Very normal to obtain legal representation to act on your behalf, legally, as per our rights we don’t have to comment or speak to police beyond confirming our id, and every lawyer would encourage you to invoke this right
100%
At the same we would have be careful not to obstruct the police / the investigation

Every so often it helps to switch your assumptions or give them a little shake up :) Like many (most?) people, I assumed the first person who withdrew cooperation was Josie - but what if it was Shannon. The discrepancies might have been in her story of the day’s timings. Then, while at the police station, a chat with Josie revealed to her that the police knew certain things and that she, by continuing to cooperate, could give them info that could either get Shannon in trouble or herself or the both of them. Maybe a line of questioning became uncomfortable. So Josie too withdrew cooperation?

I’m not saying that’s what I believe happened, just giving assumptions a shake to create other thoughts :)

All speculation and MOO.
As ive said before, both lawyered up. Their lawyers would have told them to say nothing. You dont lawyer up, then talk. Nothing sinister about it. That's their right in Australia.

True but it was the way one was said to not be cooperating then the other a few days (?) later. Both were reported to have engaged lawyers at the same time as far as I can recall.

“I’m predicting if they are responsible for Gus’ disappearance there would be no commemoration or care shown. IMO”

Very sad if so @Ellery84 😔
(Greened by me) Hide me under a sheep carcass and then let the eagles scatter my bones--rather than have the family who killed me turn me into a sacred site where they can sentimentalize over what great caregivers they were.

But sheep are silly, flighty creatures, and not only do they panic easily, they can drop dead from the fear when startled, including by loud noises.
And iirc they can spontaneously miscarry lambs as well when in a panic.

I don't know. One thing I have read here on WS is that sometimes somebody committing murder or manslaughter of someone close to them will actually add something like a blanket to the body, whereas if it's a complete stranger burying or hiding the body, they won't. To me that would be some care shown. But JMO.

And not a major point of argument either. I'm just hoping that Gus is found and brought home at all, for the sake of his parents.

Could be care, could be to assuage their own guilt @seasideForest I think it would depend too on whether the death was accidental. I can’t imagine a deliberate death would be given any care.

And now he is complaining about the media attention after willfully making a post 2 days ago on a facebook group for Gus that apparently has journos in it.

If you don't want the attention , than don't talk in the first place IMO
Why post in the first place & not just go about your own business. I think it was a very foolish thing to do in a very active major crime investigation & than cry foul when it goes pear shape.

JMO

I'm sorry, but I don't understand why you even raise the topic of DV. It's never been reported in msm. It's about as useless as the snake and shotgun theory.

Let's move on Justice for Gus.
not the comment youre replying to but the mention of DV makes sense just due to the statistics. I havent seen anyone say this family is for sure a DV situation but I think anyone who knows anything about Australian domestic violence stats would understand why its being suspected. I actually think its suspected for almost every violent crime or disappearance i've seen here tbh and added with that the isolation, rural location, guns and observed disposition of the family, those things surely only heighten that probability. Definitely not saying I know for sure or even necessarily think its most likely, but it absolutely makes sense to suspect.

I agree with @BreakingNews. There is no indication and I don’t think it’s fair to suggest.

agree to disagree, I dont see anything unfair about mentioning the possibility of something supported by stats from the area

Paywalled
Does anyone have a sub & can summarize please

Just clickbait really, as usual with the DM. It says Josie's mother was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her service to the community and Josie's father was celebrated as a war hero.
The rest is just what's been in articles before.

Thank you. Shannons father was considered a "war hero" - wonder if they have that right
