SA's north-east, for evidence in the case.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought your family were neighbors of Gus’ maternal grandparents based on the phrasing. My bad.
I don’t think they are. IMO

I am still a bit worried about that toilet with the fresh concrete around it at the neigbouring property. Yes I know it was checked out, even with sniffer dogs. These drop toilets can be very deep (I grew up with one). I well remember the time when one of the cats jumped up onto a family member's lap just as they stood up! And down it went. There was a hole at the back covered by a slab of concrete, which was removed, a ladder was placed down into the pit, and poor pussy was eventually coaxed up with a piece of meat tied onto a piece of string. I remember my poor mother had to give poor puss a bath. But I digress.
I don't like to say it, but if a body was down there, then it would soon/eventually (depending on usage) be covered, and dogs might only be able to smell one thing.
(Brought forward by me.)
I wonder if LE read my comment and are checking out that toilet again?

The Advertiser has published a little about what Detective Inspector Andrew Macrae said about this current search.

(paraphrased)

The recent significant weather event (flooding rains) leads them to assess what other opportunities for searching may arise.
But this current search is part of the planned searching - one of the searches that the commissioner said would happen when he said they would be re-attending Oak Park Station regularly.
The police can't say what they are looking for in this search.

This pic is from today’s news, but not sure if the pic was taken today. The wording makes me think it is today though.
