Australia AUSTRALIA - 4YO AUGUST (GUS) Missing from rural family home in Outback, Yunta, South Australia, 27th Sept 2025

This is just a poor example of Daily Fails failures. They should be 100% able to write the correct information, but it appears Jonica Bray can't nor the editor that looked over this article, that was printed yesterday in regards to Phoebe's mum.

The young boy was last seen by his grandmother, Josie Murray, at 5pm playing on a mound of dirt.

I noticed it, too. The local newspaper (The Advertiser) has stated again and again (and again) that it was Shannon who was at the homestead with the children at the time.

How on earth has the family been able to continue managing the work there, the sheep etc. It's hard daily work keeping ahead with the chores and sheep on such a huge property. It's been three weeks. Have they had any help?
Yes they were described as stoic....in front of others but no doubt they are suffering privately.

I would think that the local community is rallying to help them. I was looking at the Yunta District Hall FB page last night. (I think this may be the community centre that Gus' father helped build.)

Looking at their photos, it seems that there are race meetings, cricket games, children's play sessions (run by RICE - Remote & Isolated Children's Exercise) as opportunities for the families to get together. No doubt there are some with closer personal relationships than others, considering the generations who may have lived in the area and/or who lives closer to each other.

imo

Gus' dad built the Yunta Community Centre, and the family is involved with the local race club. Link

We don't know what Jess is wanting or needing or how she is coping, so it would be wrong to make any kind of assumptions about that. And we don't know what Josh is doing or why. The details of how he spends his time have not been reported, so again, we cannot make assumptions about what he is doing and why. For all we know he could be in constant communication.
My thoughts too. In times of tragedy people usually put past arguments, feelings aside to come together and support each other. Its quite likely Gus's Father is still at the Station searching. I cant imagine that he searched for just one night then left.

Police complete latest phase of search for missing four-year-old Gus

17 Oct 2025 1:07pm

“Police have today concluded a renewed search of Oak Park Station for four-year-old Gus Lamont who was last seen late on 27 September 2025.”

“The ground search undertaken this week by SA Police, ADF members and SES volunteers at Oak Park Station extended to a 5.5km radius from the homestead. This equates to 95 sqkm searched on foot.

The original search area extended well beyond this with the use of the mounted operations unit and Polair. This area has been estimated at 470 sqkm.

Police had been hopeful the extensive ground searches would uncover any evidence of Gus, but this has not been the case.”

“The family of Gus Lamont have continued to cooperate fully with police and are being supported by a victim contact officer.

The search of Oak Park station has been methodically planned and executed by experts in this field. The search has been reviewed by senior officers not involved in the operation and subject to constant reviews to ensure completeness.

Further searches of the property will be considered in future as Task Force Horizon investigations continue.”

Re DM. I was tracked down by DM for a comment made on Google reviews. DM found another review I had left for a great tradie years earlier. DM phoned the tradie, the tradie phoned me and I phoned the journalist back.
I was also approached by DM after making a comment on a news report on social media. I chose to decline, but I can just imagine how they would have twisted my words to suit the narrative. They're good at finding a way in, a so called "scoop" just for click bait.

Here are 2 clips from DM reporter Karleigh Smith senior reporter. They are both a pretty good run down of what has happened, but also have some good aerial views of the property.

First 1 uploaded 13th October

Second uploaded 16th October

Imo there has been no mention (perhaps they adequately told DM to p#ss off, but I doubt that would stop a story)

My hinky meter is currently wobbly.. . nothing feels ‘adequate’ to me, and I don’t know if that’s even the right adjective.

I get there’s disharmony between Josh & a Grandma - but surely circumstances such as this outweigh those differences.

It baffles me that Jess wouldn’t be wanting / needing the support of her reported partner and father of her missing child (+ one ) Similarly it baffles me that Josh isn’t there with her. He’s reported to have searched one night early on, but he’s not stayed around to be of support to Jess or on hand for any bit of information.

Little Gus should be enjoying the blissfully happy & innocent days of childhood. Wherever he is now, my thoughts and prayers are with him in his journey.
I've been in crime threads for while @Warshawski and I don't recall your hinky metre going off before.

This actually disappoints me.

Until Pheobe went missing, her mother & family were unknowns (like most of us) but seems (IMO) that they’ve become front page ‘celebrity news’ at the expense of Pheobe’s passing.

I have no problem with them reaching out to support others e.g. Gus’s family, but my question is - how does the Daily Mail know about it ?

Given how silent & private Gus’s family have been, I struggle to see them being the mouth piece for this, who knows.

Am now wondering what the DM pay rate is ?

Yeah well, no use to me as I have absolutely nothing of interest to spill 😜
Phoebe's mum Kylie Johnson wrote an open letter to Gus' family on her public Facebook page.

She intended to publish it to a wide enough audience to get to Gus' family.

The Daily Mail doesn't pay for tips, not does News Corp or I imagine any other MSM outlet.

The reason they don't pay for tips is that it is unethical and major journalist competitions won't allow entries that do not follow this criteria. So say if you've written a brilliant article and your wanting to win a Walkley you have to agree to an undertaking of journalistic integrity and that includes not paying for tips.

"Walkley Awards for Excellence in Journalism are presented annually in Australia to recognise and reward the best in the craft. Finalists are selected by eminent journalists and photographers and overall winners judged by the Walkley Judging Board."

The only producers who pay are the Spotlight / Current Affairs type shows that run the TV interviews.

Awhile back I saw this event mentioned once by a poster elsewhere, and it hasn't been brought up since. That in the nearby town of Yunta there was a car rally being held the weekend of Gus's disappearance. Just an interesting point. Log into Facebook re. Lunchbox Rally an annual big event.

I think it actually arrived in Yunta 2 days after Gus disappeared (29th September). It was the Arkoola Station (further north) to Yunta segment of the rally.

Oh ok, I just thought alot of people in that event and one possibility if they were around right on the day of Gus's disappearance.

Yes there was a rally that stopped overnight in Yunta. But their journeys never went anywhere near Oak Park Station nor were they in Yunta until the 29th September. Gus went missing 27th September.

They took off from Arkaroola on the 28th September heading for Yunta arriving on 29th September. 30th September left Yunta to head to Broken Hill.
