With a beautiful smile lighting up her face, Sophie Delezio can't contain her joy as she begins to organise her dream wedding to the cute boy she met in Year 9 after he proposed to her with candles, rose petals and a diamond ring on Valentine's Day.

Sophie Joy Martin Delezio (born 3 April 2001) is an Australian woman who was injured in two serious traffic crashes when she was young.

She first gained media attention in 2003, when she was badly injured when a car crashed into her day care centre. She suffered third-degree burns to 85% of her body and was hospitalised for almost a year, where she lost both feet, a number of fingers, and an ear.
She was involved in a second serious car crash in 2006.

It's brave Sophie's indomitable spirit, beautiful caring nature and sparkling blue eyes that captured Joseph's heart. 'She's always putting everyone else before herself. Sophie's the most genuine person I know,' he says.

14th April 2025

Wedding bliss for childhood crash survivor Sophie Delezio and long-time partner

It was a beautiful day in the Hunter Valley as miracle survivor Sophie Delezio married her long-time partner Joseph Salerno.

Bridesmaids wore Champagne-coloured dresses and groomsmen donned cream suits as the wedding party popped bottles with the newlyweds at Anambah House in the NSW wine region on April 12.

What a beautiful love story! Sophie’s strength and resilience are truly inspiring, and it’s heartwarming to see her find such happiness and love. Joseph sounds like a wonderful partner who sees the amazing person Sophie is inside and out. Wishing them both a lifetime of joy, love, and shared dreams — they absolutely deserve it!
