Hmm... Busy week for HP fans in Nannup. The mind reels...

I found a couple of things in the telegraph about Nannup Hotel events. I need to review the doco but it did say Chantelle worked here also. Doco also mentioned how Simon was very jealous of this particular gig.

So she had 3 part-time jobs:
Fish and chips
Swimming lessons
Nannup Hotel

How does that affect Centrelink payments (assuming the payments are for Leela)?

If she worked full-time and made enough to live above the poverty line would she still get them?

I wouldn't be surprised if she worked for cash. Not reporting income to Centrelink. Many small businesses used to get away with paying cash off the books. Saves them paying workers compensation insurance and payroll tax and the workers get to fiddle Centrelink..
Nowadays it'd be much more difficult, as Centrelink is a wake up to these scams.
Also she could still get a partial supporting parent payment and health care card if she only worked 3 days a week and earnt less than a threshold amount. She would still get a smaller family assistance payment (different thing) for Leela anyway. The health care card on it's own is worth a fortune in discounted travel, utility rebates, cheap medicines, bulk billing (free medical treatment), cheap government housing or rental assistance payments and anywhere that offers pensioner discounts. It would've been worth it for the group to fiddle Centrelink under Gary's orders if his books didn't sell.

The Nannup Telegraph is a very interesting local paper.

It might be worth delving through. Here are the sort of articles you’ll see:

Water Corporation's Nannup Bore 1-07 are associated with location IDs 60900187 and 60900193 on the Dept of Water data server groundwater map. They were both drilled in November 2007, only one was completed (I suspect). Nearly zero free publicly-available data. The other two wells north of Rinns (Thomas) are household/ domestic wells.

The large water tank on the upper left quadrant of the Google Earth image correlates to this well location. This well is part of the Bridgetown Regional Water Supply Project.

Yep. Close indeed. However, I honestly don't see how the presence of one nearby public supply well would devalue one's property unless the wells are completed in the same aquifer and the cone of depression from the public supply well pulls the water below ones pump. (It happens, thus we have production-associated spacing rules). It can be expensive to deepen a well. I have not yet determined the aquifer or the pumping volume so am unable to confirm or invalidate. Another day perhaps.

Turns out this was not drilled for the notorious evil grab for Perth municipal supply but I have noticed that WaterCorp is proceeding more at a slow creep. Shire of Nannup continues to be concerned that any potential local Yarragadee pumping could be detrimental to Blackwood River base flows. This issue has been voiced at recent stakeholders meetings. I don't have the link at the moment and it's not particularly relevant to the case at hand.

Perhaps lot 62 was desperate to sell for reasons that extend beyond what was broadcast on the interwebz. Paranoia would be my first guess.

I'lol see if there's any evidence of the Sir_Laughs_a_Lot post that describes lodging a complaint over missing the logging allocation meeting and thus about revaluation of his business and it's sale.
At least then we might have an idea of whether the blogger's accusations of the cult stealing his mail is based upon any fact or is just made up.
In the meantime I google the previous owner's surname but haven't found anything in at Agriculture Department databases associated with a farm in Nannup as blogged about on the hunting forum.

Yes IIRC they did stay at Denmark in Western Australia after traveling from Victoria and before moving to Nannup.

Just makes me wonder if Sir_Laughs_a_Lot had relatives in Denmark and crossed paths with the cult earlier than stated in his posts? Seems to go from not knowing them, to blaming them for buggering up his business in a later post. He's all over the place in what he's said regarding his familiarity with the missing group.

I concur. I think previous posts describing his state of mind are accurate. It is now just a case of how dangerous is/was this individual around the time of the disappearance. Maybe it is time to bring them over to the thread for some questioning. Perhaps the POI is a gentle family man with a bit of time on his hands.

As reported in Hansard on 17/11/2010 the water bore on Thomas Rd in Nannup is only supplying 5 mega litres per day, but has the capacity for supplying 10 to the Bridgetown Regional Water Supply Scheme

Thanks, petedavo. 5 mega litres is about a 900-1000 gpm well. Bore. Nice well! This production rate sounds like Yarragardee. The nearby domestic wells are likely completed in the shallowest aquifer, so may be Leederville wells or shallow (river) alluvium (superficial). Guessing...
