[h=1]Jayden Penno-Tompsett's disappearance remains a mystery in Charters Towers[/h]

Thanks for sharing. This article also states police confirmed the friend sought assistance from several property owners in area.
So for the moment my concern goes back to the dry extreme heat in that area for someone not adjusted to those conditions.
Adding that hoping they find answers during today's search

"Search intensifies for NSW man, 22, missing since New Year's Eve"

Except:
  • How is it intensifying? The caption says a "new area". But nothing is explicitly said or written
  • Have they found the the spot Lucas Tattersall said Jayden Penno-Tompsett left the car? (With the bull skull near, I assume near Stockroute Drive)
  • The report implies he stormed off from the servo. But that must be misreporting? Not helpful.
  • "Police want the public to help track where he went and his car" ... such unhelpful wording. I assume the police want to follow the movements of the car after the supposed argument. But the report should be clearer that he left the car?
  • "Police are asking the public to keep an eye out for Jayden or his car". Correct me if I'm wrong.... but the car should be with Lucas Tattersall? What the police want is to know the cars movements.

It's good the story is getting exposure, but this reporting is so lazy. Based on this story people could be keeping an eye out for the car rather than searching their memories.

So if police are starting to want to know more about the movements of the car, this is a bit of a worry.

I assume the police went to Tower Hill first to find surveillance footage. Hopefully it wasn't because there was a delay in learning of Stockroute Drive.

I assume this is the Puma roadhouse in Tower Hills, and it's on the other side of the town to Stockroute Drive.

The interest in the movements of the car would tell us if there was an attempt to return to the spot Jayden walked off. It would be understandable for someone to lie about that, since they would regret after the fact and want to appear they did what they could. But if you had a heated argument with someone, maybe you wouldn't look back.

Funny thing is, Stockroute is not on the main track. Why would they travel off the Flinders Highway?

Hi Butterstick
I found a couple article today the one you have posted and a sunrise brief info - they are either badly reported or intentionally that way to find more about the entire trip. My understanding is they searched Towers hill first which is where the servo is due to that being last time seen on camera. Then were later provided more info which led to stock route road so yes a delay. This is all MOO the way i have interrupted the articles so far.
The police said during yesterday's search the friend had been "very cooperative". Also mentioned some of his story was confirmed.
I found the jumped out of car and walked of, fair enough to believe at first, as I can imagine travelling that far and a young person with lack of sleep frustrated and arguing hot headed etc making a rash decision like that but .....
Where is he then ??? If he succumbed to heat or snake bite or anything health issue he would be found ?
I find it hard to belief he is lost in scrub in that area while the properties are large it's not like massive sheep stations way out west. They back into the Burdekin river it's dry in patched but families ride bikes, fish and camp along there at all different spots, If someone else picked him up hitching then surely they would have come forward by now ?!

I see you added the query about stock route drive, I thought that odd but I think I read (hopefully in MSN here) that Jayden was driving and turned down side road and got out and walked off. I am assuming only MOO that when police say the friends stories confirmed it was in relation to their request for local members of community who helped driver of red car to come forward.
Did he go back and ask property owners if they have seen jayden ?? Not sure ? What assistance have the police been told was given to the friend I wonder for them to want to confirm his story.

Ah this would make sense. Although Stock Rte is a good kilometre from Flinders at best, it could easily of happened that way

Yes I see no reason not to believe the friend.

Jayden was in an OK area for the heat.... not far from water or the main road (in any direction). But if it was early morning, then Jayden might of been over-confident and decided to walk, and pass by early opportunities for help or water .... and then found himself lost by the time it got hot later in the day.

The other worry is hitchhiking. Depending on a random person out in a remote area seems a little precarious.

@CoverMeCagney - I believe it's under "Jayden Penno"

On a seven news video it says they have received a tip off from the public which has made them search where they are looking. I don't believe his friends story at all. I would never leave a friend stranded regardless if they have stormed off.

I have to agree, My issue is if this story were right, then where is he ?? The story is plausible for a day at best. It's been 2 weeks.

I don't believe the friend's story at all, either. I can't see any 22 year-old 'storming off' without his phone.

And I think that the only confirmation that the police may have is perhaps that Jayden was driving as they left the servo, if that was able to be seen on the servo CCTV.

Is there a reason why others are thinking that the servo was across town from Stock Route Road? I got the impression that the servo is likely the Caltex, which is close to Stock Route Road and just off the Flinders Hwy, and open 24 hours. It is likely signposted on the highway.

Exactly! He would have seen someone along his travels and sought shelter and water etc.

I can't find the link either. I wonder if it has been removed. It was there last week, when I looked before.

About the servo location the one at towers hill is on the flinders highway and is known locally as the roadhouse. I haven't seen anything about the one in the Main Street. But who knows. It could be 24 hours and there may have been a mix up. Although I am thinking the towers hill one as it's on way into town. It's definitely called there roadhouse and has been for years to my knowledge all MOO and racking memory.

SA - I have snipped this to bring forward. One day I'll get his right am going to bring a couple forward to make a point

in this article it sounds like police are seeking a specific community member for information "provided assistance" asking them to come forward.

Yes, that is really interesting, Horror. I wonder what kind of assistance this person gave. A jump-start to the vehicle? Breaking up a fight between the two guys? Drugs? A few dollars for some petrol? The police definitely are not saying exactly what the assistance was. I wonder why.

Adding to the intrigue, police are asking a member of the public who “rendered assistance” to a young man in the Charters Towers area to urgently come forward.

“We are also seeking advice from a member of the community ... that afforded some assistance to either the missing person or his acquaintance. We know that it has happened and that member of the community will know exactly what they did ... that they afforded assistance most likely to the missing person’s acquaintance.”

Snipped again - this one makes it sound as though police have confirmed the driver sought assistance - I am wondering if this is related to the above post

I see in this article it actually names the roadhouse, as the Puma roadhouse, which is a little way before the Caltex. Still right on the Flinders Highway though.

Did they meet someone at that roadhouse, and then arranged to meet them on Stock Route Road for a 'transaction'? There had to be some specific reason that they went onto Stock Route Road, instead of staying on the Flinders Highway. It surely wouldn't have been for a potty break, as they had just been to a roadhouse.
