That's an interesting thought FigTree.

I feel like we just have no idea who this guy knows - a lot of leeway seems to have been given to him so far. :banghead:

It is driving me bonkers too ... whose name(s) is behind the leeway given to him? What is his public profile? Where does SG get enough money to live at his address?

Does he deliver 'health products' to rugby teams, football teams, Olympic athletes? Can't imagine he would earn enough to pay his rent/mortgage by selling to Joe Average in the local gym.

One thing I do know, if the judge doesn't deliver the correct verdict and sentence in this trial, she may as well hand him and others like him a license to kill.

There is a lot on the internet about SG's first lawyer (in Jan 2013), the very high-profile Anthony Bellanto QC. In fact, Derryn Hinch has a little bit to say about him on his blog Human Headline - and it mostly consists of anger toward him for helping the 'wrong' person keep his name suppressed.

Still looking up public info on Philip Strickland, SC - SG's current lawyer. Wonder what his public profile is like ....

Earlier his lawyer told the court he was very close to the close of the case.

Simon Gittany's defence case has closed. Now there's the chance for prosecution to call any remaining evidence, then come closing addresses

Judge makes it very clear her decision is NO reflection on the evidence, simply due to the stage of the trial (closing submissions)

Really looking forward to the media reports from this morning (and I bet the 17 others currently viewing this thread are too).

Very sensible by the Judge - I like the reasoning of no "exceptional circumstances" to remain out at this stage of trial

Simon Gittany has bail revoked

November 12, 2013 - 12:33PM

"What the Bail Act says is that I am not to grant bail unless satisfied of exceptional circumstances," Justice McCallum said.

Mr Gittany’s girlfriend Rachelle Louise sat in the public gallery for the first time and wiped away tears as she heard her partner would be remanded in custody.

Corrective Services arrived at 12.20pm and and took Mr Gittany into custody.

Justice Lucy McCallum said as she formally revoked bail that the decision is no "indication" of the evidence before her, but it is a decision made due to the stage of the trial.

His girlfriend Rachelle Louise cried and covered her mouth with her hand as the decision was made in court.
