I think that this is a very, very pertinent question!
But at the same time these people probably don't have a conscience so keeping things clean for their story is a priority. This is PURE speculation but think about how CM could be of value to someone who uses. It is just diabolical. And I pray the sweet thing was kept out of these interactions.
The scary thing is that the Blue Mountains are infamous for that type of stuff and also for people going missing. Some of the worst and most bizarre cases that I've even heard of come from that area.

This is my own opinion only, as it is difficult to tell from early reports, but it seems KM was at Wildenstein when Police arrived, she was then taken to the RFS Command Center, as they made Wildenstein a crime scene very early, (with Police guard) and it was from the Command Center, that KM went to hospital ...

NSW Police seemed to ensure that the Wildenstein address was not contaminated very early on ...unlike the WT case.....

IMO
Do we know where the Command Centre was set up?

According to MSM, Mom called 000 at 8:20am on Friday, Jan 14th, and when police came to Wildenstein and started questioning her informally, she experienced a 'medical episode' and was taken to hospital... but at that early time, LE only knew about a missing child having just been reported, apparently by the mother. I believe it wasn't until the next day, the 15th, when LE declared Wildenstein a crimescene. imo. It would be unusual, imho, for LE to respond to a missing child report and immediately take the mother to a different site to simply obtain information from her about the circumstances surrounding the missing person.

from my timeline notes:
Friday, Jan 14, 2022, When police arrived at the Wildenstein estate, the mother, who is pregnant with the accused's/her fiance's baby, was present without the company of her fiancé and during an informal round of police questions she had 'a medical episode' and was taken to Blue Mountains Hospital at Katoomba. She remained there under close medical supervision, being 'difficult to approach', and due to her mental state, police were unable to interview her until an at-the-time, undetermined later time (which turned out to be a week later). https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10424423/C-M-alleged-murder-raises-three-key-questions-mum-alleged-killer-defends-son.html

Moo.....maybe he was sleeping with gun and CM woke him? Maybe he was sitting outside taking random shots and CM got hit by bullet? Maybe he was teaching CM to shoot and ? The list goes on and on. But i can think of no reason he would deliberately shoot her because that would be just incredibly stupid..moo

The police sounded very clear during the presser it was murder, not an accident

I just assumed the photo was taken at the shack JS used to live in. Something tells me his family might not give him access to the mansion.
I thought the same thing, maybe he wasn't allowed to take any friends back there, but on this occasion as it was a little child he was? It could be possible that he was working there as a caretaker while the place was closed down.

six maps gives a clear aerial view, looks like a little cabin on the property, possibly js "shack"?

I agree Bear, it looks like there are 2 buildings at the very back of the property.... both have water tanks. I assume one would be a storage shed for the equipment needed to maintain the property.

Police still believe the alleged murder took place at the Mt Wilson Property

Authorities, including the dog squad and dive teams - are also searching for the weapon at Wildenstein, the Mt Wilson property where CM was last seen.

They have yet to find any trace of blood or gunshot residue at the home, but still, believe that is where the alleged murder took place.

“The inquiries and evidence and information we’ve received suggests that the alleged murder happened at Mount Wilson at the property,” he said.(Det. Doherty)

“The time frames and evidence we’ve gathered so far suggest that’s where the alleged murder happened.

“Why would someone do this? The circumstances – they’re all part of the ongoing investigation.”

When I combine the statements of her being shot, it was murder, and LE who discovered her need extra support and time off, I have trouble believing it was an accident. JMO/MOO

A little more about the school memorial book for CM ....

Flowers left at the school will be blended and given to CM’s grandparents to spread when then they are ready, while a memorial book for them is also being made.

“This book will be a lasting memorial of the spontaneous and thoughtful memorial which developed at the site,” principal Peter Nichols posted on the school’s Facebook page.

“On behalf of the school, I sincerely thank you for all the cards, flowers and other items placed at our fence – every one of them acknowledges how much we all loved CM and how much we will all miss her.”

There is a map here that shows JS's alleged 200km known travels on that Thursday.

It does look like he may have chosen Five Dock for its proximity to deep water. And perhaps its greater distance from the estate.
Then he had to backtrack to Windsor boat ramp, then Colo River.

Yes agree with the access to deeper water at Five Dock, but JS may also have "familiarity" with that area as Leichardt, (upmarket warehouse address) and Surry Hills (place of arrest), are in very close proximity to that boat ramp as well.....

Yes. Definitely a familiar place would have been top of his list. imo
Research has shown that (alleged) killers choose a familiar place for victim disposal more often than not.

In general, offenders prefer familiar places so they know what to expect.
In one study, more than half of perpetrators disposed of bodies in locations known to them, primarily because they formerly lived or currently reside in the area.
Other researchers found that in their Korean-based study, suspects’ geographic knowledge typically originated from their previous residence (25 percent), current home (18 percent), or another familiar location, such as a workplace (9 percent).

People do stupid stuff all the time, people also do incredibly evil stuff too, way to often IMO , I'm betting the later in this case.

I think , in time, the details we may hear will be horrific. I don't really want or need to know. What we know already is bad enough for me :(
