GUILTY Australia - Daniel Morcombe, 13, Woombye, QLD, 7 Dec 2003 - #2

  • #101
Channel 7's Sunday Night & 60 minutes tonight are about catching Daniel's killer.

Denise said she doesn't want to see his face or hear his name ever again. Denise & Bruce refuse to mention the murderer by name. I think that's fair enough. I's like to refer to him as the 'filthy murdering pedophile' from this day on.

Is that OK with you Marley? Please, or am I being too nice?

Good plan. FMP for short!!:seeya:

John Laws Morning Show: March 14
John Laws Show 2SM @JohnLawsShow2SM
John just spoke to forensic psychologist Bob Montgomery about the #Morcombe trial. Listen back to it at http://2smsupernetwork.com/ #2SM

IMO Bob Montgomery, Forensic Psychologist, stated that he was handed Cowan's file over a year ago. On the basis of Cowan's history, he formed the opinion that he had murdered Daniel Morcombe, but he could not report this before Trial or conviction.

He concurs with the reported opinion of Dr. Smallwood who treated Cowan in the QLD Sex Offender program, that something was different with Cowan. He was not a straight 'sex offender'. He has no emotional attachment. His profile was more aligned with being a Psychopath, i.e. total lack of empathy, no remorse, no capacity for change. His opinion is that Cowan is 'untreatable' and cannot be rehabilitated.

Program is worth listening to IMO.

And now we know how quickly BC snapped into predatory mode. Somehow he knew a bus was having problems - the question is, did he immediately start looking for a victim, or did he spot poor Daniel at the bus stop and spring into action as he recalled the bus? He admitted that he stood by and didn't even speak to Daniel until the bus sailed by - then was ready to offer a lift to the concerned boy. It's hard to believe that he didn't operate like this continually - an opportunist with a horrible plan at the ready. I hope the police will continue to look very carefully at everywhere this man has been throughout his entire life - this just all came far too easily to him.

All the information about him so far has been so revolting and shocking. I don't understand why crimes against children seem to be dismissed lightly in terms of prison sentences administered. That poor child in Darwin was tortured and left for dead in a junk yard - his injuries the stuff of nightmares, yet the charges against BC were reduced and he only spent a couple of years in prison? I'm guessing we will never hear about how the recovery of that particular child progressed, or how those events have changed his life to this day. It's just too sad to contemplate.

Agree Catswiskers. Are you able to watch 60mins program tonight? Allegedly Cowan's first official victim speaks up ...(in addition to the Morcombes)...

60 minutes is harrowing. I'm having a hard time holding myself together.

Denise Morcombe said 'he'll be dead by the time he's 60, he'll die in prison'.

We're all hoping he won't die of old age.
He's the boogy man I can't look at him anymore. I have to turn my head or close my eyes. He scares me.

That was gut wrenching, tormenting and heart breaking. I no longer want to see his face or speak of him. I will now choose to not discuss such a monster but instead will support the Morcombe family by donating and participating in events where I can. They deserve every piece of respect they have and more.

Cowan's first official victim was on 60mins program tonight. He was brave. Appearing on national television speaking about such childhood trauma, invokes traumatic, emotionally disintegrating memories. After being raped, he told Cowan that he was going to tell his mum. So Cowan proceeded to strangle him, choking him to death. If it were not for the female child care worker who called out "Tim, are you in there?" he believed that he would have been murdered by Cowan. So frightening, so traumatic, so sad.

The Morcombes stated their belief that if Cowan had been incarcerated 'never to be released' after Tim's sexual assault/attempted murder, that Daniel would still be alive today. They did not know about the Police 'operation', but remain eternally grateful to the Police as it enabled them to locate Daniel's body and convict Daniel's murderer.

Perfectly said Fusky.
Denise has been through the worst but I'm worried for her. I see her pain.
What sweet people.

A decade in hell for Bruce and Denise Morcombe
TRENT DALTON THE AUSTRALIAN MARCH 15, 2014 12:00AM

This is a long article which covers some of the challenges of the investigation into Daniel's disappearance over a 10 year period, the grueling effect of the 10 years of investigations on the Morcombes and the many Police officers and the frustration and disappointment of many false leads etc, but ends on a distinct note of relief for the Morcombe family that Cowan has finally been convicted and sentenced, that this matter is now "done & dusted", this unimaginable tragedy has finally come to an end...

The Morcombes really are wonderful, amazingly strong people. Thank goodness they were treated so respectfully and sensitively in the 60 Minutes episode tonight. I know they will be haunted by what happened to their beautiful boy forever, but I really did think Denise and Bruce looked a tiny bit lighter tonight. I loved seeing them smile at each other every now and then throughout the programme - they have made it through something I don't know if I would survive.

They really are a lovely couple, Denise is a beautiful soul. I really don't know if I could survive their ordeal and I'm sure many people would agree. Cowan is sickness and evil personified, what drives someone to commit such unspeakable horror? Quite obviously, something is very amiss with the wiring in his brain.

“We’ll do our best,” @DeniseMorcombe on moving forward after finding justice for Daniel. #60Mins #Morcombe

At the end of the program Denise stated they could begin to sort Daniel's things now. They had left everything the same, held his memory close in their heart and mind every day/night of the past 10 years.

60 Minutes Australia ‏@60Mins 10h
#60Mins wishes the #Morcombe family all the best for the future. <modsnip>

So i was watching the special on "sunday night" and listening to a witness who was Cowan's ex girlfriend whom he had taken to the macadamia farm previously and whom he rang when he was arrested and said " ill kill you or your dead".

She said that it was because she could link him to the farm and to some role playing stuff.... I am wondering if she knew more.

Didn't Cowan once say there is one person who knows but their not talking? Was he referring to himself or someone else.

Maybe i'm reading to much into it.

I saw that, but I missed the part whee he said one person knows... I feel like we've not seen the last of her yet, I think she'll speak out again, so we might be able to find out more. I doubt she'd come straight out and admit that, but we might be able to get some more info suggesting it?

I don't think you're reading too much into it, because I wondered why the hell he'd use his one phone call on calling her to threaten her... That all makes sense! Maybe he'd told her he had done it to someone there, but not said who?

The full interview with Cowan's ex partner Sarah is available here:http://au.news.yahoo.com/sunday-night/video/watch/22010662/extended-interview-cowans-ex-partner/

Is this who you were referring to as to knowing more? I suspect now that Cowan's identity and background have been revealed, more and more people are going to speak out about their experiences with him. I found the interview with his year nine teacher quite disturbing and the fact that he had molested so many people since a child - I wonder why there was no early intervention?

<Respectfully snipped>

Now he's been put away, they will feel safe enough to speak up.

Thank you so much for posting that link, janeom.

It's so difficult to watch - that POOR woman!!! - but so important to understand precisely how he operated and the manipulative tactics he used.

Blessings to her for having the courage to speak up.

May many more step forward.
