Sorry all.
Back to the phones.
Prof Reg Coutts, who often serves as an expert
telecoms witness in court hearings, told the Herald Sun that phone company records only captured the location of a mobile phone tower where a call originated, even if the caller was on the move...................
One of the things prof Coutts is quoted as saying is nothing works when the phone is off.
Tracking where a phone had been was also hard as information about what towers the device made contact with while on standby
typically wasn’t retained.
And a mobile phone made no such contact when it was switched off.
“Nothing works when a phone is off,’’ Prof Coutts said.
“If a phone is sleeping, that is still on. But if it’s turned off — other than sitting on it or physically detecting it, the network’s got no idea where it is.”
So I guess the Prof as an expert witness would say that Borces phone did not ping on the Calder near Diggers Rest between 10.30 am and 2:00 pm because it was turned
off.
Dr Bradley Schatz, founder of tech firm Schatz Forensic, said a phone’s GPS software was another way of locating where
it had been.
“Certainly it stores significant amounts of data about where you’ve
been travelling with your phone,’’ Dr Schatz said.
“
When we’re able to access someone’s mobile phone and get all the data out of it, it does give you a real insight into where they’ve been and
where they go regularly.”
Data also reveals that Borces phone was switched off for about two hours on June 29.
So if the data reveals Borces phone was switched off.
Does that mean it pinged near Diggers Rest outside those hours?
Why did he after having said he was home all day place himself on the Calder between 10:30 and ??? with that lame excuse about fuel gauges and bumps? Given his phone was off.
cctv of the car. Maybe it wasn't even Karens car that was captured.
imo
Kind of reminds me of GBC .... and the missing pj's.
Even GBC objected when it was asked/suggested that he killed his wife. But he was already on the stand when he made that objection.
