Has anyone got a theory on why people are so violent and where did this shift begin, what the hell is the reason for this?

Is it the desensitisation and violent video games?
It's all about me me me and stuff thy neighbour & bugger unto others.
Is it drugs or the breakdown of the family unit?
It is it plain & simple lack of self control?
There are no runnersup in our schools & everyone are winners?

too many questions and no answers I'm sorry.

You can see with his posts all through his Facebook dated back a few years he would post random things out of boredom and for attention. This man has been released from the mental health ward on a few occasions according to a post from Kristie and with him being much bigger than the old photos you see of him now, I imagine he is on some heavy duty medications. Those mixed with prohibited drugs would certainly be a deadly concoction.
Kristie was found in the hallway, most likely woken from her sleep to the scary break in. Seems like she didn’t even make it far to see what was going on. How terrifying!! I can’t believe he hasn’t been found already considering all the media out there now with his photos and warrant of his arrest.
He was wanted by police that day and after reviewing surveillance, it’s now also for homocide. I can’t wait to see him finally caught. I keep refreshing news feeds to see this happen!!! It’s so scary he is somewhere still out there.

Speaking generally, I feel the point made by Ag33 about certain underlying mental health issues (or a predisposition to them) possibly prescription medication for mental health issues and then non-prescription drugs might be a contributor in many cases, along with sub optimal treatment of mental health issues. In this particular case, we can't know - it seems less a spontaneous event, if it was indeed the person stalking Kirsty who committed her murder - we really can't know if a mental health/psychiatric disorder contributed.

Editing to add in no way do I believe that people with mental illness are dangerous or violent. My above opinion is around some seemingly unexplainable violent crimes and indications that people are in an altered state when committing them. MOO

AND here we go again....

Murder charge laid after Ballarat mum’s body found in burned-out home

A man has been charged with murder after a body was discovered in the ruins of a regional Victorian house fire.
Authorities say Ms Goodsell, who moved to Victoria some years ago, suffered serious injuries prior to her death.

A police investigation subsequently led to the arrest of a 35-year-old man yesterday.

Mum found dead in burned-out Ballarat home was ‘murdered’

Yeah totally get what you’re saying. Just going off what we have been told by kristies comment on Facebook and the fact he has been in and out of a facility. He has a warrant for prohibited drugs and othe things. So assuming he is taking a mixture of drugs, could add to his action of violence in this case. Not all people with mental health issues as you say are dangerous. Of course I know this but the concoction could be what had triggered his actions.

Agree - was more pulling myself up - from Sane Australia Fact vs myth: mental illness & violence

"Among the strongest risk factors for aggressive behaviour are:
  • being male
  • being a young adult
  • having had a troubled childhood
  • having problems with drug and especially alcohol abuse.
This doesn’t mean that people like this are all violent, or that other people can’t be violent. But crime statistics show that these factors have a much stronger influence than mental illness over a person’s likelihood to act violently."

Maybe men should be placed under curfew. Far too dangerous to the rest of society.

ADVICE ON A SAFE EXIT

The most violent time in an abusive relationship is the minute the woman leaves, or tries to leave. In fact, in domestic violence cases, more than 70 percent of injuries and murders happen after the victim leaves. This phenomenon is known as separation assault.

After following the Exit Action Plan for how to leave an abusive relationship safely, know the plan for staying safe!

Consider going to a shelter
Domestic violence shelters are available to provide safety and to help you get on your feet. In addition to safety, they provide services, support and resources for you and your children.

Secure your new home
Consider new window and door locks, outdoor lights, an alarm system, steel doors and smoke detectors.

AND another....when will it end

A man who allegedly assaulted a woman he knew and left her with critical injuries in a car park south of Brisbane has been charged with attempted murder.

The injured 25-year-old woman was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with critical head and facial injuries after being found by police near Pallara State School on Ritchie Road about 4.30am on Sunday.

A crime scene has been established and also at a Pallara home where it is understood the woman may have received some of her injuries before being abandoned at the car park.

Maybe only those with violent priors.
It will be a minority because the majority of our men are absolutely wonderful critters.

Bit harsh to label all men in the same category IMO

Yeah I know. I am one.

Just thinking the response if this amount of violence was committed by any other identifiable group, race, cultural etc.

Look what we do to stop the small amount of shark attacks.

Domestic violence has been tolerated for too long, it's almost been normalised.

An example from the newsroom is hearing "It's only a domestic" when police or emergency services are called to a location. To the media, if it can't be turned into a story right then and there, it ain't worth covering. Only until she or the kids are murdered.

You'd think the conversation would have changed since Luke Batty's death, but really what I see is basically a lot more lip service, especially from politicians, and no real services for the men who need serious mental health interventions/anger management/gambling recovery/substance abuse rehab, or funding for the at-risk women and children who need housing, welfare, counselling to escape partner violence.

Our authorities also need an overhaul in order for women to trust them to report these crimes too.

It was only this year we heard a QLD police officer GAVE the home address of a woman escaping a violent partner to the ex-husband because she was making too many complaints against the bloke. His message to the ex was literally: "She will flip"

And just this weekend ... a NSW senior constable now charged by the AFP, after calling a female Federal politician to threaten her young daughter, all because she spoke out against remarks about her sex life, made towards her by a colleague while she spoke on the number of women being murdered in this country.

I don't think it's a coincidence that men just happen to be the offender ~95% of the time a child, woman or man is abused or killed in this country. There has to be some kind of societal acceptance for a statistic to be that high.

Men are protected by "safety in numbers", being half of human population, and no telling signs on the surface who is violent and who is not.

If it is a minority group, the whole group would be vilified. I know examples of not just sharks.

Ch 7 - He's been arrested on outstanding warrants and will appear in court tomorrow. Depending on how his interview goes tonight he could be charged with further crimes.

Hope they get the info tonight and I hope there won't be a chance of him getting bail if they don't :eek:
