Can we please refrain from assuming a person that is under enormous stress must have a violent temper because she raised her voice while harassed? Her grandson is missing, for Pete's sake.
Yes, you are right. I was relying on this post and the second video it refers toThat's incorrect. Can you please provide a link to support your assertions?
Agree. I have never seen Josie actually pointing the rifle directly at the reporter. And I have watched that video many times. That’s an edited series of photos with flashing and breakaway video effects and stupid dramatic music. It tells me nothing except I can’t trust this “reporter.”
I saw the upside down video that shows nothing except the “reporter” is a poor videographer and she was being told repeatedly to get out. I saw nothing that shows Josie was waving a gun at her or any of the other allegations made against her. The only thing getting waved around recklessly was the camera. I’ve seen drunken Sasquatch cams that are better quality.
These people have been repeatedly harassed, there’s no evidence they harmed Gus, the public has been told to stay away, if the family has something to say they know who to contact, the police and other authorities are working on the case. There’s no reason for this borderline stalker to keep pestering them.
Can you link the actual footage of a gun being pointed directly at the reporter? So, do any of the commenters here actually own guns? And have gone through gun licensing etc?
I'm asking because one of the first and most basic rules you are taught is to never point the muzzle at anything you don't intend to kill. The muzzle should never point (even momentarily, during a change of position) towards another person.
Like, basically if you are going to change the position of the gun from pointing at the ground to pointing up in the air, you need to be sure that the entire arc of the muzzle is safe.
Same!Oh I really need the FOC *vomit* button on this thread and others !
My guess is no, they can't!Can you link the actual footage of a gun being pointed directly at the reporter?
I mentioned it yesterday in this post. I link to the video at a timestamp where you can see the gun arc where it points at the camera holder (I assume the photographer). It's easy to miss, if you play it at 0.25x speed you'll see it at around the 3:54 mark. It's not a point and hold, it's a change of position which arcs directly towards the camera operator. Can you link the actual footage of a gun being pointed directly at the reporter?
It amazes me how a 30-second video has convinced so many people that this grandparent is a terrible person.I'm fascinated by how our personal reality and life experience dictate our reaction to the way a grieving and stressed grandparent responds to intrusive members of the media who ignore repeated requests to stay away.
Many of you know I'm a former newspaper editor. I would have respected this family's request. And if one of "my" reporters insisted on ignoring that very public request, I would have suggested perhaps they should consider working for a less reputable newspaper. There will always be tabloid journalism because there is enough public demand for it. But that doesn't mean it's right. And it certainly doesn't mean we shouldn't push back and expect professionalism, ethical behavior and basic common decency. There are other ways to break a news story...if there's a story to break.
Yes I truly feel sorry for them and they would be in so much pain.It amazes me how a 30-second video has convinced so many people that this grandparent is a terrible person.
Is anyone really looking at the bigger picture here? This family has been living through the worst possible nightmare for the past month. Their entire world has been turned upside down. Sleep wouldn’t come easily—and when it did, it would likely be filled with bad dreams, only to wake and face the same ordeal all over again. We all know how sleep deprivation affects your emotional state, making anyone more impatient, reactive, and irrational.
And let’s not forget the family’s understandable distrust of the media, especially given the sensationalised coverage we’ve seen. The Daily Mail in particular has stooped even lower by publishing social media theories as if they were facts.
The journalist involved has shown a clear lack of integrity in my opinion—she was trespassing and had already been warned, along with others, to stay off the property.
I sincerely hope the family takes action against her. I know I would, given the song and dance she’s made about the encounter.
.
J. Bray's "Pulled" a gun on me is a complete falsity.mooCan you link the actual footage of a gun being pointed directly at the reporter?
So are you implying that the grandparent had to accommodate the journalist who was trespassing?Yes I truly feel sorry for them and they would be in so much pain.
If it was just a verbal anger outburst, I don't believe people would be so wound up about it. But unfortunately it was a verbal angry outburst with a gun in a hand.
You can see Josie walking along the verandah so she had more than enough time to put that gun down before the verbal confrontation took place.
No not at all, I'm just simply saying maybe the gun should've been put down before a verbal altercation took place imoSo are you implying that the grandparent had to accommodate the journalist who was trespassing?
agree to disagreeNo not at all, I'm just simply saying maybe the gun should've been put down before a verbal altercation took place imo
In relation to your first comment re people making negative assumptions about Josie, moo it seems that a victim of this tragedy under extreme emotional stress for over a month, waiting to discover if her grandson's body is to be recovered from a dam, is to be judged for expressing legitimate anger at a disrespectful and unethical intrusion by standing up for herself. Why couldn't she be just be 'nice', lol.So are you implying that the grandparent had to accommodate the journalist who was trespassing?
It does not matter whether the gun was loaded or not.I don't think the gun was even loaded. In the DM's Tik Tok video that I posted earlier (the video has now been taken down and the link I posted is now invalid) you could see the ammunition in Josie's other hand. I could see the brass ends of it.
Even in the video that is still available on the DM's YouTube channel, you can see Josie's other hand wrapped around something (the bullets).
I think she may have exhibited an empty rifle to scare the trespassers, and it worked.

It's not acceptable at any point, whether loaded or unloaded, to direct the muzzle of a firearm at another person, whether held in position or while changing position.
Rule number one on all of the sources below is... Treat every firearm as loaded

Why are they deleting videos I wonder??I don't think the gun was even loaded. I could see the brass ends of it. They actually showed a close-up of it.
