Our very sweet Doc Watson.
This amazing surgeon gave us his valuable time and precious experience throughout the Baden-Clay case.
He'd tell me to breath, just breath TGY and then prescribe a Valium milkshake. We all laughed and cried together.

Unfortunately we do get overwhelmed in a case and a little light relief helps. I, and I can vouch for many others here, are NOT laughing at others misfortunes. Actually, we care. That's why we are here.

Exactly TGY. Even the police will use what they term 'black humour' when things get too stressful. I've heard it many times and some of it would undoubtedly shock people.

And while I'm on the subject, when typing the written word it is sometimes difficult to convey an emotion or feeling and that's why we have emoticons to insert into our posts. IMO none of the posters that have used emoticons to date have been disrespectful to Karen or anyone else for that matter.

While following various horrific cases on Websleuths it's always good to sometimes have a good belly laugh to break that horrible tension of not knowing, feeling helpless and frustrated that I can't do more to find the missing child, the murderer etc. etc. We Aussies are known for our wicked sense of humour even in the face of horror and that's the way I like it.

Love ya work TGY

I'm a social worker by trade, working in aged care. And we always have our 'black humour' in our team. This is how we cope with a stressful job and complex cases. It doesn't mean we don't care or are being insensitive at all. This is how we blow off steam otherwise we would burn out and develop compassion fatigue.

I get mixed messages about VR's closeness to his brother and his family when VR talks....claims to know Karen's state, reports how BR is doing, but then indicates he doesn't talk to her much, and he hasn't had much to do (at least in person) with BR since Karen's disappearance. Just seems all over the place - is he close to them or not?

It would appear not. From the HS article last night BBM:

"I did put the rumours (about Rickard) to Borce, but he said Karen's not here to answer them."

BR's answer to his brother indicates that VR is not in their inner circle IMO. It doesn't sound as if they're that close really. Leading to VR's recent outlandish speculations on Karen's disappearance in MSM.

More from the same link above still quoting VR.

“I reckon she’s run away. That’s my feeling, what with all the rumours going on about Anthony (Rickard),” he said.

“She’s been going overseas to America and Hong Kong each month for the past 10 years on business, and I’m told it’s fairly easy to get a false passport.

“I did put the rumours (about Rickard) to Borce, but he said Karen’s not here to answer them.

“I don’t think she will come back, I reckon she’s gone for good.”

BBM: So Karen's been going overseas each month for the past 10 years! IMO this is total and utter bs.AR's allegations about Karen didn't come out until after Karen disappeared. And according to AR, BR knew all about the 'family secret' as it has been referred to in MSM. Once again and IMO VR is FOS.

So Karen Ristevski has been missing for two months and not one of her family members has had anything nice to say about her. Not once!

Hinky 100%

I have a screen grab of a something a friend of Sarah's wrote on a news article that supports the frequent O/S travel ... it only stayed up for a few hours. He was defending the claims they were broke with this as evidence.

Hiding overseas?! That's laughable.

At what point do the police change from missing person case to murder?

Nearly two months now.

Usually when a body is discovered, and cause of death is determined.

What is also strange is that AR claims BR knew about his allegations and said they'd sort it out as a family, but when VR asks about it, he responds KR isn't around to speak to it. If that was the complete answer, it is a strange deflection - you think you'd say something along the lines of you don't believe AR, you don't know what to believe, or that it is untrue (whether it is or isn't) in order to support your wife or keep up the image - or even at this point just say yes, that happened. I mean, honestly if I had a partner who slept with my teenage child, had somehow decided to stay with them (!?!!) and then they'd disappeared, making me a murder suspect - now is probably the time to be frank. Whatever kept you together is no longer relevant. The financial partnership, your daughter, your image - all going down the gurgler, might as well lay it all out there. Unless you think that being accused of killing your wife is better than being accused of staying with her after that double betrayal - well probably some men's ideas about masculinity would find murder better than being cuckolded. That is probably at the bottom of it given he won't defend her on this score, especially given how credible a drug addicted convicted criminal comes across, it would be quite easy to come out and say he was aware of the claims and they are baseless and an insult to both Karen and himself. Not hard.

I think the O/S escape story is bull dust by the way ... I do think she travelled frequently but unless she embezzled big big bucks, there is no way.

Police have managed to have convictions without a body being found. Off the top of my head, Bradley Murdoch was tried and found guilty of Peter Falconio's murder without his body ever being found.

To me, it sounds like he's been reading WS.

It's not easy to get a fake passport unless you have connections (who are not law-abiding citizens obviously). I mean, this is not a suspense fiction novel. It's real life. And you've got to be really really desperate to try and use a fake passport anyway to get through customs both here and abroad. And leave your whole life and loved ones behind to start anew - on your own - in a foreign country. IMO, this is a big stretch.

Yes good old VR crawls out from under his rock. IMO he is throwing this story out there to play silly buggers, I said in a previous post that I did not think his lift has gone to the top floor. Your right Melbourne Lass, it is difficult to get a GOOD fake passport. Be easier to use someone else's. I have no doubt that once she was reported missing, Airports would have been notified, that is if the disappearing and reporting timelines are correct. And what would the conversation been at Customs at the other end, "what is the purpose of your visit madam", KR "I'm running away from my crazy family", "welcome to China".

What if she did travel frequently and was having an affair with a person overseas. That person may have paid for her flight and be keeping her in hiding. Maybe she had 2 passports or knows someone who can actually provide a false passport. It does happen.

A proof of life photo or video with a current newspaper from wherever she is would quickly clear this up, she could send to anyone in family or media.

Agreed on both counts. BR doesn't appear concerned about defending his wife's reputation and character. Why?

Why would she be in hiding though? People go in hiding because they are scared for their lives (according to Karen's Aunty, there was nobody they were aware of who wanted to harm her), or worried about a crime they committed.

Yes that is correct, but makes it easier for a conviction with a body. Without a body it can take longer and require more evidence for a conviction, HANG ON might be on to something here.

There's an underworld figure with the surname Ristevski. Maybe they are related. Maybe that's why BR isn't saying anything, in fear of his or his and Sarah's life.

China or the US? Um, no. Just no. Not unless she had friends in either of those countries. She'd be more likely to return to New Zealand, where she was originally from (although she wouldn't exactly be able 'blend in' as I've previously mentioned [she has quite distinctive features]).

Vasko seems a few sandwiches short of a picnic to me - in his first interview to camera he said "... if she's still alive"; now he comes out with this. He's another one whose ramblings I think we should ignore. I did wonder if he had something to do with Karen's disappearance earlier in the piece, but now I know he wasn't part of Borce and Karen's business ventures I've gone off that idea.

Totally agree. You don't simply leave your residence hide for a few days then jump on a plane with a false passport. I have worked in aviation for nearly 40 years ..... to obtain a fake passport I would imagine it would take time/connections and a crap load of money. This would have had to be premeditated. Upon saying that...I wouldn't be surprised if some of AR's connections could have ORGANISED just about anything you wanted. China .....sure KR would blend right into the scenery NOT !! And as for the States .....to live in either country we are talking big $$$$. It's not as if KR has murdered somebody ...... it's sounds like a red herring to me. BR/VR know that Karen is not coming back.....I'm not buying what his selling. Immigration Department would be all over this. Security at Airports is at an all time high in regards to fake documentation (assuming she left by plane).
