Spooks or Anoshka, if Amesha was using a different version of her first name do you have any idea what it might be?

I am completely unfamiliar with Sri Lankan culture, so have no idea.

Presumably they have checked those cars that park along the fenceline .. for dents in the bonnet/boot and or footprints ...

 • #203
I think they have quite a long name..that might be the short form..because of the rain I haven't been going out to the park..if I know anything further, I'll let you know..<modsnip>...manesha is not on FB, how's that possible?! :o all of us migrants have it to keep in touch with relatives..

First names are usually not that long. The surnames can end up with half the alphabet.

I've been trying to guess the "original version" of the name without any luck. But chances are that the local media in SL will be trying the same and they will publish it the moment they find the connection. Like I said, the lankan community is firmly connected and also has no regards for the privacy of others or anything, so something will leak out very soon...

Googling "Rajapakse" won't help either, since it's probably the most published name in the country thanks to the political families here. Similar to Ghandis of India. It's sometimes spelled Rajapakshe and Rajapaksha

Manesha, Ranesha, Ganesha, Aneshani, Aushuni, the possibilities are endless. I've heard of a "Keerthani" whose idea of a shortened name was "Kate".

But if she did attend University, and was employed in Sri Lanka before, chances are that her story will be out on the local papers soon.

Some people use Google Plus now instead of FB ... Amesha is probably one of them, according to what I have seen. Not that anything is public on the account.

 • #206
Google+ still has internet visibility.

The other explanation is that family gave out her second name to the police\media. And he could have given out his second name as well. It's legal and it might be something you do when there is a murder+press involved.

I found some amesha with the same surname but the profile pic was of a man!

I'm going all crazy trying to figure out what she looked like..she lived so close..we have common park where everyone come and spend some time together ..I must have seen her , said hello, anything! Why can't they show us her photo so that I at least know she's not somebody I know. How sad :( I might sound stupid not knowing my own neighbour but there are hundreds of them! Aww..

Anoshka, the manager of the complex might know a little more now. I think the residents have a right to know, I think I'd be asking him if you should be concerned. I wonder if he has had instructions not to concern the residents.
I suppose the brother & father are still living there.

So many people in that complex you couldn't possibly know everyone.
Your knowledge of the complex is invaluable, thank you.

Did you find that on FB Anoshka?

Yup..call me crazy but I just quickly went to my visitors car park..just like amesha's building all the others ones have exact same visitors car parks surrounded by trees and a creek..I saw signs plastered on all our side creek walls ' danger' ( it further explained that when there's a heavy rain, there is a danger of flooding).. Wouldn't she have read those instructions before climbing the fence, assuming that she did.., it has been raining heavily)..

hard-to-get to area on the other side of a large wall.
Who or what was Amesha hiding from to go to those extremes?
Coincidently the creek is swollen, we now know there are signs warning of the danger, it's a hard to get at area on the other side of a large wall? WT?
Is the 'large wall' a concrete retaining wall leading down to the creek with no way of climbing back up?

If she died trying to escape someone- that's murder!
That would be the same as Warriena Tagpuno Wright jumping from a balcony to escape someone she feared.

Lankan found dead in Sydney.-Video
FRIDAY, 29 AUGUST 2014 - 19:19 |HIRUNEWS

She was reportedly found with a scarf around her neck in a swollen creek in a hard-to-get to area on the other side of a large wall.

Police were awaiting a post-mortem report to determine if Amesha’s death was suspicious.

Have read the posts of the past day with interest, especially from those with closest local knowledge.
If that creek or 'underpass' are so hard to access and there are signs on walls etc, if just floors me even more that the brother would think of looking there himself and, lo and behold, find Amesha in that very place.
Taken at face value, if she did not return from buying butter and milk, wouldn't you assume she might have had an accident, been hit by a car etc etc - and perhaps called the hospital or something?
For the brother to look there in the creek, first thing in the morning, indicates to me that he must have been quite familiar with that spot himself. And what does it infer in relation to Amesha's fate? It seems like an unlikely place for someone, who was not familiar with the complex, to take Amesha to. At first I thought the brother might be suspecting Amesha had sought to end her life, and had looked there for that reason (even though, indeed, there might have been more straightforward ways for her to commit suicide). Yet he tells media that she seemed happy...
As for him making that blood curdling scream ... Doesn't sound like the usual reaction of a man, somehow. It's like he wanted the world to know he'd just 'stumbled across' something that was, to him, horrifying.
And back to that thing about the gift cards. I appreciate that English is his not his first language and that the intention of some of what he says may get skewed through media reports etc, but what's the significance of buying milk with gift cards? Why would you even mention that? Was the family in financial trouble, to the extent that they did not have a few dollars between them to buy milk and butter with? You can go to Coles and buy whatever little you want and still put it on a credit card, if you don't have the cash...
One poster earlier on mentioned the possibility of a secret affair coming into play. That thought had crossed my mind, too, but I didn't know how to reconcile that with the goings on of that evening. If you wanted to meet up with someone for a tryst, you'd think it'd take you longer than the time it takes to buy milk and butter?!
I'm sure the police know much more than they are letting on. For starters, whether the brother has an alibi and when he came home from work, and whether or not Amesha had the car at her disposal or the brother had taken it to work.

Also ... if the blood-curdling scream was at 5:30-6:00am, according to the building manager, what was going on until 7:30am when the first responders showed up?
Emergency facilities – fire, police, ambulance – are all about 5 minutes away, according to Google.

There seems to be a big time delay imo.

BTW Xantara .. I listened to that video again. You were absolutely right .. the building manager did say that he thought Amesha had something on her mind just because she was pacing up and back. He did not leave anything open to question there (like crying or nail biting). Sorry. I was wrong.
